Abstract

Quality of life plays a crucial role in enhancing employee productivity. This study aimed to assess the relationship between job stress and quality of life among university staff, identifying types of stress that positively or negatively impact well-being. A total of 88 university employees participated, with data collected using the New Job Stress Scale and WHOQOL, both adapted into Indonesian. Analyses included one-predictor regression, product moment correlation, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA to evaluate job stress and quality of life. The results indicated that job stress predicts quality of life and is correlated with all its domains. Specific components of job stress, such as working time, work-related anxiety, role conflict, work-life balance, and coworker support, were significantly related to overall quality of life. No significant differences in job stress were observed based on gender, age, type of work, length of service, education level, or marital status. Similarly, quality of life did not vary by gender, age, type of work, education level, or marital status. However, significant differences in quality of life were found based on service length, with employees working more than five years reporting better quality of life than those with one to three years of service. The findings suggest universities should implement stress management programs and improve work-life balance policies to enhance staff well-being, particularly for long-serving employees.

Abstract

The preschool period is the optimal period for children to show their interest and development in language, social interaction, and environmental exploration. It is important to recognize children's development and growth to optimize their potential, character and growth and development. This community service is carried out to facilitate schools and parents to better understand the condition of their students and children. This activity is also a preventive measure for children's development and growth problems. The method of this activity is in the form of a mentoring program, namely assessment and education about children's growth and development, children's learning styles, and parenting patterns, consultations, as well as providing guidance on detecting children's growth and development and psychology to schools. Activities were carried out on May 11, July 6, July 13, and July 30 2024. The measurement results showed that most children had the average intelligence category (63.64%), most of the children's development and growth measurements were in the normal category, namely as many as 21 children (63.64%), the highest nutritional status was normal nutritional status, 26 children (78.79%), and the visual learning style that most students had, namely 17 children (51.52%). All types of parenting styles are democratic. Regarding the effectiveness of education, it shows that there is no significant difference in results (t= -0.977; p= >0.05). This means that providing education has no influence on parents' knowledge regarding physical development, psychological development and parenting styles. The conclusion of this mentoring activity is that it is able to facilitate the school and parents to recognize the condition of students and children. However, regarding the objectives of the mentoring process, it can be said that it has not been successful due to several weak factors in this activity, such as many educational participants not attending, and some assessment data not being identified. Key words: growth and development, learning styles, parenting patterns

Abstract

Abstract. Parenting stress among parents with dual family career is a psychological condition that arises due to an imbalance between parenting demands and the available resources. If not properly managed, this condition may interfere with family adaptation and decrease family resilience. This community service activity aimed to provide understanding regarding the causes, impacts, and strategies for managing parenting stress. Through a seminar held at SDIT Usamah Tegal, parents were provided with information and training on adaptive strategies to cope with parenting stress. The results of the activity indicated an increase in parents’ understanding of parenting stress, which contributed to a reduction in stress levels in carrying out their parenting roles. Therefore, continuous support, provision of information, and more comprehensive stress management strategies are needed to strengthen family resilience. Abstrak.
