Abstract

A learning process is said to be good if learning is student-centered. Students perform activities in the learning process by using context as a starting point in learning. Design Research with a cycle that contains components of knowledge (K), design (D), experiment (E), reflection (R) is an alternative to create student-centered learning and obtain information and findings in research. This research was conducted in one of the junior high schools in Palembang City with a sample of 23 students. Research procedures were carried out including observation data analysis, interviews and documentation analysis. The conclusion of this research is that the existing knowledge of students is used as a basis for designing learning activities so that when implementing experiments students are able to carry out activities that are related to the initial abilities of students so that the context appears to be a strating point in learning so that the findings that arise can be analyzed and become a reflection to carry out cycles. Then the effectiveness of learning goes according to design and produces a series of understanding of numbers and also the situation of "pulling" and "stretching" in the kite game can be converted into "positive and "negative" symbols

Abstract

The increasingly uncontrollable issue of plastic waste has captured people's attention. Instilling environmental awareness from an early age is crucial to prevent this problem from being passed down to future generations. This community service program aims to educate students about the importance of environmental preservation and to raise awareness of the dangers posed by non-biodegradable plastic waste. This activity invites students to replace bottled water with reusable tumblers as a practical solution. The socialization activity on the use of tumblers to reduce plastic waste was conducted on November 11, 2024, SDN No. 57 Banda Aceh. Prior to this session, some students already had a basic understanding of plastic waste and its environmental impacts. Positive habits, such as bringing their own tumblers to school instead of purchasing bottled beverages, had already been adopted by a number of students. The event was carried out smoothly and received a highly positive response from the sixth-grade students of SDN 57 Banda Aceh. The students were enthusiastic throughout the entire session and provided excellent feedback during the discussions. Motivational rewards further encouraged students to actively participate in the socialization and pay close attention to the material presented.

Abstract

Abstract. The incidence of bullying among elementary school students has become increasingly alarming. The consequences of bullying are multifaceted, encompassing psychological, sociological, and other detrimental effects. Consequently, there is a pressing need for comprehensive educational interventions to equip students with the knowledge and skills to prevent bullying. This community service project aimed to deliver an extensive educational program on bullying behavior to sixth-grade students at SD Tanjung Selamat, a primary school situated in a rural area. The methodology employed involved interactive communication and role-playing techniques, implemented through three stages: (1) material presentation, (2) interactive questioning, and (3) evaluation. Findings indicate a considerable deficiency in students’ understanding of the various forms, impacts, and identification of bullying prior to the intervention. Following the program, participants exhibited enhanced awareness and recognition of bullying behaviors. Moreover, the initiative sought to sensitize perpetrators to the consequences of their actions, thereby discouraging future occurrences. It is anticipated that this educational effort will promote more responsible student conduct and contribute to fostering a safe and bully-free school environment. Additionally, structural preventative measures involving educators and school committees are recommended to mitigate the recurrence of bullying incidents
