This study examines code-mixing form, function, and patterns within the context of linguistic phenomena at Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA RI) in East Indonesia, Ambon. To conduct the research, mixed-methode approach was adopted and the data source was a collection of recordings of the students’ utterances in the classroom and workplace. The study found that there were three forms of code mixing used by the students which included words, phrases, and clauses. The data analysis revealed that there were 39 instances of code mixing in the recordings. These 39 instances comprised of 20 data words code mixing, 14 data phrase code mixing, 11 data lexical need code mixing, and 9 data as a function of comment. In addition. code-mixing patterns within the context of linguistic phenomena, specifically focusing on three predominant models: Model of Verb (MoV), Model of Noun (MoN), and Model of Adjective (MoA). The research reveals a total of 158 instances of code-mixing across these models. The results indicated that Model of Verb (MoV) exhibited the highest frequency, constituting 62.03% of the total code-mixing observed. In contrast, Model of Noun (MoN) represented 27.22% of the code-mixing instances, while Model of Adjective (MoA) accounted for 10.75% of the overall code-mixing phenomena. This study sheds light on the use of code mixing in the context of English language teaching and provides new insights into the reasons behind its occurrence in the workplace.

This study aims to examine the internet literacy level of students in the National Polytechnic English Olympic (NPEO) selection at Ambon State Polytechnic 2022. The researchers are interested in understanding the internet literacy of 30 students focusing on the use of search engines, social media, email, and downloading. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach and utilized questionnaires to collect data. The data is then analyzed using the capability Maturity Model Theory. The results revealed that the internet literacy level of students in the National Polytechnic English Olympic (NPEO) at Ambon State Polytechnic 2022 was at level 2 with 50 %. This final result related to the self-rating internet proficiency with 48% (at intermediate level), internet usage and internet capability with 86 % (at good category), and knowledge test with 60 % (at Middle level). The results also elucidated several factors that affected internet literacy among the students, such as gender, age, and internet usage experience.

The study conducted at the Practical Language Learning Center (PLLC) aimed to compare the effectiveness of two teaching methods for TOEFL preparation: the TMIP-Based Web in Teaching TOEFL method and a conventional approach or no specific intervention. A total of 58 students participated, with 25 assigned to the control class and 33 to the experimental class. TOEFL scores served as the measure of learning outcomes. Prior to analysis, Levene's test was used to assess variance equality between groups, followed by an independent samples t-test to compare mean scores. Results revealed a significant difference in mean TOEFL scores between the control (M = 66.96) and experimental (M = 81.58) groups, indicating superior performance in the experimental group. Statistical analyses, supported by SPSS output, affirmed the positive impact of the TMIP-Based Web in Teaching TOEFL method on students' TOEFL scores. The analysis of the SPSS output reveals a significant finding, where the obtained significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 is considerably less than the conventional threshold of 0.01. This result prompts the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1), indicating a substantial relationship between the TMIP-Based Web in Teaching TOEFL method and students' TOEFL scores. Furthermore, this conclusion is reinforced by both manual t-test analysis and SPSS assistance, both of which corroborate a statistically significant impact of the teaching method on students' TOEFL scores.

Learning videos are interactive media that are currently commonly used in learning, especially in English subjects in recent times. Providing a positive impact on students' motivation in learning English is one of the benefits obtained from the application of this learning media. English learning videos made by involving students as actors in it are expected to foster their motivation in learning English. As for the purpose of this study, it was found that from the research data it was found that students were more motivated by learning English in class using the videos they participated in. Focusing on research methodology, descriptive quantitative research is applied to obtain research objectives. This study develops a framework model for Linguistic Landscape (LL) strategies aimed at strengthening national identity in tourism areas, focusing on the integration of local culture and multilingual communication. Using the Riau Islands and West Sumatra as case studies, regions recognized for their cultural richness and tourism potential. This research employs a mixed methods approach to analyze public signage in prominent tourist destinations. A total of 200 public signs were examined for linguistic characteristics, cultural representation, and effectiveness in enhancing the tourist experience. The findings reveal that 72% of the signs are monolingual, predominantly in Bahasa Indonesia, while 28% include additional languages, such as English, to cater to international visitors. Among the multilingual signs, 80% successfully incorporate local cultural elements, fostering a stronger connection to regional heritage while improving navigation and communication for foreign tourists. Statistical analysis indicates a positive correlation between culturally integrated, multilingual signage and tourist satisfaction, with 88% very agreed level of stakeholders preferring signs that blend local identity with practical information in multiple languages. The proposed framework emphasizes the strategic incorporation of local linguistic and cultural elements into public signage to preserve national identity amidst globalization and modern tourism demands. This approach not only promotes inclusivity but also enhances the competitive positioning of Riau Islands and West Sumatra as culturally distinctive and welcoming tourist destinations. The study concludes that adopting this framework can support sustainable tourism development while fostering pride in national and regional heritage.

