Abstract

Background: The time between the patient's arrival and the testing findings is known as the waiting time for the results of a x-ray chest. The amount of time patients must wait to receive medical care from a health service unit, it also reflects how the hospital handles service components that are customized to the needs and demands of patients in public hospitals. This study aims to determine the suitability of waiting time for outpatient chest x-ray services with the standard of Indonesia Ministry of Health No.129/Menkes/SK/II/2008.Methods: The type of research used in this paper is qualitative by using the case study for analyzing the waiting time of x-ray chest in outpatients. Results: Eight patients, or 16% of the total had waiting time of three hours or more. Out of all patients, 84% or 42 patients had a waiting period of less than three hours. 22 minutes is the quickest waiting time, while 5 hours 56 minutes is the late waiting time. Such that in outpatients, the typical wait time for a x-ray chest picture is one hour and thirty minutes. Conclusions: Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital Palembang in adjusting the Minimum Service Standards the Hospital has met the minimum service standards of the Decree of the Minister of Health No. 129/Menkes/SK/II/2008 that the waiting time for a chest photo is ≤ 3 hours.

Abstract

Background: In dealing with infertility problems, a deep understanding of the specific causes becomes very important for proper treatment. One of the diagnostic methods often used to assess infertility conditions is hysterosalpingography (HSG). The superiority of HSG lies in its ability to provide clear visual information about the structural condition of the uterus and fallopian tubes, which are key factors in fertilization. Methods: This qualitative descriptive research uses a case study approach conducted at Sriwijaya Siloam Hospital in Palembang to compare the results of HSG examination in primary infertility clinics. Results: In this study, the results of HSG examinations in two patients with clinical primary infertility showed that there was a difference in the picture. The results of the HSG examination in first patient showed both non-patent tubes, where distal occlusion of the right fallopian tube and left peritubal adhesion were found, while in second patient it showed both patent tubes with a positive spill sign. Conclusions: Differences in the results of HSG examinations in primary infertility clinics show the conclusion that even though HSG shows a patent fallopian tube, the couple may still experience primary infertility. This shows that the cause of infertility can come from other factors and requires further evaluation.

Abstract

Coal mining, handling, and transportation activities are major sources of airborne particulate matter containing respirable crystalline silica, which poses significant risks to respiratory health. Silicosis remains a serious occupational and environmental disease affecting not only workers but also communities living near coal-handling areas. Physical environmental factors, including air quality, temperature, humidity, and wind speed, play an important role in influencing dust generation, dispersion, and inhalation exposure. This narrative review aims to synthesize current evidence on the influence of physical environmental conditions on silica exposure and silicosis development, integrating findings from environmental monitoring studies, epidemiological research, and experimental Wistar rat models. A literature search was conducted using major scientific databases to identify relevant peer-reviewed articles published between 2010 and 2024. The reviewed evidence indicates that prolonged or high-intensity exposure to silica dust is strongly associated with chronic pulmonary inflammation and progressive fibrosis. Environmental conditions can exacerbate exposure risk by increasing airborne particulate concentrations and respiratory vulnerability. Experimental studies using Wistar rats provide mechanistic insights into silica-induced lung injury, supporting epidemiological observations in human populations. This review highlights the importance of integrating environmental, occupational, and biological perspectives to improve risk prediction, early detection, and preventive strategies for silicosis in coal-handling regions.

Abstract

Abstract

The COVID-19 cases in Palembang are still increasing every day. This pandemic has forced the adaptation of the "New Normal" lifestyle, which will have an impact on communicable and non-communicable diseases. The Sinovac vaccine used in the COVID-19 vaccination program for Health Care Workers (HCW), which is a top priority, is still a new vaccine, so a survey of complaints and the determinant is important. This study aimed to survey complaints and the determinant of Post COVID-19 Vaccination (Sinovac) Adverse Events among HCW. A cross-sectional study was conducted in Palembang between June and August 2021 on 414 HCWs who received the COVID-19 vaccine injection. The instrument consisted of demographic characteristics, marital status, distance to health care facilities, Body Mass Index (BMI), diet, sleep quality, anxiety, and some medical histories. Overall, although many, all complaints were classified as mild. There was a significant relationship between age, anxiety, and history of food allergy with Post COVID-19 Vaccination Adverse Events (p-value = 0.003; 0.017; 0.050), and anxiety was the determinant of the adverse events (p-value < 0.05). However, there was a significant relationship between age, anxiety, and history of food allergy with Post COVID-19 Vaccination Adverse Events indicates that these factors need to be considered in determining the standard operational procedure for the next vaccination. While there was no significant relationship between obesity, diet, sleep quality, history of drug allergy, atopic disease, hypertension, and dyspepsia syndrome are expected to increase public knowledge and confidence so there will be no worries about receiving the vaccine.
