Abstract

This study aims to develop an Interdisciplinary Hypothetical Inquiry (IHI) learning model that is (1) feasible and practical, and (2) determine the effectiveness of this model in improving undergraduate students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) and computational thinking skills (CTS) in solving social problems in social science (IPS) education study programs. This research uses a design and development research approach which includes six stages: (1) problem identification, (2) goal description, (3) product design and development, (4) product testing, (5) evaluation of test results, and (6) communication of results. The development of the IHI learning model was tested through (1) feasibility tests by expert lecturers in the field of education, evaluation experts, and social science experts; (2) practicality test through observation of learning implementation and responses from lecturers and student users; and (3) effectiveness test using a quasi-experimental method with a sample of undergraduate students in Social Sciences Education, Yogyakarta State University. The research instruments include expert lecturer review and assessment sheets, HOT and CT test questions, observation sheets on the implementation of the IHI model, and user response questionnaires. The research results show that the IHI learning model (1) is feasible based on the assessment of expert lecturers; (2) practical with an implementation score of 4.54 (very practical), a lecturer response score of 3.9 (very practical), and a student response score of 4.5 (very practical); and (3) potentially effective based on the higher N-Gain HOTS and CTS values in the experimental class (0.63 and 0.56) compared to the control class (0.59 and 0.15), as well as the t-test results with significance value 0.00 (p < 0.05). The student-centered IHI learning model encourages collaboration and democratic learning through the stages: 1) problem orientation, (2) hypothesis brainstorming, (3) hypothesis development, (4) investigation design, (5) investigation data collection, (6) interpretation of investigation data, (7) reporting and communication of results. This research concludes that the IHI learning model is feasible, practical, and effective for increasing HOTS and CTS for students in the social studies education study program.

Abstract

Abstract

This research examines the social construction process of Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage and its contribution to character formation at SMAN 4 Makassar, responding to the duality this technology presents in education: its potential for personalized learning versus its risk to human interaction. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this study dissects the essence of the subjective experiences of teachers, students, and stakeholders. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies, with the credibility of the findings ensured through source and method triangulation. The collected data were analyzed phenomenologically and interpreted using the theoretical framework of social construction by Berger and Luckmann. The primary findings indicate that AI implementation is not merely a technical adoption but a complete social process that unfolds through three dialectical stages: externalization, where ideas are manifested through policies and infrastructure; objectivation, when AI is institutionalized into routine practices and concrete social structures; and internalization, where students accept AI as part of their subjective consciousness and academic identity. Furthermore, this research reveals the dual role of AI, not only as a learning instrument but also as an effective mediator in character formation that instills values of responsibility, integrity, and discipline. The main contribution of this study is a deep understanding of how technology integrates into the school's social system, while also highlighting that the success of this process fundamentally depends on the crucial role of teachers as facilitators who align technological potential with humanistic values.

Abstract

Background: Community empowerment plays an important role in driving sustainable development, especially in rural areas. The Bejiharjo Farmer Women Group (KWT) is an example of community-based empowerment initiatives that have succeeded in developing social entrepreneurship. Through women's active participation, capacity building, and utilization of local resources, this KWT has been able to generate significant economic and social impacts for its communities. Research Urgency: It is important to understand the empowerment pattern that KWT Bejiharjo applies in building sustainable social enterprises, in order to replicate similar models in other villages. Identification of key success factors can make a major contribution to the development of local potential-based women's and community empowerment programs. Research Objectives: This study aims to explore the patterns of community empowerment implemented by the Bejiharjo Women Farmers Group (KWT) and identify the key elements that drive the success and sustainability of community-based social entrepreneurship. Research Method: A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, documentation, and focus group discussions. Thematic and narrative analyses were conducted to identify key empowerment patterns, with data triangulation ensuring validity and reliability. Research Findings: The results of the study show that the empowerment carried out by KWT Bejiharjo has succeeded in increasing members' ownership and sense of responsibility for group activities, along with the growth of collective commitment and social bonds. In addition, intensive training from various partners also improves members' skills and knowledge in the fields of production, marketing, and business management. This effort is supported by the utilization and diversification of local resources, which not only strengthens the household economy, but also creates added value through processed products and expands the potential of educational agrotourism in the local area. Research Conclusion: The empowerment model applied by KWT Bejiharjo has succeeded in creating a sustainable social entrepreneurship ecosystem. Shared ownership, capacity building, and utilization of local potential are the main foundations in building economic and social independence at the community level Research Novelty/ Contibution: This research contributes to the development of a community-based empowerment model that is oriented towards social entrepreneurship. The findings in this study can serve as a reference for the development of sustainable empowerment strategies in other rural communities with a participatory and local potential-based approach.
