Abstract

The mining industry in Indonesia plays an important role as the source of state income and the part of industrial progress of a nation. The majority of mining industry in Indonesia is an open pit., including clay mine that mined by United Tractors Semen Gresik Ltd in Temandang Village, Tuban. An open pit is a mining method that is directly exposed to the free air because it is above the earth’s surface. Therefore, weather factor greatly affects the productivity of the open pit apart from the factors of work effectiveness and material hardness. The result of the study showed that Temandang area has rainfall 135 mm/month. The average of the small production was 76.000 tons per month, so it becomes the researcher’s attention to analyze how great the rainfall influenced the production decrease. To achieve the production capacity target, an analysis by using linear regression equation, in which equation formula of the best statistical test result is as follow : Log P = 0,5025 x [ log {(Pr x JK)1,99 x (CH)-0,001}] + 0,0013. The calculation result by the mathematical model equation above showed that the effect of rainfall on production decrease was very small. Thus, the working hour and productivity greatly affected the production. So, if the production needs to be increased, then the working hour must be increased

Abstract

The development of the property industry is very influential on the agricultural sector. Gampingrowo Village is an area where most of the people earn their living from agriculture. This relates to the availability of land if the land is used for the property industry. One alternative to overcome the limitations of agricultural land is to apply agricultural cultivation technology with the hydroponic method. The purpose of this service is to provide youth with skills, knowledge about hydroponics. This training method is carried out by providing counseling on hydroponic methods in general and training participants practice to assemble simple starter kits. Participants 25 people were divided into 3 groups where each group got 2 starter kit packages. The results of this dedication were that the participants were very enthusiastic and eager to know more about the hydroponic method with a few questions and they were very happy because the starter kit could be taken home

Abstract

Nowadays, waste is a serious problem, especially plastic waste, which is quite alarming in the world. Plastic is waste that is difficult to degrade and takes hundreds of years to decompose. One of the promising technologies for recycling plastics is pyrolysis. This is the process of breaking long chains of polymers into hydrocarbons which are carried out at high temperatures. The purpose of this paper was to know the effect of using catalysts and non-catalysts on yield and calorific value. In this study, the pyrolysis process used a natural zeolite catalyst with a temperature of 500ºC. 50 grams of HDPE Plastic feed was put into the reactor for 3 hours. The variations in the addition of Zeolite catalyst were 1.5, 2.5, 3.75 and 5%wt. The results goals that the highest yield was 44.36% and the heating value of 10230.295 cal/g for the addition of 5 grams of catalyst. Abstract

Activated carbon was produced from high-grade bituminous coal, potentially removing Cr metal in textile industrial waste. The purposes of this study were 1) getting activated carbon characteristics, 2) studying the impact of reagent concentration and activation temperature on the activated carbon characteristics, and 3) getting the isotherm adsorption equation for activated carbon developed by Freundlich and Langmuir on Cr metal. This research used an experimental method with a laboratory scale, which means the manufacture of activated carbon and a test of adsorbs power of activated carbon to the Cr metal were conducted in the laboratory. Activated carbon manufacture through carbonization process of chemical activation used reagent (NH4)3PO4, neutralization, filtration, physical activation, and cooling. At the same time, it tested the adsorption power of the activated carbon to Cr metal through activated carbon contact with a solution containing some Cr6+ ion. The update in this research was using reagent (NH4)3PO4 and the test of adsorption power of activated carbon to Cr6+ ion contained in the artificial waste. This research showed activated carbon that has been activated using reagent (NH4)3PO4 0.5 – 2 M at physical activation temperature of 825oC and has met the standard of SNI number 06-3730-1995. The best-activated carbon was produced from chemical activation using (NH4)3PO4 1 M solution and physical activation at 825oC. The best-activated carbon characteristics contained 1.27% water; 17.17% content of volatile matter, 9.39% was ash content; 73.17% contained fixed carbon, and the iodine value was 1248.30 mg/g. The best Equation of Langmuir isotherm adsorption of activated carbon to the Cr6+ produced Constant Ar = -90.0901 and Kc = -0.0075.

