Abstract

The application of Ion Pair-Reversed Phase chromatography (IP-RP) technique for speciation of dibutyltin (DBT),tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin (TPhT) species has been studied. All of the species were able to separate on an ionpair-reversed phase chromatographic column. The eluats were detected online by the use of Hydride Generation-QuartzFurnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (HG-QFAAS) method. The eluent consisted of a mixture of methanol :water : acetic acid with a composition of 80:19:1, containing 1 mM of decane sulfonate as ion pairing reagent. The pHof the eluent was adjusted with 1 M H2SO4. The separation of all the species at the above conditions was good, whichwas shown by the values of the fundamental chromatographic parameters. The capacity factor (k) for DBT, TBT andTPhT species were 0.27, 2.54 and 5.92 respectively. The resolution (Rs) values for DBT-TBT and TBT-TPhT separationwere 2.92 and 2.42 respectively, while the selectivity for DBT-TBT and TBT-TPhT were 9.76 and 3.50, respectively.These data show the effectiveness of the developed chromatographic system.

Abstract

A research aiming at developing preconcentration method using ion exchange resin column for Cu2+ and Pb2+ ionsanalysis in the stream of Citarum river and the Saguling lake has been carried out. The preconcentration method wasperformed using a mini column filled with Dowex 50W-X8. The preconcentration method was developed to beincorporated with the flow injection analysis (FIA), for which water samples were passed through the mini column andby eluting with 3 M HCl, and the eluate was detected by an atomic absorption spectrophotometer detector. The optimalconditions for the best analytical performance with FIA-AAS method were 5 mL injection volume of waters samples, theeluent HCl concentration was 3 M and the volume was 1 mL. The limit of detection achieved by this method for Cu andPb ions were 5.26 dan 24.57 ppb, respectively. The reproducibility level shown by the coefficient of variance for thismethod was 2.11%. The method was applied to natural water samples with a recovery percentage of > 95%. The spikemethod develoved in this research, for matrices of water sample from Citarum river and the Saguling lake, has itsadvantage that the matrices did not affect the results of measurements.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang pembuatan dan Karakterisasi membran elektroda selektif ion Cu2+ berbasis Polivinilklorida (PVC) dengan menggunakan etilen diamin tetra asetat (EDTA) sebagai ionofor telah dilakukan. EDTA mengandung unsur nitrogen yang memiliki pasangan elektron bebas, mampu mengikat ion Cu2+ melalui ikatan kovalen koordinasi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan konduktivitas membran. Untuk memperbaiki kekuatan fisik membran, digunakan PVC sebagai matriks dan dioktil fenil fosfonat (DOP) sebagai pemlastisnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komposisi optimum membran adalah pada perbandingan; EDTA : PVC: DOP  adalah  60 : 30 : 10. Konsentrasi optimum dopan Cu2+ adalah 1 M dengan harga konduktivitas 4,62 x 10-2 Ohm1m-1. Hasil analisis FT-IR menunjukkan adanya perubahan bilangan gelombang pada gugus karboksil dan gugus N-H dari EDTA sehingga dimungkinkan terjadinya ikatan dengan ion Cu2+. Abstract

The research about application of electrocoagulation method regarding the decrease level of metal ion such Fe, Mn, turbidity and color on peat water treatment ini batch method had been done. The research in batch method using alumunium (Al) plat as electrode until obtained higher efficiency elimination on voltages of 12 volt with electrocoagulation process time, 120 minute in batch method. The result on variation of voltages was capable to decrease Fe level with efficiency 99.87% from 3.6899 mg/L become 0.0045 mg/L and followed by Mn 95.90% from 0.0244 mg/L become -0.0008 mg/L, turbidity 98% from 385 NTU become 0,95 NTU and color 97.67% from 338.08 Pt-Co become 7.8646 Pt-Co. Long term variation of contact was capable to decrease fe level with efficiency 99.57% from 3.6899 mg/L to 0.0158 mg/L followed by Mn 93.03% from 0.0244 mg/L become 0.0017 mg/L, turbidity 99.74% from 385 NTU to 0.97 NTU and color 98.73% from 338.08 Pt-Co become 4.2985 Pt-Co. Abstract

Degradation of blue dye waste in Sarong Samarinda production using WO3-bleaching earth (BE) has been conducted. Structural and morphological characterization has conducted using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). The X-ray diffraction results show the mineral on bleaching earth is rectorite dioctahedral mica layer and dioctahedral smectite with a ratio 2:1. The WO3 pattern is appeared after the calcination. After calcination at 500°C, the WO3 is deposited homogeneously on the BE surface. The catalytic performance of WO3-BE for photodegradation of the blue dye waste under the solar light is 99.85 % within 1 h.

