Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang terdapat dalam teks kelong karya Kembong Daeng yang diposting melalui media sosial facebook. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan nilai pendidikan karakter yang terdapat dalam teks kelong karya Kembong Daeng melalui media sosial facebookyaitu: (1) nilai religius (ikhlas, ketaatan, dan kesadaran spiritual), (2) nilai nasionalisme (semangat kebangsaan, dan kepedulian sosial), (3) nilai integritas (berpikir rasional, tanggung jawab, dan konsisten), (4) nilai mandiri (tekun, disiplin, dan pengendalian diri) dan (5) nilai gotong royong (cinta damai, tolongmenolong, dan solidaritas). Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam teks kelong karya Kembong Daeng yang diposting melalui media sosial facebook terdapat nilai pendidikan karakter.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the ability of Grade VIII students at UPT SMP Negeri 3 Lappariaja, Bone Regency, in writing persuasive texts in Bugis. The population consisted of 45 students from two classes (VIII A and VIII B). Total sampling was employed, and data collection used tests. Results showed that the average score of students' ability in writing persuasive texts in Bugis was 72.76, categorized as proficient. However, based on the criteria that students' ability is considered proficient if 70% or more of the sample students score 70-100, and not proficient if less than 70%, the students' ability in writing persuasive texts in Bugis is considered not proficient. This is because only 26 students (58%) scored 70-100. Therefore, the ability of Grade VIII students at UPT SMP Negeri 3 Lappariaja in writing persuasive texts in Bugis is categorized as not proficient.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat kecepatan membaca dan pemahaman isi bacaan dengan menggunakan teknik skimming pada siswa kelas VIII 1 SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. Metode penelitian pada karya ini yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif. Adapun data dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII 1 UPT SPF SMP Negeri 26 Makassar. Untuk teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan tes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu data primer dan sekunder, Pada bagian data primer peneliti menggunakan observasi dan pada data sekunder menggunakan berita. Validitas data dilakukan pada penelitian ini menguji keabsahan data. Adapun proses penelitian, pertama peneliti memberikan teks berita mendalam sebagai bahan uji yang siswa baca dengan menggunakan teknik skimming yang akan dinilai oleh peneliti seberapa cepat siswa tersebut membaca, kedua setelah siswa berhasil membaca teks berita mendalam selanjutnya peneliti memberikan sebuah esai sebanyak 6 nomor yang telah mengandung unsur 5W+1H sebagai bahan uji untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman siswa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa 17 siswa berhasil memenuhi kategori rata-rata kecepatan baca ideal dengan 150-300 Kpm dan 24 siswa berhasil memenuhi kategori baik pada pemahaman isi bacaan dengan 71-90 nilai. Hal ini menunjukkan siswa kelas VIII 1 UPT SPF SMP Negeri 26 Makassar telah memenuhi kategori terampil untuk keterampilan membaca ekstensif.

Abstract

Digital communicative competency has evolved into a must for EFL students in the twenty-first century if they are to connect boldly and appropriately in English via email, video conferences, and messaging apps. This study aims to examine how the Talking Stick learning paradigm affects EFL students' digital communicative competence, or their capacity to communicate confidently, appropriately, and effectively in English across digital platforms. This study used a quantitative research design, using a survey approach. The findings show that all four dimensions had statistically significant improvements, with the highest gain in Confidence in Digital Communication, and displayed a statistically significant increase. Confidence in Digital Communication (M difference = 0.91) had the highest significant mean improvement; closely followed was Clarity in Online Expression (M difference = 0.89). The observed variations were statistically significant since all p-values were less than 0.05. These results suggest that in EFL environments, the Talking Stick model efficiently supports several aspects of digital communication. This study concludes that the Talking Stick learning model effectively enhances EFL students' digital communicative competence, improving key areas such as confidence, clarity, appropriateness, and engagement in online communication.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the storytelling skills of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. The research method used is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. This descriptive method involves collecting data to test hypotheses or answer questions about people's opinions on an issue or topic. Quantitative research emphasises analysis of numerical data processed using statistical methods. With the quantitative method, the significance of the relationship between variables will be obtained. The reason the researcher chose this type of research is because it is very effective for researching students' storytelling skills. The results of the study on the storytelling skills of skilled students show that the recapitulation of the aspect score is 71.87, which is in the range of 56-75. This falls under the category of fairly skilled. From several assessment aspects, namely: (a) language usage skills, which include the proper and correct use of the Makassar language and communicative or easily understood by the audience (children), (b) vocal processing skills (articulation, tempo, and appropriate intonation), (c) mastery of the material, (d) expression/interpretation skills, (e) creativity, including costumes, props, and stage presence. Thus, it can be concluded that the students' storytelling skills are categorised as fairly skilled because, out of the 32 samples, 71.87% of the students obtained scores in the 56-75 range, which is the highest skill level.