Abstract

Karbon aktif merupakan bahan yang sering digunakan sebagai adsorben karena memiliki luas permukaan yang lebih besar daripada jenis adsorben lainnya. Karbon aktif dapat diproduksi dari berbagai macam bahan dasar organik maupun anorganik yang mempunyai kandungan karbon dan berpori salah satunya yaitu serbuk kayu. Proses utama pembuatan karbon aktif berupa proses karbonasi dan aktivasi secara fisika atau kimia. Dari hasil studi literatur, diperoleh hasil karakterisasi karbon aktif terbaik berupa BET Surface Area sebesar 2435 m2/g dari bahan dasar serbuk kayu Paulownia dengan aktivasi kimia, Bilangan iodin sebesar 1019 mg/g dari serbuk kayu Bakau dengan aktivasi kimia, dan Karbon aktif dari serbuk kayu dapat menyerap limbah logam berat berupa Fosfat, Pb(II), Fe, Mn, Cr(VI), Nitrat dan juga Uranium. Karbon aktif juga dapat menyerap zat warna berupa Metilen Biru dan DB2B (Direct Blue 2B). Kata kunci: Karbon Aktif, Serbuk Kayu, Adsorpsi

Abstract

Peningkatan kendaraan bermotor, meningkatkan jumlah sampah ban bekas. Pemanfaatan ban bekas menjadi produk bahan bakar sangat memungkinkan untuk dilakukan. Salah satu solusi alternatif masalah sampah ban dengan cara mengubah menjadi bahan bakar dengan metode pirolisis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui nilai kalor minyak hasil pirolisis, mengetahui pengaruh penambahan temperatur reaktor dan penambahan katalis ?-alumina terhadap yield dan nilai kalor dari minyak hasil pirolisis, serta mengetahui % area fraksi bahan bakar yang terkandung dalam minyak hasil pirolisis. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan percobaan langsung proses pirolisis di laboratorium. Pirolisis dilakukan selama 2 jam dengan temperatur reaktor 400 oC, 450 oC, dan 500 oC. Rasio berat katalis dan ban yang digunakan adalah 1:100, 3:100, 5:100, dan tanpa penambahan katalis. Hasil yield terbesar yang diperoleh didapatkan dari pirolisis dengan bahan karet ban luar dengan rasio katalis 5:100 pada temperatur 500oC yaitu 35,34%, sedangkan nilai kalor minyak terbesar dihasilkan tanpa penambahan katalis pada temperatur 500oC yaitu 8245.298 kal/g.

Abstract

This research was undertaken to study the effect of adding silver nitrate (AgNO3) during leaching of gold ore for Aurecovery. Its focus is to obtain the weight of Au in feed and concentrate, the effect of AgNO3 on Au recovery, theconcentration of AgNO3 that led to optimum recovery, and the weight of bullion and Au content in bullion. This research was conducted using quantitative descriptive method with experimental technique and the research stepsinclude the following: 1) rock and treatment plant preparation, 2) tests with variable AgNO3 concentrations, 3) analysis feed and concentrate samples using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), 4) measurement of concentrate density, 5) burning of activated carbon to get the bullion, and 6) weighing bullion and Au content. There was increase Au recovery from 12.57% to 36.15%. On addition of 0 to 4 gram of AgNO3, whereby highest recovery was obtained on the additionof 4 g of AgNO3 concentration to 150 kg of feed.