Penelitian ini menginvestigasi kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun referensi pada proposal penelitian di Jurusan Administrasi Niaga. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi jumlah daftar pustaka (DP), jumlah kutipan (Citasi), selisih antara DP dan Citasi (Selisih), serta kesalahan dalam format daftar pustaka (KFDP) dan format kutipan (KFC). Analisis menunjukkan adanya variasi yang signifikan dalam DP dan Citasi di antara 20 sampel mahasiswa, dengan DP rata-rata sekitar 27,5 dan Citasi rata-rata sekitar 24,95. Evaluasi Selisih (DP - Citasi) mengindikasikan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa cenderung menggunakan lebih banyak DP daripada Citasi. Penelitian juga mengungkapkan variasi yang signifikan dalam KFDP, yang menjadi masalah utama dalam penulisan referensi, tercatat pada 18 dari 20 sampel. Kesalahan dalam KFC, meskipun jumlahnya lebih sedikit, juga memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap integritas penulis. Rekomendasi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa termasuk pelatihan intensif dan sumber daya yang ditingkatkan guna memperbaiki pemahaman aturan format dan mengurangi kesalahan. Wawancara dengan mahasiswa menyoroti tantangan seperti kurangnya pemahaman aturan format, keterbatasan sumber daya, perbedaan aturan di disiplin ilmu, kompleksitas tugas kutipan, ketidakpahaman tentang konsekuensi kesalahan, dan tekanan waktu. Oleh karena itu, panduan dan pelatihan yang lebih terstruktur diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam penulisan referensi secara efektif. Secara kesimpulan, upaya untuk mengatasi tantangan ini melalui panduan yang komprehensif, pelatihan yang intensif, dan adaptasi spesifik terhadap disiplin ilmu dapat secara signifikan meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun referensi. Langkah-langkah ini krusial untuk meningkatkan keunggulan akademik dan memastikan integritas di Jurusan Administrasi Niaga.

This study investigates the implementation of project-based concern to develop an English coursebook model for maritime training aligned with Seafarers' STSDD certification requirements. Following Gall Borg model design, the research obviously aimed to create an interactive teaching material model suitable for a foundational English course tailored for seafarers. Educational needs were identified through surveys, interviews, and documentation, revealing ten thematic areas structured with five tasks each. These thematic areas encompassed essential topics such as maritime communication, safety procedures, navigation, marine engineering, cargo operations, environmental awareness, cultural competence, legal aspects, health, and emergencies. Tasks within these areas included theoretical knowledge, in-class exercises, and practical field assignments designed to enhance both individual and group learning experiences. These components were meticulously aligned with standards aimed at improving English for Maritime language skills among seafarers preparing for STSDD certification. The resulting teaching material model project-based concern tailored guidelines specific to the unique contexts of maritime training. Effectiveness was assessed using the N-Gain Score, resulting in a score of 0.86 (86.36%), indicating a significant enhancement in language skills. The findings suggest that this project-based concern not only improves seafarers English for Maritime language skills but also holds practical implications for onboard application. By incorporating project-based concern and specific materials, educators can optimize training programs to better equip seafarers for the linguistic demands of their roles and the requirements of STSDD certification exams.

The purpose of this study is to detect the key issues and challenges faced by English lecturers in implementing gamification in teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP). This study was a qualitative study with case study design. A number of 16 lecturers were participants of this study. The data was collected through structured interviews, and then analyzed the interview responses using content analysis. The result of the study shown that there were factors or issues such as the occurrence of problems like irregularities, objections, and challenges during the game, the creation of a negative competitive environment, the extension of the time allotted for the game, and the creation of a noisy environment were found to be challenges to the use of gamification in the classroom. In addition, technical difficulties and problems with digital games, lack of technology and internet, technology, screen, and game addiction, and health or psychological issues are some of the main reasons why lecturers do not use gamification in their ESP teaching.

Nagari Siguntur, located in Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, has great potential for cultural tourism. However, information related to the tourism profile, transportation access, infrastructure, and event schedules in the area is still unavailable, even on the official village website, which has led to tourism stagnation. This Community Service Program aims to provide training and assistance in developing digital content about cultural wisdom for the Nagari Siguntur officials as part of the Empowerment Forum for the Village Information System (SINAR) and AI integration. Through this program, the Nagari Siguntur officials are expected to be equipped and ready to establish an AI-assisted Village Information System (SINAR) that provides sufficient public information, thereby accelerating the realization of an independent village in terms of cultural information, with positive impacts on tourism and the local economy. The methods used include training sessions introducing basic concepts of culture and cultural wisdom, cultural content writing, interview techniques, journalistic ethics, and the use of social media platforms for publication, as well as workshops on writing engaging and informative cultural content and managing social media platforms such as websites.