Abstract

Early childhood language development relies heavily on cognitive processes together with environmental quality of stimulation. This quantitative investigation determines the measures to which both cognitive engagement and environmental elements contribute towards children's language growth. A standard survey and official language testing instruments gathered information from three hundred children between ages 3 and 6 from distinct economic groups. The statistical analysis using multiple regression demonstrates that cognitive stimulation (β = 0.55, p < 0.001) as well as environmental stimulation (β = 0.41, p < 0.001) serve as significant predictors of language acquisition with an explanation of 56% (R² = 0.56). The study confirmed that socio-economic status affects language development (β = 0.29, p < 0.001) yet both cognitive and environmental stimulation variables mediated the relationship between these factors thereby reducing the impact of socio-economic factors on language development. The research helps expand current knowledge through quantitative evidence supporting cognitive and environmental factors while analyzing the combined learning environments of homes and schools and overcoming rigid views about SES's effect on language development. The analysis demonstrates why educational approaches that include student interactions matter together with early literacy initiatives and controlled linguistic and education programs during early childhood. Researchers emphasize the necessity of government programs that actively improve both intellectual and environmental stimulation in child education facilities. The study yields valuable findings yet future research must use longitudinal studies to track longer-term consequences between these factors and diverse dimensions of language development.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of vocabulary mastery on critical reading skills. The relationship between vocabulary mastery as a predictor and critical reading skills as a criterion was investigated in this study using correlational methodology. The research sample consisted of 30 fourth-semester students in the academic year 2024/2025 who were enrolled in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Makassar State University. Data collection was carried out using vocabulary mastery instruments and critical reading tests. The research data were analyzed using SPSS version 30 with descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results showed that vocabulary mastery had a significant influence on students' critical reading skills. The ability to interpret reading texts is strongly influenced by vocabulary understanding, which serves as a tool for readers to understand the meaning of words in improving the ability to analyze and infer reading texts. In addition, good vocabulary mastery supports readers in evaluating the text and understanding the implied meaning, which is essential in the critical reading process. The results of this study confirm the importance of vocabulary mastery in reading learning, especially in terms of improving critical reading skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis bentuk perlawanan tokoh utama dalam novel Karmila karya Marga Tjoa, dengan fokus pada perjuangan perempuan untuk memperjuangkan hak dan keadilan dalam kerangka feminisme eksistensialis Simon de Beauvoir. Melalui metode deskriptif kualitatif yang menggambarkan situasi objek berdasarkan fakta, kutipan-kutipan novel yang relevan dianalisis untuk memahami bagaimana pengarang mengekspresikan feminisme eksistensialis dalam sebuah karya sastra. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa Karmila memperjuangkan hak dan keadilan dengan menjadi perempuan yang bekerja, mengejar pendidikan dan meraih kesuksesan karier, serta menolak subordinasi dengan menentang peran-peran tradisional yang membatasi kebebasan perempuan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Karmila dalam novel tersebut merupakan contoh yang kuat dari perjuangan perempuan untuk mengambil kendali atas hidup mereka sendiri dengan menentang segala bentuk penindasan atau ketergantungan dengan pihak lain, sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip feminisme eksistensialis Simon de Beauvoir.

Abstract

Karya sastra merupakan keindahan kata-kata yang meliputi banyak aspek dalam kehidupan manusia. Selain sebagai karya yang menggambarkan cerita yang dapat dinikmati oleh pembacanya. Peneliti memilih novel lewat kertas: Kutitipkan rindu buat ayah karya Lina Ramdayani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku tokoh utama dalam novel lewat kertas Kutitipkan rindu buat ayah dan Konflik batin menggambarkan bagaimana perasaan dan pikiran dalam karakter yang dialami oleh dirinya sendiri. Fokus kajian penelitian ini adalah nilai moral. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif. Sumber data yang di dapatkan melalui Instrumen penelitian ini adalah peneliti itu sendiri yang didasari pada teori. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan membaca seluruh isi novel, mengamati dan mencatat informasi yang diperoleh. Hasil dari penelitian ini berbicara tentang aspek id, ego, superego tokoh utama Agri dalam novel terjadi konflik batin. Konflik internal dan eksternal memunculkan aspek-aspek kepribadian dalam diri tokoh. Dalam novel diceritakan Agri sosok pemuda yang rela menuliskan sepucuk surat yang ditipkan di kantong kursi terminal untuk menunggu sosok Ayahnya yang telah pergi bertahun-tahun hanya karena terlilit utang dan menikah dengan seorang perempuan bernama Desi. Agri tokoh utama harus melalui konflik-konflik dalam hidupnya dan berusaha untuk menyelesaikan semuanya. Aspek ego yang muncul pada dirinya adalah ketika dia berada pada pertimbangan antara mencari atau menunggu sosok Ayahnya, dia tidak ingin terus-terusan berbohong pada Kamil adiknya atas kedua orangtua mereka. Aspek superego muncul ketika dia memilih untuk mencari Ayahnya dan berusaha memperbaiki hubungan keluarganya, dorongan aspek id dan ego sehingga superego terpengaruh dan berpikir secara rasionalitas atas hubungan harmonis keluarganya.Kata kunci:  konflik batin, psikologi, sastra, kepribadian

Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing the novel Maut dan Cinta by Mochtar Lubis with a postcolonial approach. This research uses a qualitative description method, which is a research method that explains an event and the condition of the problems contained in the novel. This research uses data processing techniques carried out by reading and interpreting quotation data contained in the novel Maut dan Cinta using a postcolonial approach. Then the data obtained is collected and analyzed using postcolonial theory. The results of the analysis of the novel Maut dan Cinta illustrate the impact of colonialism on society, culture, and individuals as well as how the characters in the novel Maut dan Cinta react to fight colonial hegemony. Mochtar Lubis' Maut dan Cinta depicts how the struggle for independence affects the lives and relationships of the main characters. Conflict, violence, and loyalty to the ideals of nationalism become central themes.
