Abstract

Background: School well-being is an important aspect for students in determining their success during their studies and their future. Low school well-being will have an impact on the emergence of mental problems and academic problems in students. Peer mentoring is needed as a form of assistance, carried out by more experienced individuals (mentors) to help less experienced individuals (mentees).Objective: To find out how effective peer mentoring is for Unjaya Nursing students on school well-being.Methods: In quantitative form with a cross-sectional approach, the school well-being instrument was tested for validity and reliability first. The sample was 40 nursing students at Jenderal Achmad Yani University, Yogyakarta. Results: The average school well-being score before the intervention was 83.43 and after 83.85 peer mentoring was given, there was an increase in the score of 0.42. The school well-being score before and after the intervention was in the form of non-normally distributed data, and was tested using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.with sig 0.638.Conclusion: The peer mentoring that is carried out is less effective in improving the school well-being of nursing students.

Abstract

Background: Nursing students have higher levels of anxiety than students of others majors. Common stressors perceived are rigorous courses, a mandatory curriculum requires students facing frequent transitions from classroom to intensive lab and hospital also frequent enforcement of exams. Dealing with those situations, students attempt to deal and cope through the negative mode of action such as consuming alcohol, marijuana, smoking, and drug abuse. It is essential to manage those problems through effective interventionObjective: This study aims to understand the potential effects of saffron to treat anxiety among college students.Methods: We conducted an un-blinded experimental study. 78 nursing students perceiving anxiety, divided into two groups, the saffron group (n 42) and control groups (n 36). Treatment protocol was saffron group received saffron as brewed drinks, while control group drinks regular tea. The treatment duration is two weeks. Outcome assessed with DASS 21 Checklist, at baseline, and after 2 weeks therapy.Results:. Saffron had a more significant impact on the anxiety level among the intervention group. The mean anxiety scores decreased from 13,8 to 9,2 for the saffron group (p 0,0001).Conclusion: Our findings suggest that saffron is effective to reduce anxiety level among nursing students

Abstract

This community service aims to assist Puksemas in creating a drug-free society through the revitalization of the Parikesit Posyandu program. The method of activity carried out is with assistance and technical guidance through health education, lectures and discussions, as well as monitoring program evaluation. The target for this community service is all youth in Tirtomartani Village, especially the management of Parikesit Posyandu cadres. The activities were carried out starting from preparation to evaluation, which were carried out on November 10-30 2021. Assistance activities began with coordinating program implementation, counseling activities and assisting in the evaluation of the programs being carried out. The final assistance aims to increase knowledge about drugs for adolescents in Tirtomartani Village. The community service which was carried out in the Tirtomartani Village was attended by 21 Parikesit youth cadres. Knowledge of youth cadres before and after drug education increased knowledge with a mean pretest score of 62.38 and a mean posttest score of 95.24. So there is an increase of 32.86. Based on the Paired T-Test statistical test, there is a significant difference between knowledge before and after being given counseling about drugs with a p value of 0.000. Assistance is needed from the Kalasan health center so that Parikesit youth cadres can apply the knowledge they have gained so that they can assist the Puskesmas in carrying out drug prevention and control in adolescents.

Abstract

The elderly are the population aged 60 years and over. Due to the aging process, the elderly often experience physiological function disorders that interfere with their health and most often cause degenerative diseases. Diseases that are often complained of by the elderly such as heart and blood vessel disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus and others. The results of population projections for 2010-2035 estimated the number of elderly people at 10% of the population. It is stated that Indonesia is experiencing an ageing period.  The purpose of this service is to check the health of the elderly in Pantri Wreda Gondokusuman and health counseling to 10 elderly people. The activity was carried out on April 16, 2023. The results of health checks include blood pressure checks found as much as 60% have hypertension, blood sugar checks found 60% normal, uric acid the majority of elderly people experience high uric acid by 70%. After the health check was completed, it was continued with health counseling with the theme of preventing vascular disease. Pre-test results before counseling 60% of knowledge is lacking and 40% is sufficient. After education 40% of knowledge is in the good category and 50% in the sufficient category and 10% in the insufficient category. It is hoped that the elderly will be able to regularly check their health and maintain a healthy lifestyle so that the elderly can live optimally.

