Abstract

This research is entitled Linguistic Defamiliarization in the text of Ahmad Tohari’s Trilogy. One of problems discussed is the form of linguistic defamiliarization in the text of Ahmad Tohari’s novels united in a trilogy. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of linguistic defamiliarization in the text. Theoretically, this research contributes (1) to adding a new insight about the writing Ahmad Tohari’s rhetorical style and (2) to the preparation or writing of the history of Indonesian literary theory. Meanwhile, among the practical benefits that can be obtained is the appreciation of interesting language and literature learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study employing an analytical approach and hermeneutic technique. It was carried out in such a way because it was difficult to avoid using an eclectic method to analyze a novel. The use of integrated the methods was expected to get maximum results. The data in this study were linguistic data in the form of sentence fragments contained in the text of the novels in the trilogy, namely Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, Lintang Kemukus Dini Hari, and Jentera Bianglala. The data were in the form of chunks of the characters’ speech and the author’s narration in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences and discourse that allegedly contained forms of defamiliarization. The data collection technique employed in this study was the documentary technique and first level of semiotic reading technique. The data collection technique used in this study can be described as follows, (1) reading the text of the trilogy employing the first level of semiotic reading technique, i.e. the heuristic reading. This reading technique was based on a linguistic convention; (2) keeping records of data coded according to the characteristics on the data cards; (3) classifying the data according to the types of problems, namely the forms defamiliarization at word, phrase, clause, sentence, and discourse levels. On the data analysis stage, a second level of reading technique was applied, that is the hermeneutic technique, to provide the overall meanings of the text. The results of this study show that the form of text defamiliarization in  Ahmad Tohari’s trilogy are in all linguistic levels, i.e. word, phrase, clause, sentence and discourse ones. At the word level, the defamiliarization is in the form of connotative meaning utilization, exploiting the Javanese words, the use of foreign terms, the use of expletives, and the utilization of compositum. Meanwhile, at the phrase level it shows the use of endocentric attributive phrases, endocentric connective phrases, verbal phrases, noun phrases, and prepositional phrases. An the clause level it shows the use of verbal clauses, adjectival clauses, and nominal clauses. The sentences found in the text are in the form of simple sentences and compound/complex sentences with varied structural patterns, both compound and complex sentences.

Abstract

Media massa merupakan alat yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan informasi, pikiran, dan gagasan kepada khalayak secara luas. Informasi yang disampaikan dalam media massa ini dapat beragam. Analisis wacana kritis sendiri memungkinkan adanya temuan tentang ideologi yang terdapat dalam suatu media massa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui analisis wacana kritis dari pemberitaan pembatalan kenaikan Uang Kuliah Tunggal yang dipublikasikan media daring detik.com dan tempo.co. Metode kualitatif dengan sudut pandang paradigma kritis digunakan sebagai dasar berpikir dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini sendiri menggunakan teori tiga model dimensi dari Norman Fairclough, yaitu dimensi mikrostruktural, mesostruktural, dan makrostruktural. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua media massa tersebut menampilkan citra positif pada menteri pendidikan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) untuk mendeskripsikan kebutuhan media pembelajaran mengembangkan isi cerita rakyat dengan media video berbasis budaya nusantara untuk peserta didik SMK di Pati (2) untuk mewujudkan rancangan media pembelajaran mengembangkan isi cerita rakyat dengan video berbasisi budaya nusantara untuk peserta didik SMK di Pati. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Research and Development (R&D). dengan langkah (1) analisis kebutuhan siswa dan guru, (2) penyusunan draf prototipe produk media video pembelajaran dan buku pendamping media, (3) validasi pakar, (5) uji produk pada kelas kecil, (6) analisis FGD media video pembelajaran dan buku pendamping media, dan (7) prototipe pengembangan media video cerita rakyat Pati. Teknik untuk mengumpulkan data proses pengembangan menggunakan teknik wawancara dan teknik angket. Sedangkan untuk teknik pengumpulan data kualitas media penelitian, menggunakan teknik validasi media video cerita rakyat dan buku pendamping media oleh validator ahli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Guru dari dua sekolah sangat butuh media pengembangan video cerita rakyat berbasis budaya nusantara untuk SMK di Pati. Siswa sebanyak 41,9 % menyatakan sangat butuh buku pendamping media untuk pembelajaran mengembangkan cerita rakyat Pati dan sebanyak 45,1 % siswa menyatakan butuh media video cerita rakyat Pati untuk SMK di Pati.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a research that describes the use of video media in learning the values of hikayat texts to class X students at SMK Negeri 7 Semarang. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of video media, find out the learning steps, and assess the learning outcomes of students in learning the values of hikayat texts. This research uses a mixed approach that involves quantitative and qualitative data collection. Data collection was conducted using test and non-test techniques (observation and documentation). Data analysis techniques used triangulation techniques by testing the validity of the data collected by researchers to obtain data and enrich the insights of research informants. Overall, students succeeded in achieving the Criteria for Achieving Learning Objectives (KKTP) with a range of scores between 78-100% and the average percentage value was 86%. The results showed that the use of video media in learning to analyze the values of hikayat texts at SMK Negeri 7 Semarang had a positive impact and was successfully applied to the learning of saga texts to class X students at SMK N 7 Semarang.

