Abstract

Critical thinking skills are skills that must be had by science teachers in the current 4.0 industrial revolution era. Indicators of critical thinking skills that must be possessed include trigger events, namely identifying problems, exploring thinking about personal and social ideas in order to make a decision preparation, integration that is constructing the intent/meaning of an idea, and integrating relevant information that has been set at the exploration stage, and Resolution is implementing and testing a solution. This research was conducted to determine the critical thinking skills of physics education students in solving problems in lectures on thermodynamics. The research sample were 30 physics education students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Palangka Raya who programmed the Thermodynamics Course and taken randomly. Evaluation of critical thinking skills consists of 8 questions that ask students to complete in a structured manner. The results showed that by applying the critical thinking skills evaluation instrument students had: 55% trigger event skills with low criteria, 45% exploration skills with very low criteria, 35% integration skills with very low criteria and 30% resolution skills with very low criteria. The results of this study are the basis for recommending the need for a learning model or approach that can be implemented in thermodynamic lectures to improve the critical thinking skills of trigger events, exploration, integration, and resolution of physics education students.

Abstract

The 21st century physics educators are expected to have 21st century skills, one of which is having life and career skills. One of the life skills assets is professional entrepreneurship. This study aimed to 1) determine the profile of students' critical thinking skills in innovating problem-solving during physics entrepreneurship course and 2) determine students’ responses about critical thinking skills in innovating problem solving.  This research conducted using preliminary research methods with data collection techniques in the form of description test instrument that filled out by students, and student questionnaires instrument. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively qualitatively.  The study was conducted on 30 students of department of physics education at a university in the city of Palangkaraya.  The results showed that all aspects of critical thinking skills (Facione's version) that were measured, namely the ability to interpret, analyze, evaluate, inference, explain, and self-regulation were on average in the low category (56.9%).   Students gave agreed (A) to very agreed (VA) responses to the implementation of learning that applied critical thinking skills in innovating to solve problems. These results can be concluded that the students have very limited critical thinking skills in solving entrepreneurial problems, so that efforts are needed to improve students' critical thinking skills in solving entrepreneurial problems, one of which is by developing a learning model that can be applied to physics entrepreneurship course which hopefully can improve critical thinking skills of physics education students.

Abstract

SD Santa Maria di Palangka Raya dikenal sebagai sekolah dengan sejumlah prestasi membanggakan serta memiliki pelayanan pendidikan yang baik. Pada tahun 2018 SD Santa Maria Palangka Raya meraih penghargaan sekolah Adiwiyata Nasional dan saat ini sedang dalam persiapan mengikuti Adiwiyata mandiri. Seriring meningkatnya kepedulian terhadap lingkungan, termasuk di sekolah, penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui impmentasi program Adiwiyata di SD Santa Maria beserta faktor pendukung dan penghambatnya. Hasil penelitian diharapkan menjadi bahan refleksi bagi sekolah lainnya dalam melaksanakan program serupa dan menjadi masukan untuk meningkatkan kinerja SD Santa Maria. Penelitian bersifat deskriptif kualitatatif dan melibatkan 10 orang responden kunci dari internal sekolah. Implementasi program adiwiyata mengacu pada empat komponen yaitu pengembangan kebijakan sekolah berwawasan lingkungan, implementasi kurikulum berwawasan lingkungan, kegiatan lingkungan berbasis partisipatif, dan sarana pendukung ramah lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa SD Santa Maria telah membuat program-program yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan lingkungan sekolah yang bersih dan berbudaya lingkungan, yaitu perumusan visi dan misi berbudaya lingkungan, implementasi kurikulum berwawasan lingkungan, program pengelolaan sampah, Jum’at bersih, penghematan penggunaan listrik, air, dan ATK, serta pengelolaan layanan kantin sekolah. Faktor pendukung yang dominan yaitu, pertama, kerjasama yang baik antara sekolah dengan orang tua/wali siswa, dan masyarakat. Kedua, lingkungan sekolah yang memungkinkan untuk dijadikan ruang terbuka hijau karena memiliki areal luas dan sarana prasana yang mendukung. Faktor penghambat yaitu alokasi dana yang dibatasi pada anggaran sekolah (RKAS), dan kurangnya personil dalam perawatan sarana prasarana.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis model discovery learning dalam proses pembelajaran fisika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode meta-analisis dengan sampel 9 hasil penelitian atau skripsi mahasiswa pendidikan fisika Universitas Palangka Raya. Hasil dari penelitian meta-analisis ini adalah model pembelajaran discovery dapat meningkatlkan hasil belajar siswa. Materi yang digunakan menggunakan model pembelajaran discovery adalah materi yang membutuhkan eksperimen dalam proses penemuan konsep nya seperti suhu dan kalor. Model pembelajaran discovery selain dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, dalam penerapannya juga dapat diukur keterampilan siswa seperti Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS) yang dilakukan pada saat melaksanakan eksperimen.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the critical thinking skills and enthusiasm of prospective physics educator students in learning virtual-based thermodynamics courses. This type of research is a survey research that begins with the development of research instruments using a 4-D development model according to Thiagarajan consisting of 4 stages, namely: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects were 20 students of the physics education study program at the University of Palangka Raya in the Thermodynamics class. Collecting data using validation methods, evaluation techniques and student enthusiasmquestionnaires. Quantitative data were obtained from the results of critical thinking skills assessment and student enthusiasm questionnaires in the virtual-based thermodynamics learning process given at the end of the lesson. The data analysis technique used quantitative and qualitative descriptive inferential statistical test analysis. The results obtained are the test instrument for critical thinking skills learning outcomes and student enthusiasm questionnaire instruments in virtual-based thermodynamic learning that have been developed are included in the valid criteria, with Cronbach's Alpha reliability () 0.712 < 0.899 which is included in the high reliability criteria; 1) students' critical thinking skills are 87% with an average N-gain of 0.86 critical thinking skills which is in the high criteria; 2) student enthusiasm on average 91.7% students feel enthusiastic about thermodynamics learning that is carried out virtually, which can be seen from the aspect of student's intention to take part in learning by 95%, aspect of goal 90%, aspect of self-potential by 90% and positive thinking aspect by 91.7%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of online learning in science subjects during the COVID-19 pandemic based on the responses of teachers and students from four Junior High Schools (SMP) in the city of Palangka Raya. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data collection techniques in this study used a questionnaire. The questionnaire was filled out online in the form of a Google Form which was distributed to the respondents. Respondents in this study were students from four junior high schools (SMP) in the city of Palangka Raya, amounting to 80 people. This study showed that there were 48.75% of students who stated that they wanted learning to be carried out face-to-face, but 63.75% of students felt happy with online learning, and 42.5% of students stated that they were quite serious in participating in the online learning process. In addition, student learning outcomes with online learning obtained as many as 77.5% of students who scored above 75, so it can be said that online learning is quite effective.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of post-pandemic face-to-face learning on science subjects in the new normal era based on learning outcomes and student attendance from four Junior High Schools (SMP) in the city of Palangka Raya. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a survey method. Quantitative research is research where the researcher is placed as a key instrument, data collection techniques are combined and data analysis is inductive. This research was conducted in four stages, namely: 1) research preparation stage, 2) research implementation stage, 3) data analysis stage, and 4) conclusion drawing stage. This study shows that post-pandemic face-to-face learning is effective. This is based on the percentage of student attendance which shows the level of student enthusiasm in participating in face-to-face learning after the pandemic is quite high with a percentage value of 80% to 100%. In addition, student learning outcomes also increased from before the implementation of face-to-face learning (online learning) and after the implementation of face-to-face learning after the pandemic, from an average value of 78.76 increased to 80.91 after the implementation of face-to-face learning. In addition, the percentage of students who scored above the KKM score (75) also increased from 77.5% to 86.25%.

