Abstract

The National Energy Policy to develop the use of renewable energy has opened up opportunities for industry to develop the use of biomass. A study on the use of palm shells as a substitute for industrial diesel in a thermal oil heating system at a natural rubber resin factory in North Sumatra has been carried out. All information and data on the operation of TOH were obtained through secondary data collection and direct discussions in the field. The secondary data obtained include the type and specification of the heater, the characteristics of the thermal oil (type, flow rate, temperature inlet and outlet of the heater), fuel consumption/hour and the characteristics of palm shells. From the study conducted, it can be concluded that during the process of heating thermal oil which takes place gradually in the TOH system using industrial diesel, it has a heat capacity of 1.500.000 kcal/hour, but the maximum heat that is useful for heating thermal oil is 694,396 kcal/hour with maximum thermal efficiency is 80.69%. Estimated consumption of palm kernel shells required to heat thermal oil on the assumption of 70% thermal efficiency as a substitute for energy supplied by industrial diesel is 237 kg/hour. The savings from this fuel replacement is estimated Rp.3.286.800.000/year.

Abstract

Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) play an important role in the regional and national economy, especially in providing employment and increasing the added value of local products. T.A Rezeki is one of the SMEs that produces its products by purchasing raw materials from products at chemical stores, then marketing them to surrounding areas, several restaurants, mosques and laundries directly. The design of an IoT-based batch mixer is expected to help TA Rezeki SMEs to automate the base soap stirring process so that it is more efficient and consistent. With the implementation of IoT, it is expected to reduce operational costs, increase production capacity, and produce soap products with better and uniform quality. Based on the satisfaction survey conducted, the results showed that the digitalization of soap stirring tools carried out in this activity provided benefits to SMEs by providing convenience with equipment automation and more consistent stirring so that the resulting products are also of better quality.

Abstract

Cellulose, as a renewable resource, has recently emerged as a primary focus for researchers aiming to develop sustainable biomaterials.  FTIR spectra show that there is no significant difference between them. Apparently, the significant absorption band of cellulose structure at 3300 cm-1 (O-H stretching), 2900 cm-1 (C-H stretching), and at 1022 cm-1 (OCH-O-CH2 cellulose framework). SEM images revealed that changing the surface morphology of the a-cellulose (fibril-shaped) to nano a-cellulose (rod-shaped) resulted in average fiber diameters of 3.07 µm and 2.80 µm, respectively. Particle size distribution of the suspended particles after acid and sonication treatment becomes 380.79 nm. Based on the DTA results, the obtained products have good thermal stability, which decomposes at a temperature 290 oC. Furthermore, nano a-cellulose was used as a starting material to generate biodegradable plastic with the addition of silica as a filler and glycerin as a plasticizer. Mechanical tests of bioplastics, such as tensile strength, elongation, and modulus of elasticity, show that silica can improve the properties of bioplastics. Finally, the elongation properties of bioplastics meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements; however, the tensile strength and modulus of elasticity values require further experiments.

Abstract

Objectives: This study compares five AI platforms (ChatGPT 5.2, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Gemini 3 Pro, GLM 4.7, DeepSeek V3.2) with manual HR assessment in team performance evaluation, examining accuracy and predictive validity by correlating with program success rates.Methodology: Using a within-subjects design, 32 team members managing 619 locations were evaluated by six methods via standardized prompts. Analysis included comparative tests, accuracy metrics, and correlation between performance scores and graduation rates.Finding: All AI platforms scored higher than the HR baseline. Correlation analysis revealed substantial differences in predictive validity. Claude Sonnet 4.5 demonstrated the strongest correlation with graduation rates (ρ = 0.70), followed by GLM 4.7 (ρ = 0.67), accounting for approximately 50-55% of the outcome variability. The HR baseline unexpectedly showed a negative correlation with program success (ρ = -0.49), indicating misalignment between the evaluation criteria and actual effectiveness. DeepSeek V3.2 most closely matched HR scores but showed only moderate predictive validity, while ChatGPT 5.2 showed no meaningful relationship with outcomes. Conclusion: AI platforms differ substantially in predictive validity. Organizations should prioritize outcome-based validation over human agreement when selecting AI for HR decisions and consider recalibrating manual evaluation systems.
