Abstract

This article provides an innovative method to writing training that intends to enhance students' creativity, involvement, and skill development. Drawing on Bowkett's (2010) resource on writing in the classroom, four activities—Quick Writes, Story Starters, Sensory Detail Exploration, and Plot Mapping Using Story Grids—are detailed in detail, stressing their benefits for students' writing talents and critical thinking skills. The article emphasizes the importance of sustaining educators' behavior in implementing these engaging writing activities, proposing a multifaceted approach that combines theoretical foundations (Self-Determination Theory and Social Cognitive Theory), innovative ideas (technology integration and culturally responsive strategies), and ongoing assistance (professional development and communities of practice). Educators may build a vibrant and interesting writing environment by taking this holistic approach, encouraging students to become confident and impactful writers. Future study opportunities are also suggested to investigate the long-term influence of these writing styles and to further increase writing education's transformative potential.

Abstract

The study explores the use of literacy gardens in coffee shops as a novel strategy for promoting intellectual development, sustainability, and community participation in Indonesian cities. These integrated places have the potential to significantly alter urban surroundings by combining coffee shops' cultural appeal and popularity with the transformative power of literacy and sustainability. Literacy gardens at coffee shops promote intellectual development and lifetime learning by creating immersive environments in which people may interact with various reading materials. These venues encourage consumers to continuously learn, think critically, and act curious. Furthermore, incorporating sustainable techniques into literacy gardens encourages responsible consumption and environmental knowledge. Coffee shops can be models of urban sustainability by procuring ethically produced local coffee beans, lobbying for fair trade, and implementing environmentally friendly practices. Literacy gardens at coffee shops promote community engagement and social cohesiveness by functioning as cultural hubs for book clubs, literary discussions, and community events. These integrated venues help to promote cultural variety, heritage preservation, and identity reinforcement by highlighting local literature, folklore, and linguistic resources. The incorporation of literacy gardens into coffee shops provides a revolutionary platform for creating knowledge-driven communities, promoting sustainability, and shaping resilient, inclusive cities. Visionary initiatives, such as Anies Baswedan's ambition to create 40 Indonesian cities, illustrate the potential for positive transformation in urban environments by integrating literacy gardens into the coffee value chain.

Abstract

This article investigates the relationship between coping strategies and the well-being of coffee shop visitors. Coffee shops serve as more than just places to get coffee; they provide individuals with a space to unwind, socialize, and cope with stress. Using a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, this study explores the experiences of visitors from different age groups in three coffee shops. The findings reveal that sensory engagement, visit duration, and the overall ambiance of coffee shops significantly contribute to emotional relaxation and well-being. Coffee shop owners can leverage these findings to create supportive environments that promote positive coping strategies and enhance the well-being of their customers. Further research is needed to validate these findings in different contexts and examine the long-term effects of coping strategies in coffee shop settings. Understanding the connection between coping strategies and well-being in coffee shop environments has implications for mental health promotion and the development of supportive spaces for individuals to cope with daily pressures.