Abstract

Research aims to find the effect of project-based Learning and scientific literacy skills on students' critical thinking skills 20 students in virtual learning of the Thermodynamics class at the Physics Education Study Program. The research design used the three-variable regression technique, which consists of two independent variables, namely project-based Learning (X1), the scientific literacy ability  (X2), and the dependent variable, namely critical thinking skills (Y). Data collection techniques include observation sheets, questionnaires with a Likert scale, and evaluation of critical thinking skills. The results of the data analysis show that there is no partial effect of project-based learning on students' critical thinking skills, and the scientific literacy ability variable partially affects the critical thinking skills variable. Project-based Learning and scientific literacy skills significantly affect critical thinking skills. This research implies that there is evidence that Thermodynamics learning is not enough to apply project-based learning but must be equipped with literacy learning because, with a combination of these two things, students' critical thinking skills can increase significantly.

Abstract

Metode eksperimen dalam penelitian ini melatih dan mengajarkan siswa untuk belajar konsep IPA, siswa belajar secara aktif dengan mengikuti tahap-tahap pembelajarannya (1) percobaan awal, (2) pengamatan, (3) hipotesis awal, (4) verifikasi (5) aplikasi konsep dan (6) evaluasi. Dengan demikian, siswa akan menemukan sendiri konsep sesuai dengan hasil yang diperoleh selama pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui (1) aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran dengan penerapan metode eksperimen pada materi zat dan karakteristiknya, (2) hasil belajar siswa setelah penerapan metode eksperimen pada materi zat dan karakteristiknya dan (3) respon siswa setelah penerapan metode eksperimen pada materi zat dan karakteristiknya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Pre-Experimental menggunakan desain One shot case study. Sampel adalah kelas VII-C dengan jumlah 23 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah aktivitas siswa, soal tes hasil belajar (THB) kognitif dan angket respon siswa. Hasil aktivitas siswa menunjukkan berbagai kegiatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran yang nilai berbeda-beda ditiap pertemuan. Hasil belajar ranah kognitif dari 21 siswa yang mengikuti tes hasil belajar kognitif diperoleh 14 siswa tuntas dan 7 siswa tidak tuntas. Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen dari 21 siswa yang menyatakan pembelajaran menyenangkan sebanyak 20 siswa (95.24%) dan yang menyatakan media yang digunakan dapat membantu memahami materi 21 siswa (100%).

Abstract

Physics subjects are one of the subjects that can develop analytical, critical, inductive and deductive abilities in solving problems through scientific activities. However, several research results show that physics is a subject that is less popular because most students consider physics to be abstract, difficult to understand, and not related to life, which has an impact on students' low understanding of physics. This research aims to describe student responses to research-based learning on fluid flow material. The participants were students in the second year of the Physics Education Study Program, FKIP, Palangka Raya University, consisting of 20 people taking the Thermodynamics lecture. The instrument used is a questionnaire response to a concept understanding test. The research results showed that students responded positively to the research-based learning they had participated in. Based on this research, research-based learning activities can be considered as an alternative for carrying out meaningful learning activities, especially in physics learning.
