Abstract

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous gas that is commonly found in urban areas. Carbon monoxide levels in the air are influenced by many factors, including the number of motorized vehicles, climatic factors, geography, and activities that burn fuel containing carbon. This research aims to determine the relationship between the number of motorized vehicles and CO levels in the air on Jalan Front Pasar Bandar Buat, Padang City in 2023. This research is a correlational study with a cross-sectional approach carried out in August 2023. The dependent variable of this research is the measured CO levels in the air. every hour for 8 hours, while the independent variable is the number of motorized vehicles passing the road in front of Pasar Bandar Buat, Padang City. Analyze the results to see the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable using correlation analysis. The average number of motorized vehicles passing on the road in front of Bandar Buat Market on weekdays is 3,384 vehicles/hour, while on holidays it is 4,080 vehicles/hour. The climatic factor conditions during the research were within the normal range for Padang City. Carbon monoxide levels on the road in front of Bandar Buat Market on holidays are higher, namely 3,136 µg/Nm3 and on weekdays 2,554 µg/Nm3. The results of the analysis show that Carbon Monoxide levels are positively correlated with the number of motorized vehicles with a value of r = 0.9. This research recommends increasing the quantity and quality of public transportation, to reduce the use of private vehicles in society  Keyword: Air Pollution; Carbon Monoxide; Motorized Vehicles

Abstract

The dense volume of traffic on the Pitameh Tanjung Saba highway has the potential to increase air pollution. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk of respiratory tract disorders for traders due to exposure to total suspended particulate dust in ambient air on Highway Pitameh Tanjung Saba, Lubuk Begalung District, Padang City in 2023. This type of research uses a descriptive analytic design with an environmental health risk analysis approach. Which was carried out from January to May 2023. The sample for this study was dust measuring ≤100 µm taken at 3 measurement points and a sample of 43 traders. The research data were obtained by measuring dust levels and interviews using a questionnaire. The results of the study stated that the TSP dust content at point 1 which was located at the Indarung by-pass traffic light intersection was 242.42 µg/m3, at point 2 which was located in front of the Muhammadiyah Great Mosque of 211.44 µg/m3 and at point 3 which was located at Intersection Pitameh of 232.39 µg/m3 . Based on the calculation of the TSP exposure risk analysis performed, it can be seen that as many as 8 respondents to real time exposure and 1 respondent to life time exposure with an exposure duration of 30 years had a risk characterization value of > 1 and as many as 74.4% experienced symptoms of respiratory tract disorders while trading in Highway Pitameh Tanjung Saba, Lubuk Begalung District, Padang City.

Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi informasi saat ini menuntut semua perguruan tinggi untuk selalu mengikuti perkembangan zaman khususnya dibidang pendidikan.Mengacu pada undang-undang Tahun 2012 mengenai pembelajaran maka BPPSDM dibawah Kementerian Kesehatan mengembangkan VILEP mulai tahun 2016. VILEP adalah media pembelajaran teknologi informasi yang digunakan dalam perkuliahan di Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang. Berdasarkan data pelaksanaan VILEP (Virtual Learning Poltekkes Kemenkes) semester ganjil 2020/2021 untuk Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang belum maksimal dilaksanakan oleh dosen walaupun sudah dilakukan pelatihan VILEP. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan minat dengan keaktifan dosen dalam penggunaan VILEP sebagai media pembelajaran di Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectional. Pengukuran kedua variabel minat dan keaktifan dilakukan dalam waktu yang bersamaan dengan tujuan menilai ada tidaknya hubungan antar kedua variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan untuk variabel minat, 57,5% dosen tidak berminat dalam menggunakan VILEP. Untuk keaktifan, 52,5% dosen aktif menggunakan VILEP. Hubungan Minat Dengan Keaktifan Dosen Dalam Penggunaan VILEP Sebagai Media Pembelajaran di Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang diperoleh nilai ρ=0,313 (p>0,05) maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ha ditolak dan H0 diterima artinya tidak terdapat hubungan antara minat dengan keaktifan dosen dalam penggunaan VILEP sebagai media pembelajaran di Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang Tahun 2021.

