Abstract

Achieving a learning purpose can be measured by learning participants. Learning results are the output of the learning process that learners produce from the learning activities that have been followed. These learning results relate to learners' ability and a supportive and far-reaching learning approach. So it is very important to know between components in the learning result. The scientific literacy approach and the ability to ask questions are key elements in improved learning. The study was intended to identify the impact between scientific literacy and the ability to inquire about the results of studying science at MTs Ngawi. The method of research used was the quantitative study method. The study population is MTS Ngawi with a study sample of 120 respondents from an ix class at kendal's MTS Al-Hidayah and MTsN 3 Ngawi. The study uses a question item test as an instrument for data collection that has been tested as a validity and religious one. The data obtained is analyzed with a quantitative description and statistics using linear mixed regression test analysis, anova, and coefficient determinations (R2). Based on the results of this study, it has been achieved that scientific literacy variables and the ability to ask affect simultaneously the results of studying science in 79% MTs with a regression of 62.824.

Abstract

Reasoning is one of the cognitive abilities developed to gain knowledge. Students must have the ability to reason so that they can solve a problem through common sense. They can see accurate information. However, in most communities, many myths or issues are spread among the public, some of which are not even true, so it would be better if science learning were connected to socioscientific issues. This research aims to explore the challenges of junior high school teachers in improving students' rational thinking abilities when they design and facilitate learning of socioscientific issues in the classroom. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Mlarak with research samples, namely science teachers at SMPN 1 Mlarak Ponorogo and class 7C students at SMPN 1 Mlarak. This research uses a qualitative approach, applying in-depth interview and observation methods. This research uses the N VIVO application to analyze data. From this research, the results showed that several things were challenges for teachers in improving students' rational thinking abilities through socioscientific issue-based learning, namely students' abilities, limited time, and difficulty finding relevant examples. Knowing the challenges teachers face in teaching provides an idea of finding the right solution to overcome the problems.

Abstract

Indonesia faces serious challenges in developing logical thinking skills, particularly in science. This skill is crucial because it serves as the foundation for students to analyze, evaluate, and create solutions to complex problems, not only in school but also in everyday life. Unfortunately, data from various sources indicates that Indonesian students' logical thinking skills are still far below global standards. The TIMSS consistently ranks Indonesia at the bottom, ranking 44th out of 49 countries with a score of 397. This study aims to 1. Determine the implementation of the CBL with the quiz technique on logical thinking skills. 2. Determine student activities during the implementation of the CBL model with the quiz technique on logical thinking skills. 3. Determine the effectiveness of the CBL with the quiz technique on logical thinking skills. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research design involved an experimental class implementing the CBL with the quiz technique, and a control class using conventional learning methods. Data were collected after being tested for validity and reliability. The results of the study showed that the average student activity during the implementation of the CBL with the quiz technique reached 83% which is included in the good category. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significant difference in students' logical thinking abilities between the experimental class and the control class, where the sig value (2 tailed) was 0.000. The N-Gain analysis showed that the average N-Gain value of the experimental class was 0.74, which was categorized as "moderate and quite effective". Thus, this study concluded that the CBL with the quiz technique was effective in improving students' logical thinking abilities.