Abstract

There are always problems caused by waste at various regional levels, starting from the village, sub-district, district/city levels even at the national and state levels. The rate of population growth is increasing rapidly which has an impact on increasing the amount of waste. The Landfill for waste in Bojonegoro Regency had been overloaded since 2019, which in 2020 will operate a new Landfill in the western region. Improper planning will be able to cause financial losses but on the contrary if done with proper planning it will create opportunities to advance the economy for the surrounding community. The supporting capacity of the Landfill is an important thing that had to be considered in planning the development and operation of the Landfill, in order to be able to support the activities of using the landfill in a sustainable manner. The purpose of this research was to find out whether the new Landfill was feasible to operate by considering the estimated costs incurred and the income earned. The calculation of the economic supporting capacity was carried out using the Landfill economic valuation method. The results of the calculation of the economic carrying capacity of the new landfill had a benefit cost ratio (BCR) of 1.16, with an IRR value of 35.48% so that the New landfill activity was feasible to carry out.

Abstract

Di Indonesia, virus corona menyebar dari Timur ke Barat. Keterlambatan penanganan pencegahan, sosialisasi, dan ketersediaan alat pelindung diri kepada masyarakat menjadi salah satu penyebab percepatan penyebaran virus corona. Distribusi terbanyak di kotabesar dengan tingkat mobilitas tinggi dan wilayah padat penduduk, seperti Surabaya. Salah satu langkah awal pencegahan adalah dengan menggunakan Alat Pelindung Diri (APD) seperti masker atau pelindung wajah. Dusun Tegalsari merupakan dusun pinggiran Kabupaten Sidoarjo yang termasuk sulit dijangkau. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mengedukasi masyarakat untuk mencegah penyebaran virus corona kepada warga di Tegalsari. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu survei, pengadaan alat pelindung diri secara langsung, dan penyuluhan kesehatan. Survei dilakukan berdasarkan koordinasi dengan kepala dusun. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini diawali dengan memberi edukasi kesehatan kepada masyarakat setempat. Selanjutnya, pembagian alat pelindung diri secara langsung diberikan kepada ketua rukun tetangga secara kolektif untuk masyarakat desa tegalsari. APD berupa masker diberikan kepada 145 kepala keluarga di Desa Tegalsari. Kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan berupa edukasi kesehatan masyarakat sekitar dalam penerapan pola hidup bersih dan sehat, salah satunya adalah langkah-langkah mencuci tangan yang benar dan pentingnya menggunakan APD minimal masker ketika beraktifitas di luar rumah. Selain itu, menempelkan stiker pencegahan corona dan pengadaan tempat cuci tangan yang diletakkan di tempat-tempat strategis.

Abstract

The face-to-Face teaching-learning process required several preparations to prevent the re-emergence of Covid-19. Students are the majority of campus inhabitants involved in the teaching-learning process, so compliance in implementing healthy protocols is very important. Hand washing is one of the health protocols which must be carried out because it is an important activity. This research aimed to develop a model of handwashing behaviour and examine the effects of knowledge variables (Z1), attitudes (Z2), and the facilities of soap, water, and hand sanitiser (Z3) on the handwashing behaviour (Y). Model examine used a set of empirical data collected from 101 chemical engineering students randomly. Then, the writers collected, sorted, and analysed the data statistically using descriptive statics, multiple linear regression test, T-test, and F test. Data representation, validation, and data correlation were conducted in MS Excel and SPSS 20. Multiple linear regression test produced the equation of Y = 3.722 + 0.035Z1 + 0.142Z2 + 0.269Z3 + e. The T-test showed that knowledge was not partially affecting handwashing behaviour; both attitude and facilities, each behaviour affected handwashing behaviour partially. The F test explained that knowledge, attitudes, and facilities simultaneously affected hand wash behaviour. Determination coefficient testing of the model showed that knowledge, attitudes, and facilities of soap, water, and hand sanitiser gave 48.3% contribution from all variables which influenced handwashing behaviour. The development of handwashing behaviour could be conducted by providing the stimuli like socialising the importance of handwashing (through posters, banners, and counselling between lecturing) and providing soap, water, and hand sanitiser facilities on campus corners. It involved the students in the socialisation and provided the handwashing facilities.
