Abstract

This research aims to determine the water balance between water demand and availability at Pasar Baru Barrage. Pasar Baru Barage supply irrigation water for 22.441 ha. Irrigation water requirements related to temperature, evapotranspiration, and precipitation. Higher  air temperature in a region, influents the water requirement. This research was also conducted to see the effect of the rise in temperature of the water needs. The water requirement is calculated based on the needs of irrigation and domestic water to the raw water. For irrigation water needs calculated by planning a cropping pattern in one year in this study, it was planned to plant rice twice and once crop, evapotranspiration was calculated using the Penmann Modification method, so that water requirement in the intake area was obtained multiplying the area of irrigation. Calculation of water availability by using FJ Mock method, the maximum water availability value is 11.75 m3 / second. so that the water balance is obtained by the surplus deficit water balance method. After conducting this study, it can be seen that the air temperature in the cisadane weir of the new market is increasing from 1985 to 2018. The average temperature increases by 0.740C, the minimum air temperature increases by 0.80C and the maximum increases by 0.20C, the average evapotranspiration value decreases by 0.15 mm / day, while the average water availability decreases from the year 1985 to 2018 at 1.8 m3 / second, the amount of water needed for irrigation was 5.57 liters/ second/ha.  The calculation of the water balance in the river is based on a reliable discharge, the result is a deficit every year from 1985 to 2018. So there is a need for Pasar Baru weir to overcome the lack of irrigation water every year, based on discharge data available at Pasar Baru weir from 2013 to 2015, it can seen that the water balance has a surplus every year, the water balance deficit only occurred in July 2015 of 0.3 m3 / sec. The largest water balance occurred in March 2014 amounting to 656.97 m3 / sec. The results of this study can be used as a reference in planning and developing integrated water resources buildings especially in the Cisadane watershed and the Ciliwung-Cisadane river basin in general.

Abstract

According to a survey by Nova Chemicals, Indonesia is the second largest contributor to sea waste after China, which is 1.29 million metric tons / year. At present there are still many people in Indonesia who throw garbage in any place, and can caused flooding in the river. The river is polluted with a lot of waste, one of which is the Citarum River. Citarum River is a river that is very important for residents of West Java. The condition of the Citarum River which is very alarming is polluted by waste and garbage. In the world's leading survey site, the Citarum River occupies the 4th position for the dirtiest river problem. The rubbish that pollutes the Citarum River is more inorganic or unbiodegradable, for example plastic, bottles or beverage cups, plastic food wrapping, and so on. As we know plastic waste is very difficult to decompose, it takes more than 100 years to decompose the plastic decomposed or decompose completely. Plastic waste is one source of environmental pollution in Indonesia. The benefits of using plastic products must be balanced with the calculation of the negative impact produced. The nature of this plastic material makes it difficult to replace it with other materials for various applications, especially in everyday life ranging from food packaging, household appliances, children's toys, electronics to automotive components. Increased use of plastic materials has resulted in increased production of plastic waste from year to year. The destruction of plastic waste by burning will only worsen the health because of the anti-dioxy substance produced. The most appropriate method used in dealing with waste is to use the Ecobrick method. The team of Pancasila University wanted to socialize how to make an ecobrick, and how strong the compressive on the ecobrick material was made. To overcome waste, especially plastic along the Citarum river. This socialization was held in Tanjung Mekar Village, Karawang Barat sub-district, Karawang Regency. The participants coming from the community of environmentalists (Eco Village). Community of eviromentalists hope will provide direction and socialization to their about the ecobrick method to deal with plastic waste that cannot be recycled. From the results of testing carried out at the Pancasila University concrete laboratory using ecobrick materials is plastic bottles filled with pure plastic, filled with sand, and a mixture of plastic and sand compared to red brick and concrete brick sold in the market, from the compressive strength test results it is known that the material ecobrick which contains of sand shows the greatest compressive strength value is 41.2 Mpa, compared to red brick which is 27 Mpa and concrete brick is 38 Mpa ecobrick has a higher compressive strength than other materials.