Abstract

Saat ini, perilaku anak mengkonsumsi jajanan tidak sehat semakin meningkat. Hal ini disebabkan akses yang mudah dan ketersediaan jajanan tidak sehat yang melimpah. Jajanan tidak sehat adalah jajanan yang banyak dijual di pinggir jalan dengan pengemasan yang kurang higienis maupun dibuat dengan bahan-bahan dasar yang kurang aman bagi tubuh. Jika dikonsumsi dengan frekuensi yang tinggi, hal ini akan berdampak serius terhadap kesehatan anak dalam jangka waktu yang panjang. Untuk mencegah anak mengkonsumsi jajanan tidak sehat, diperlukan edukasi untuk meingkatkan pengetahuan mengenai cara memilih jajanan sehat. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan anak tentang jajanan sehat, sehingga perilaku anak mengkonsumsi jajanan tidak sehat dapat berkurang. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan memberikan edukasi melalui video animasi yang berisi perbedaan karakteristik jajanan sehat dan tidak sehat. Sejumlah 65 siswa SD kelas 1 hingga kelas 6 mengikuti kegiatan edukasi ini. Dari kegiatan edukasi dengan media animasi, didapatkan hasil yakni terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai jajanan sehat. Sebelum diberikan edukasi terdapat 42 anak (64,6%) memiliki pengetahuan yang baik dan setelah diberikan edukasi persentase anak dengan pengetahuan meningkat menjadi 49 anak (75,4%). Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan kegiatan edukasi dengan media animasi ini efektif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan anak tentang jajanan sehat.

Abstract

Anxiety is the most significant mental problem among adolescents. Several factors trigger the onset of anxiety, including academic aspects, problems with family relationships, characteristics of relation with peers, and the utilization of the internet, especially social media. Some adolescent behaviour occur due to the addiction to playing social media, such as sleep disturbances and sedentary behaviour, which eventually lead to anxiety problems in adolescents. This community service aims to provide adolescents with information about the benefits of saffron to reduce anxiety. The method used in this community service is health education using video media. Fifty-three students of SMUN 3 Bantul participated in this community service, and the result was that the mean knowledge of students regarding the benefits of saffron in reducing anxiety increased significantly (p-value = 0.000). In general, students' knowledge about the benefits of saffron in reducing anxiety increased.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk memberikan gambaran dan penambahan keterampilan bagi mahasiswa Keperawatan di Yogyakarta, sehingga mahasiswa merasa sejahtera ketika berada di lingkungan kampusnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain eksperimen true experimental, dengan fokus desain eksperimen one group pretest posttest design. Modul pelatihan peer mentoring dan skala school well-being dalam penelitian ini merupakan hasil pengembangan dari penelitian peneliti sebelumnya. Pembuatan skala untuk pengumpulan data dengan mengacu pada aspek school well-being dari Konu dan Rimpela. Subjek penelitian ini mahasiswa prodi Keperwatan Universitas Jenderal Achmad Ynai Yogyakarta yang berjumlah 150 orang. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 13-14 Juni 2024. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat peningkatan antara School Well Being sebelum dilakukan Peer Mentoring dan setelah dilakukan Peer Mentoring. Selain itu, Terdapat peningkatan antara Having (Kondisi Kampus), Loving (Hubungan Sosial), Being (Pemenuhan Diri Mahasiswa), Health (Status Kesehatan) sebelum dilakukan Peer Mentoring dan setelah dilakukan Peer Mentoring

Abstract

Background: Smoking is one of the risk factors for increasing morbidity and premature mortality worldwide. The large number of teenagers who smoke makes smoking the second largest contributor to global disability adjusted for life years with 148 million cases each year. Objective: This study aims to test a social empowerment model for adolescents to quit smoking, by exploring the influence of variables related to smoking cessation behavior among adolescents. Method: This study used a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 200 adolescents aged 12-25 years in Sumenep Regency, Madura. The structured questionnaire used to collect data has been validated. The analysis was carried out with descriptive statistics and path analysis using the STATA 13 to evaluate the effect of variables on smoking cessation behavior. Results: The study showed that out of 200 adolescents, 66% had a strong intention to quit smoking. Positive attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly influenced the intention to quit smoking. Adolescents with high knowledge about the dangers of smoking and strong social capital from peers also showed higher intentions. Path analysis indicated that the intention to quit smoking was the main mediator by the influence of attitudes, norms, and knowledge on smoking cessation behavior, with a p-value <0.001 indicating high significance. Conclusion: The smoking cessation behavior adolescents is influenced by intention to quit smoking, positive attitudes, subjective norms, perceived control, and knowledge about the dangers of smoking. Social capital from peers plays an important role in increasing this intention. The implications of the results of this study emphasize the need for education-based interventions and social support to reduce smoking habits among adolescents.
