Abstract

This article examines the need for innovation in animation-based learning media grounded in local wisdom as a strategy to strengthen character education in the digital era. The research problem addressed is the lack of culturally relevant digital learning media that effectively instills character values in students. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a systematic literature review of 15 peer-reviewed journals selected based on relevance, publication credibility, and focus on local wisdom integration in education. Content analysis was used to categorize themes related to the role of animation in enhancing student engagement, cultural identity, and character development. The findings indicate that animation-based learning media incorporating local wisdom can improve students' understanding of cultural heritage while fostering values such as cooperation, mutual respect, and responsibility. Specifically, studies reviewed show that students exposed to culturally relevant animations demonstrate increased interest in learning, stronger emotional connections to the content, and improved retention of moral lessons. Furthermore, this approach supports the preservation of cultural values amidst globalization by reinforcing pride in local traditions and encouraging intergenerational knowledge transfer. Despite these benefits, challenges remain in terms of accessibility, digital literacy among educators, and the need for collaboration between cultural experts and multimedia developers. Future research should explore empirical case studies measuring the direct impact of local wisdom-based animation on students' character formation. This innovation presents a viable solution for developing a generation that is academically proficient and deeply rooted in ethical and cultural values.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of the Flipped Classroom learning model in teaching descriptive text reading at Vocational High School in Karawang. In the current digital era, traditional teacher-centered learning often fails to engage students and limits their ability to develop reading comprehension skills. Flipped Classroom offers an alternative by shifting the initial learning process outside the classroom through digital materials, while face-to-face sessions are focused on discussion, problem-solving, and collaborative activities. This research employed a qualitative case study approach involving eight tenth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that students became more active, confident, and better prepared to understand descriptive texts, while teachers benefited from more efficient class time management. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited internet access, insufficient home learning support, and time management issues were observed. The study concludes that while Flipped Classroom enhances students’ reading comprehension and classroom participation, its effectiveness depends on digital infrastructure, student discipline, and teacher facilitation. Therefore, providing training in time management, strengthening the teacher’s role as facilitator, and conducting periodic evaluations are recommended to optimize this method in vocational high schools.

Abstract

The presence of information technology generally has a fairly high positive impact on society. This can help facilitate various community activities. However, unfortunately, there is a lot of misuse of this technology, so as a result there is a need to learn the norms for using technology, especially among students. This research then aims to look at strategies for developing PKN methods so that they can foster digital citizenship by utilizing information and communication technology in schools. This research will be carried out using a qualitative approach. The population used in this research was class XI students at Rawamerta State Vocational School. The results of this research then found that increasing understanding of the concept of digital citizenship can be stimulated through the preparation of Citizenship Education materials that attract students' interest. The attraction of a topic will be an incentive for students to be more active in learning, especially when the material is integrated into the context of everyday life. Contextual digital citizenship material can be presented in the form of concrete experiences, making it easier for students to understand the learning content. Thus, the development of digital citizenship can be successful through this approach.

Abstract

This qualitative study explored pre-service English teachers’ behavioral, normative, and control beliefs toward their intentions to including explicit pronunciation instruction in their future classrooms. The theoretical framework was based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by (Ajzen, 1991) In order to understand these beliefs and the intentions of pre-service English teachers for providing pronunciation instruction. According to Ajzen’s TPB, the behavioral beliefs are based on attitude regarding the benefit or consequences of applying pronunciation instruction, the normative beliefs stand on social support and pressure to apply pronunciation instruction, and the control beliefs lay the foundation of perceived behavioral control over applying pronunciation instruction in a classroom. Data were collected from open-ended survey questions (n=30), semi-structured interviews (n=8) and end of semester reflections (n=8). The findings suggests that pre-service English teachers’ intentions to apply pronunciation instruction are related to their beliefs about the value of these instruction for improving student speech intelligibility, enhance quality of learning engagement and finding wider opportunity in the future (behavioral beliefs), its ability to meet the student needs and wants (normative beliefs), the participants’ high self-efficacy in pronunciation, and its potential for providing interactive classroom activities (control beliefs). From these results, we recommend that teacher educators should target these beliefs within teacher development programs to prepare pre-service English teachers for successful apply of pronunciation instruction in their future classrooms.