Abstract

Determination of chloramphenicol on broiler meat in the traditional market by using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method has been done. The optimal of result determination to obtain, the HPLC system has been optimized for the important parameters are a composition of the mobile phase, injection sample volume, flow rate, and even pH. The result of research shown that the optimum conditions to obtain from the research are a composition of mobile phase methanol: water (80: 20), injection sample volume 5 μL, flow rate 0.5 mL/minute and eluent pH are 6 has been achieved. The analytical performance of the method has been optimized and gives a good performance which shown with reproducibility of this method as the coefficient of variation percentage (% CV) was 0.2198 %, limit of detection was 0.1051 mg/L, and  % recovery for the chicken meat sample with 3 different samples more than 95 %. This result showed this method capable of an application for the routine analysis of the determination chloramphenicol content in samples

Abstract

The research about the preconcentration of Ni(II) ions using Ca-alginate resin modified with dimethylglyoxime (DMG) as a material filler of the column has been done. The stage of preconcentration done by using the water sample was passed through the column, then eluted using HNO3. The amount of Ni(II) in the eluate was measured using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Several important parameters in the preconcentration stage have been studied. The optimal condition at the stage of preconcentration Ni(II) ions was retention at pH 4, the volume of sample was 10 mL, the volume of HNO3 eluent was 4 mL at a concentration of 1.5 M, with the retention of capacity value was 2.4657 mg Ni(II)/g resin. The analytical performance of this method is good, showed with repeatability value as a percentage of the coefficient of variance value was 4.06%, and can increase the limit detection of Ni(II) ions was 3.94 times if compared to direct measurements with AAS. The method can be applied to the determination of Ni(II) ions in the water samples from Mahakam river at port Samarinda with recovery percentage value was > 95 %, indicating that the matrix of samples did not affect the results of measurements.

Abstract

Synthesis Methyl Ester Sulfonate ( MES ) from Karet seed oil methyl ester (Havea Brasiliensis.) through sulfonation reaction have been carried out. The results showed Karet seed oil content 46,45%, acid value 9,79623 mg KOH/ g oil and ALB levels of 4,92343%. First Bintaro seed oil is converted into methyl esters through an esterification process with variation of oil and methanol ratio at 1 : 6 using 4 % H2SO4 catalyst, in order to obtain a decrease in acid number of 3,60333 %. The results of GC-MS analysis showed the composition of the most dominant methyl ester is methyl linoleate by 34,19%. Synthesis sulfonation performed by reacting of methyl ester with variants 40%, 60%, and 80 % H2SO4 at a mole fraction ratio of 1 : 1.4 by varying the length of sulfonation time of 90 minutes, purification was performed using methanol 60 % v/v and H2O2 3 % v/v, with neutralization using 20 % NaOH. Sulfonation process is done using methods reflux. The optimum condition of synthesis of MES is sulfonation time reaction at 90 minutes, with the acquisition value of the voltage drop in the water level of 46,7728%. FT-IR spectra provide specific absorption peak for the group -C - O of an ester which characterize the existence of the MES as an ester compound at wave number 1168 cm- 1. Abstract

The synthesis of methyl esters from rubber seed oil (Hevea brasiliensis) as biodiesel, using fruit bintaro ash utilization as a source of base catalysts in the transesterification reaction has been conducted. The determination of the base content in the fruit ash bintaro have been researched with alkalinity titration and K ion content determinated with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Base catalyst were obtained ash bintaro fruit mixed in methanol and used for the transesterification of rubber seed oil. Produce of biodiesel used with ash bintaro fruit weight of variety was 4-8 % (w/w). The fatty acid composition of rubber seed oil from transesterification results determined by using GC-MS, whereas some physical properties of biodiesel determined to know the quality of biodiesel. The results of research shows the of potassium contents in the form of potassium carbonate in ash bintaro fruit are 31.75% (w/w) and conversion of biodiesel obtained from each catalyst are 65.2; 66.6; 73.6; 69.8; and 69.2% (w / w) respectively. Data analiysis GC-MS dominant of fatty acids in the biodiesel contents are metil linoleatewith amount was 42.57%.

Abstract

Platinum purpose as a catalysts on the cathode in a fuel cell hydrogen system gets a role in disconnection of O 2 molecules. Power adsorption and dissociation of O 2 molecules determined the effectiveness and efficiency of the nature of catalyst that is utilized. All thid time metal is considered the most effective as a catalyst in fuel cells hydrogen is Pt. After be done investigation and calculation is known about platinum and iron alloy (Pt-Fe) can be utilized as a catalyst that has approached the effectiveness and efficiency of pure Pt metal. One of the way to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the catalyst Pt-Fe alloys by calculating the value of the potential energy surface (PES). PES value calculation is done using density functional theory calculations. Analysis’s result point out the value of the potential energy surface (PES) O 2 molecules in the Pt-Fe metal fusion for -929.8341 Ry with optimal distance of 2.4908 A of Pt-Fe’s metal surface and distances among O atoms as big as 3.3211 A.
