Abstract

Dementia is defined as a decrease in intellectual abilities which can cause changes in behavior, disruption in social life, and disruption in daily activities. Palliative care is a useful solution in the future to improve the quality of life for dementia sufferers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This systematic review aims to find out how the implementation of home telemedicine can become the main choice for elderly people with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic. A database search was carried out by the PRISMA protocol focusing on Scopus, Proquest, Sage, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL identified based on MeSH-adjusted keywords, and A total of 2440 article journals were identified. Then deletion so that it remains 1086 article journals were reviewed. Then excluded (238) articles from journals based on 5 years, experimental test method with Randomized Controlled Trial design (RCT) and Experiments in language English, full text to be reviewed for feasibility so that 10 articles were obtained for review. From all articles, media innovation is very useful in implementing palliative care because of the various impacts of the global pandemic through the experiences of people with dementia and their care partners. The role of home-based palliative care using home telemedicine can potentially reduce the long-term impact of palliative care. The important role of palliative care integrated with long-distance services in informing health service priorities is to restore the quality of life and health of elderly people with dementia so that they are better prepared to face the future.

Abstract

Background: Speech delay is a state of speech development that has below average quality. Speech delay is influenced by several factors including the children’s age and parenting style. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between child age and parenting patterns with speech delay. Method: The study was cross-sectional, with a sample size of 70 respondents which from pediatric patients at Kediri Physiotherapy Clinic in 2023, obtained through accidental sampling. The study’s dependent variable was speech delay, and the independent variables were the children's age and parenting style. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Data were collected using a questionnaire analyzed by chi square statistical test. Result: Most children were male (51 respondents) on pre-school with 1 of siblings (42 respondents). Parents were mostly on high level education and they use authoritarian parenting style for their children. Chi square statistical test show that there is no relationship between the children's age and speech delay (p-value = 0,271), and there is a relationship between parenting style and speech delay (p-value = 0.000). Conclusion: Parenting style has a correlation with speech delay. Therefore, the role of parents in providing parenting was very important for children's development. Parents must pay attention to provided stimulation and interaction with children, it was very important for children's growth and development, because the role of parents in caring for children was very impactfull.

Abstract

Abstract

The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasing in low- and middle-income countries, caused by obesity, unhealthy eating patterns, sedentary behavior, and aging. Social support, both from family and friends, is recognized as an important factor in improving health habits and disease management, especially in the case of diabetes. Family education of patients with T2DM can improve self-care behavior and motivation, playing a key role in the concept of family-centered empowerment. This research used a systematic review, where articles were searched in four leading databases, namely Scopus, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and SAGE, starting from early May 2024. The search was carried out using a combination of keywords and MESH terminology related to family and social support in diabetes mellitus patients. Articles selected for review were then evaluated in depth by researchers using JBI critical appraisal tools to address bias. Based on the selection of articles, a total of 10 articles were deemed appropriate for researchers and stated that they had significant results and statements regarding the influence of family and social support in the self-care management of diabetes mellitus sufferers. Family and social support have an impact on diabetes patients through both face-to-face interventions and telenursing, highlighting the ongoing need for continuous support.

Abstract

Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia and claim many lives. Kediri City is an earthquake-prone area because it is home to one of the active volcanoes, Kelud Mountain. Children are among the vulnerable groups most at risk of being affected by disasters. Preparedness is important to be provided early to provide understanding and guidance on the appropriate steps to take when a threat occurs to reduce disaster risk. This community service activity aimed to determine the effect of simulation on earthquake disaster preparedness among students of SDN Pojok 2, Kediri City. The method used a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The samples were taken using cluster random sampling and the sample size used was 46 students. The preparedness data were collected using a questionnaire. The data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results of the activity showed that the level of preparedness before the disaster simulation was almost entirely low (80.5%), the level of preparedness after the disaster simulation was almost entirely high (86.9%), and there was an effect of simulation on earthquake disaster preparedness among students of SDN Pojok 2, Kediri City (ρ = 0.000). Preparedness simulations have significantly improved elementary school students' disaster preparedness. Therefore, it is hoped that disaster management simulations can be implemented in all schools in Kediri City, with training provided to elementary school teachers.
