Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires long-term treatment. In diabetes mellitus patients, physical exercise is often neglected, one of which is due to lack of knowledge. This research aims to determine the effect of educational videos about diabetic foot exercises on implementing foot exercises in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Chania Care Center, Kediri Regency. The research design used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population in this study was 30 respondents. A total sample of 30 respondents was taken using the total sampling technique. The instrument used the observation sheet. Nominal data scale. The analysis test uses the Mc Nemar test. In this research, before giving the educational video, almost all of them did not do leg exercises, namely 23 respondents (76.7%), after giving the educational video, almost all of them did foot exercises, 26 respondents (86.7%). The results of the Mc Nemar Test analysis showed an effect of providing educational videos about diabetic foot exercises on implementing foot exercises in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Chania care center in Kediri district (p-value = 0.001 < α=0.05). A person's knowledge can increase after being given education or health education. Educational methods with videos about diabetes foot exercises can increase DM patients' knowledge of doing foot exercises to improve peripheral blood circulation to the feet.

Abstract

The global COVID-19 pandemic has presented complex challenges to global health. Dr. Soedomo Regional General Hospital in Trenggalek has actively engaged in managing COVID-19 patients. This study aims to analyze the chronopharmacology of paracetamol usage in COVID-19 patients at the hospital, focusing on the body's biological response to the drug at various time points within the 24-hour cycle. In the treatment of COVID-19, the use of paracetamol has become a primary strategy for addressing symptoms such as fever. However, it is crucial to understand how the timing of paracetamol administration can influence the body's response to the treatment. A chronopharmacological study involving 100 patients analyzed body temperature before and after therapy at three different times: 08:00 AM, 04:00 PM, and 10:00 PM. The results revealed a significant decrease in body temperature after therapy, particularly at 04:00 PM. These findings support the concept of "the right time, the right dose" in clinical practice. Analysis of the body's circadian rhythm emphasizes the need to consider the timing of drug administration to achieve optimal outcomes. Despite the limited sample size, this research provides a foundation for the development of more precise practical guidelines for administering paracetamol to COVID-19 patients.

Abstract

Each medication has beneficial effects on the body but also carries harmful side effects. Currently, Indonesian society is becoming increasingly accustomed to the use of various types of medications for purposes such as treating illnesses, managing conditions, or as supplements to support daily activities. Therefore, knowledge about medications is essential for the community to ensure their proper and effective use. The DAGUSIBU program was initiated to enhance public understanding of the wise use and management of medications. Its goal is to increase public awareness and comprehension of proper and accurate medication management and monitoring. The methods employed include lectures using educational leaflets and PowerPoint presentations, discussions, and Q&A sessions. The educational outcomes show a significant improvement: prior to the educational intervention, only 27.3% of respondents had good knowledge. Following the intervention, this figure increased to 90%, representing a 60% improvement. This demonstrates that the activity successfully enhanced public understanding of rational medication use. Posyandu cadres can actively contribute to delivering DAGUSIBU-related education to the community.

Abstract

Asiaticoside, a bioactive compound derived from Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice root), has garnered attention for its potential as a hypolipemic agent. This study explores the lipid-lowering effects of asiaticoside, focusing on its mechanism of action and pharmacological properties. In silico analysis showed a high activation probability (pa=0.934) for asiaticoside, indicating its strong potential to interact with targets involved in lipid metabolism, such as PPAR-α, and reduce blood lipid levels. Additionally, its low inhibition probability (pi=0.003) suggests minimal risk for non-specific biological interference, making it a promising candidate for therapeutic use with a favorable safety profile. Asiaticoside’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties further enhance its potential for cardiovascular protection by reducing oxidative stress, a key factor in atherosclerosis. While preliminary in silico results are promising, further in vitro and in vivo studies are required to confirm its efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics. Overall, asiaticoside represents a promising natural agent for managing hyperlipidemia and related metabolic disorders, offering an alternative to conventional synthetic therapies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cost-benefit of simvastatin therapy compared to atorvastatin in dyslipidemia patients at Apotek 71 Kediri City using the Human Capital Method. Using a cross-sectional study design, this study analyzed 60 patients (30 simvastatin users, 30 atorvastatin users). Productivity loss data was collected through a patient self-report questionnaire and valued monetarily using the assumption of a uniform daily wage. Results showed that direct costs of simvastatin were lower (IDR 75,000/month) than atorvastatin (IDR 210,000/month), but lost productivity in the simvastatin group was higher (IDR 384,000) than atorvastatin (IDR 180,000). The Net Benefit value of simvastatin therapy was -Rp 39,000 with a Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) of 0.91, while atorvastatin produced a Net Benefit of +Rp 210,000 with a BCR of 1.54. The difference in Net Benefit was statistically significant based on an independent t-test (p=0.002). Thus, atorvastatin is more economically efficient than simvastatin because it provides higher productivity benefits despite higher direct costs.