Abstract

The increasing population from year to year has led to a rising demand for housing. Alongside this population growth, there has been a concurrent increase in waste production, particularly plastic waste discarded into the environment. In order to achieve SDG Goal 11, community engagement activities are being conducted. These activities occur within the Ecovillage Karawang community, a network dedicated to environmental preservation and plastic waste recycling. The methods employed include surveys, literature reviews, and the application of Ecobricks. Previously, community engagement activities involved providing tools for plastic shredding and Ecobrick production, but these were limited to residual plastic bottles and hard plastics. This community engagement project (PKM) aims to design and construct a 2.5m x 2.5m reading garden using Ecobricks as a building material. The aim of this PKM program is to provide multiple benefits through a single activity, specifically the application of Ecobricks as a construction material and the reduction of plastic waste through the reuse of ecobricks. This PKM project determined that 105 kg of plastic waste, including wrappers from candies, beverage sachets, plastic bags, and packaging, were used in constructing the reading garden. It, of course, contributes significantly to reducing plastic waste in the environment.

Abstract

Depok City is an area undergoing significant changes in land cover due to rapid urban development. Additionally, population growth is contributing to these land cover changes. These factors exert pressure on land use changes, with implications for land cover. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a spatial analysis of land cover changes in Depok City. This research employs Geographic Information System (GIS) methods and spatial analysis to examine land cover changes in Depok from 2017 to 2022. The objectives of this study are to identify the land cover conditions in Depok from 2017 to 2022 and analyze the changes in land cover during this period. The data source used is Landsat 8 satellite imagery. These satellite images were interpreted to produce land cover maps for the years 2017 and 2022. Subsequently, these two maps were overlaid to assess changes in land use. The research results revealed seven land cover classes in 2017, with the largest in terms of area being Residential/Built-up Areas (12,383.43 hectares), Green Open Spaces (3,479.66 hectares), Dryland Agriculture (2,218.65 hectares), Services/Industry (885.41 hectares), Paddy Fields (414.59 hectares), Open Land (373.66 hectares), and Water Bodies (239.23 hectares). Spatial analysis indicated a decrease in land cover for Green Open Spaces (238.84 hectares), Dryland Agriculture (122.67 hectares), and Paddy Fields (31.89 hectares). Conversely, an increase in land cover was observed for Residential/Built-up Areas (266.01 hectares), Services/Industry (91.84 hectares), and Open Land (35.55 hectares).

Abstract

Floods are one of the most prevalent disasters worldwide, including in the capital city of Indonesia. Multi-criteria decision analysis is combined with Geographic Information Systems to produce a mapping of flood hazard areas. The weighting for each parameter is based on six criteria: rainfall, slope gradient, topography, soil type, land cover, and distance from rivers. The flood hazard map is validated using inundation data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency for the years 2015 and 2020. From the general analysis, it can be determined that the parameter most influencing floods is rainfall with a weight of 0.270, followed by slope gradient at 0.164, topography at 0.124, soil type at 0.096, land cover at 0.190, and distance from rivers at 0.155. Therefore, through mapping using QGIS, it is revealed that in 2002, highly flood hazard areas comprised 20.99% of the total Ciliwung Watershed area, which increased to 24.31% in 2020. The validation of the flood hazard map was conducted by recording the coordinate points of flood incidents in 2015 and 2020, revealing that the affected areas within the Ciliwung Watershed occurred in high to very high vulnerability zones. This research demonstrates that flood events in the study area occurred in high to very high flood hazard zones. The results of this study are considered valuable and important for providing accurate information to local governments to develop cost-effective and efficient strategies in dealing with potential flood hazards.

Abstract

Water resources are crucial for life and the economy, especially in the Cimanuk River Basin, where irrigation supports agricultural productivity. Population and economic growth have led to significant changes in land use that impact irrigation systems. The shift from agricultural to non-agricultural land, along with factors such as urbanization, flooding, drought, and pests, has reduced the area of farmland and decreased rice productivity in West Java. This study aims to analyze changes in land use and their effects on the irrigation system in the Cimanuk River Basin. The research methods include analyzing combined data such as remote sensing, statistical tests, evapotranspiration calculations, and irrigation water needs to assess the water balance of irrigation based on water availability and demand. The findings reveal a significant decrease in agricultural land coverage, from 37.48% of the total area of the Cimanuk River Basin in 2000 to 22.79% in 2023. This change in land cover affects irrigation needs and impacts the water balance in the Cimanuk River Basin, resulting in a water deficit between availability and irrigation needs. The water deficit occurs during peak dry months, such as July, with a maximum deficit of 215.72 m³/second, indicating that the water requirements for irrigation are often not met optimally.