Abstract

Navigating Human Essence: Interpretive Landscapes in Contemporary Indonesian Short Fiction. This research delves into the intricate tapestry of human experiences embedded within seven contemporary Indonesian short stories, exploring how narrative architectures reveal nuanced sociocultural dynamics. Utilizing an innovative qualitative hermeneutic methodology, the study deconstructs literary representations of human interactions beyond conventional narrative frameworks. The investigation unveils multilayered expressions of existential struggles, highlighting how literary texts function as critical social dialogues. By examining character trajectories, relational complexities, and embedded cultural narratives, the research illuminates subtle mechanisms of human resilience, empathy, and transformative potential. Findings suggest that literary texts serve as profound anthropological documents, capturing the intricate negotiations of identity, moral consciousness, and social adaptation in rapidly changing Indonesian societal contexts.

Abstract

Audio-visual media can be an effective and influential learning medium to improve students' speaking and critical thinking skills.  This study aims to measure the validity and effectiveness of audio-visual media through storytelling on speaking and critical thinking skills in grade 6 students. The research was conducted at SDN Kalibanteng Kulon 02 with a total of 56 students consisting of 28 students for the control class and 28 students for the experimental class. The method used is mixed method through a sequential explanatory design. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. Before conducting data analysis, validity and reliability tests were carried out to determine the level of validity and reliability of the instruments used as a measuring tool to collect data. Quantitative data analysis uses hypothesis tests, namely t-test, N-Gain test, t-test ( independent ) through SPSS. Qualitative data analysis uses narrative descriptive from observations, interviews, and questionnaires. The results showed that learning using audio-visual media in the context of storytelling in the Experiment class showed a significant increase in N Gain in speaking skill indicators (Y1), such as Speaking Fluency (AKB) (0.43), Clarity (AK) (0.34), and Confidence (KD) (0.47), showing that learning with audio-video media contributes greatly to improving students' speaking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the representation of resistance in Leila S. Chudori's novel Pulang using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach. The focus of the study is on how the narrative and discursive practices in the novel represent resistance to state hegemony, particularly in the context of the political and cultural identity of the Indonesian diaspora community after the events of 1965. Data was obtained through the identification of relevant quotations and analyzed based on Fairclough's three dimensions of CDA: text, discursive practices, and social practices. The results of the study show that resistance in Pulang is manifested not through physical action, but through symbolic narratives, discourse criticism, and claims to alternative histories. The characters in the novel reconstruct their identities through personal recognition, cultural heritage, and efforts to preserve collective memory outside the official state narrative. The allegory of Ekalaya's story reflects a form of symbolic resistance to authority; the critical questions of the younger generation reflect the desacralization of the state's narrative; and spaces such as the Tanah Air Restaurant function as sites of cultural resistance that construct counter-memories and identities. Overall, Pulang represents a transformative discourse that challenges dominant power and opens space for individual and collective agency in shaping history and identity. This research contributes to expanding understanding of literature as a medium of discursive resistance, and highlights the role of language and narrative in articulating diaspora identity and historical trauma in critical and transformative ways.

Abstract

This article analyses Sabrina Lasama's short story Rumus Hidup Bahagia (The Formula for a Happy Life) using Sara Mills' critical discourse approach to reveal representations of women in social, cultural, and gender relations contexts. It focuses on how women are treated, viewed by men, and constructed in the narrative. The analysis shows that the main character, Anti, faces social pressure to follow the conventional formula for happiness: marry, have children, and become the wife of a well-established man. Anti is also a victim of sexual violence that is not believed, a sexual object, and a status symbol. Although they appear to be the subjects of the narrative, the women in this story are actually objects of the patriarchal social system. Anti shows resistance through manipulative actions that blur the line between obedience and resistance. This article suggests that the representation of women in literature reflects unequal power relations and can be a critique of patriarchal ideology.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata novel Laskar Pelangi merupakan salah satu novel yang layak diajarkan kepada peserta didik. Novel Laskar Pelangi layak diajarkan karena di dalam novel tersebut banyak terkandung nilai-nilai pendidikan terutama pendidikan karakter. Bahasa yang digunakan dalam novel tersebut juga mudah dipahami bagi pembaca terutama siswa. Rumusan masalah penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata sebagai muatan materi ajar novel di kelas XII SMA?. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata sebagai muatan materi ajar novel di kelas XII SMA. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Data yang ada pada novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata berupa teks yang mengandung nilai pendidikan karakter Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata yang diterbitkan Oleh Bentang Pustaka tahun 2005.Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teknik baca dan catat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dengan cara mendeskripsikan secara sistematis kenyataan-kenyataan atau fakta dari sifat-sifat suatu data faktual dan teliti. Dari analisis akhir yang dilakukan, ditemukan sebanyak lima yang terdapat dalam novel laskar Pelangi antara lain nilai religius, jujur, toleransi, disiplin, kerja keras, kreatif, mandiri, demokrasi, rasa ingin tahu, bersahabat atau komunikatif, cinta tanah air, menghargai prestasi, peduli lingkungan, peduli sosial dan tanggung jawab. Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat dijadikan sebagai muatan materi ajar novel yang didasari pada TP (Tujuan Pembelajaran) 12.6; peserta didik merefleksi asumsi atau ideologi nilai yang terkandung dari teks novel (Kurikulum Merdeka, Kemendikbudristek 2021). Adapun saran yang dapat penulis sampaikan yaitu penelitian ini diharapkan mampu menjadi referensi bagi peneliti lain yang berkaitan dengan analisis nilai pendidikan karakter dalam novel Laskar Pelangi karya Andrea Hirata sebagai muatan materi ajar novel di kelas Xll SMA.
