Abstract

Songket, as one of Indonesia's textile cultural heritage, has a long history that reflects the richness of tradition and outstanding craftsmanship. However, in recent decades, songket has faced challenges that threaten its survival, including fashion changes, lack of artisan regeneration, and competition with modern textile products. This article explores the journey of songket from its heyday in the past to the revitalization efforts made to restore that glory in the modern era. Through a qualitative approach, this study explores strategies applied by various stakeholders, including craftsmen, designers, government, and communities, to maintain and promote songket as a relevant cultural product with high economic value. Case studies from various songket-producing regions in Indonesia show that design innovation, education, and cross-sector collaboration play an important role in this process. The results of this study provide insight into how reviving cultural heritage can be a source of pride and economic sustainability for local communities. In conclusion, songket's journey from heritage dreams to real glory is an inspiring example of how traditional cultural richness can be integrated into contemporary contexts to create sustainable benefits.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to promote and strengthen the values of interreligious tolerance in South Sumatra through the introduction and preservation of Kemaro Island as a symbol of tolerance. Kemaro Island is a small island in the Musi River, Palembang, which is known for the legend of love between a Chinese prince and a princess of Palembang as well as the existence of Buddhist temples that are side by side with the traditions of the local community. Through a series of activities such as workshops, seminars, cultural exhibitions, and educational tours, the program engages various elements of society, including youth, religious leaders, and academics, to understand the history and cultural values of Kemaro Island. This activity also includes training for local tour guides to be able to convey accurate and interesting information about Kemaro Island to visitors. In addition, this program seeks to increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining and preserving cultural sites as valuable heritage. It is hoped that through this activity, the community can better appreciate cultural and religious diversity and foster a spirit of tolerance and harmony in daily life. The results of this PKM activity will be documented in the form of scientific reports and publications, and are expected to be a model for other regions in developing and promoting the values of tolerance through local cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the latest developments in the application of machine learning, software, applications, and websites in language teaching. With the advancement of technology, language learning is increasingly facilitated by the use of digital tools that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve the learning experience in an adaptive and interactive manner. The study reviewed a variety of platforms that use this technology, including key features that support personalization, automated feedback, and student performance assessments. In addition, this study discusses the effectiveness of the technology in supporting independent and formal learning in the classroom, including implementation challenges in various educational settings. It was found that although this technology provides a great opportunity in accelerating language learning, there are some limitations, such as limited access in regions with low digital infrastructure, as well as lack of integration with relevant cultural and social contexts in language learning. This study concludes that machine learning-based technology in language teaching has great potential, but further research is needed to optimize its application in various educational contexts.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess how well the process-genre training in the EFL writing course worked. It also examined the rhetorical strategies and devices authors employed in their essay. The effectiveness of the intervention was also assessed based on how the kids felt about it. It was limited to eighth grade at SMP N 2 Sungai Lilin. This was accomplished by using a quasi-experimental method. The study's experimental group (EG) and control group (CG) were made up of Sections A (N=40) and C (N=39), using the simple random sample approach. The EG was exposed to process-genre intervention while the CG received the conventional writing training. Two research tools were used to collect the data: an interview and a pre-post intervention writing test. The experimental and controlling technique was applied as a result. The eighth-grade English textbook acted as both an EG and CG teaching resource. A paired samples t-test in SPSS 20 was used to compare test results between groups, and an independent samples t-test was performed to compare test outcomes between the two groups at the pre-post-test. Positive changes were made to the students' attitudes toward process-genre writing instruction. EFL teachers need to be capable and skilled when putting the training into their writing classes. Last but not least, it is suggested to do more research by increasing the intervention period to investigate the outcomes of process-genre based writing instruction as an instructional technique in EFL writing classrooms.

Abstract

English Language has many unique properties among which are words; the most tangible elements of a language. Morphology has an impact on Language learners’ ability to both listen and speak efficiently in English. Indeed, the most serious problems of teaching English have to do with the quality of the teachers available for teaching the language as nearly all such teachers are L2 speakers. The paper aims to broaden the scope and knowledge of students and their teachers on word use and word formation through paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations. Accordingly, the possibility of effecting appreciable improvement in the quality of the English spoken in the country as a whole would appear very remote if the study of words and their relationships continue to be neglected in schools. The paper recommends the training of teachers in Contractive Linguistics who are unable to understand and consequently devise effective pedagogical strategies for combating the mostlymother-tongue-induced kinds of learners' errors that recur in students' written and oral performances in the language

Abstract

This study evaluated the readiness of English lecturers at the Darussalam Polytechnic to face the transformation of digital learning in the 5.0 era. Using a retrospective case study approach, this study identified the factors that affect lecturers' readiness and the challenges they face in adopting digital technology in teaching. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, which were analyzed using descriptive and thematic analysis techniques. The study results showed that English lecturers at the Darussalam Polytechnic have a positive attitude towards digital learning and show an increase in technological literacy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the limitations of technological infrastructure and the need for continuous training remained significant challenges. This study concluded that lecturers' readiness to face digital transformation was quite significant, but it still needed to be improved through infrastructure improvement, continuous training, and institutional support. The results of this research are expected to contribute to the development of educational policies and teaching practices at the Darussalam Polytechnic and other higher education institutions in Indonesia