Abstract

Layanan Kesehatan Lingkungan di Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat merupakan layanan yang harus dilaksanakan oleh setiap puskesmas yang diatur dalam Permenkes No. 13 tahun 2015. Dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun setelah ditetapkan, implementasi dari layanan ini belum terlaksana sebagaimana mestinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi problematik pelaksanaan pelayanan kesehatan lingkungan di puskesmas di Sumatera Barat, khususnya implementasi Permenkes No. 13 Tahun 2015. Metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus diterapkan melalui Fokus Grup Diskusi (FGD), observasi lapangan, dan analisis dokumen di sejumlah puskesmas di Kota Padang Panjang dan Kota Pariaman. Hasil penelitian mengungkap empat tema utama: (1) keterbatasan sumber daya manusia (SDM) tenaga sanitasi lingkungan (TSL) yang tidak proporsional dengan beban kerja, (2) minimnya ketersediaan dan pemeliharaan peralatan penunjang seperti alat inspeksi tidak terkalibrasi, (3) rendahnya frekuensi pelatihan teknis bagi TSL, serta (4) ketidakcukupan anggaran operasional yang menghambat kegiatan inspeksi, konseling, dan intervensi kesehatan lingkungan. Selain itu, koordinasi lintas layanan yang lemah, termasuk kurangnya pemahaman petugas poliklinik tentang pentingnya rujukan pasien Penyakit Berbasis Lingkungan (PBL) menjadi faktor yang menyebabkan kurangnya kualitas layanan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi Permenkes No. 13/2015 belum optimal akibat hambatan struktural dan operasional. Penelitian merekomendasikan peningkatan alokasi SDM TSL, pengadaan peralatan sesuai standar, pelatihan berkala berbasis kompetensi, serta penguatan anggaran khusus untuk program kesehatan lingkungan. Di sisi kelembagaan, diperlukan integrasi sistem rujukan PBL dan sinergi lintas sektor melalui koordinasi terstruktur antara puskesmas, dinas kesehatan, dan pemangku kebijakan daerah. Langkah strategis ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat kapasitas puskesmas dalam pencegahan PBL, optimalisasi pelayanan kesehatan lingkungan, dan peningkatan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat berbasis pendekatan holistik.

Abstract

Forest fires cause a decline in the level of public health, either directly or indirectly. One of the public health services that requires good collaboration is health services at the Puskesmas. health workers on duty at the Puskesmas in dealing with disasters in their respective work areas. The collaboration target is integrated patient care for disaster victims. This study aims to determine the understanding of health workers in collaborative risk management for haze disaster in West Sumatra.The design at this stage is cross sectional to identify the characteristics of the respondents (age, gender, type of profession, education), knowledge, attitudes, and collaborative actions to reduce haze disaster risk at the same time. The target population of this research is all health workers in several districts in West Sumatra Province. The affordable population of the study is health workers in areas categorized as vulnerable to haze in the province of West Sumatra. The sample determined in the survey phase of the research using the Lamesshow formula (Lemeshow et al., 1990). Based on the above formula, the total sample size is 50 samples, with an anticipated sample drop out of 10%, so the total number of samples is 55 samples. Collecting data using primary data by means of interviews with a questionnaire instrument. The statistical test used in this study is the chi square test, which is a statistical test used to test the relationship between the independent variable (independent) and the dependent variable (dependent) on a categorical scale.The results of the quantitative research show that more than half of the knowledge level (60%) and positive attitude (51%) about collaboration in disaster risk management of haze haze are seen. And the actions or practices of more than half of the respondents or health workers have less action (64%) regarding collaboration for disaster risk management of haze. There is a relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of health workers with collaborative actions to mitigate the risk of haze disaster. Government involvement is needed to issue a collaborative policy for managing the risk of haze disaster to change the centralistic/spatial paradigm in disaster management. Health workers can improve their understanding of communication and motivation in collaborative disaster risk management for haze.

Abstract

Environmental risks have an influence on the incidence of stunting in toddlers caused by chronic malnutrition and repeated infections, especially in the First 1000 Days of Life (1000 HPK). One of the highest stunting contributing areas in Solok Regency is Payung Sekaki District in the Sirukam Health Center working area, there are 112 cases of stunting toddlers spread across 3 villages, namely Nagari Sirukam, Nagari Supayang and Nagari Aie Luo. The purpose of this study was to determine the spatial distribution of environmental risk factors in stunting toddlers in Payung Sekaki District, Solok Regency in 2023. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive analysis method. The number of samples was 73 houses. Data analysis was carried out univariately and spatially using Microsoft Excel software and overlay on QGIS. This research produces information in the form of spatial distribution maps with low, medium and high classifications. With this research, it is known that Jorong Gantiang is the jorong with the highest incidence of stunting with 14 cases, Jorong Lubuak Pulai with 12 cases, and 3 jorong with moderate cases and 6 other jorong with low stunting cases. The high incidence of stunting in Payung Sekaki Sub-district is influenced by several environmental risk factors, namely the physical condition of the house, the provision of clean water, the management of waste water and feces, and having a history of recurrent infectious diseases such as diarrhea and ARI.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease which is currently causing complex problems both globally and nationally, because apart from the high morbidity and mortality rates. The main problem for DM sufferers is non-compliance in implementing a healthy lifestyle for DM sufferers, which has an impact on their quality of life due to complications. Efforts that can be made are to improve self-management with health education. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of mentoring activities in improving the quality of self-management of DM sufferers. This research uses quantitative methods, with a quasi-experimental design, one group pre-test and post-test approach. The target activity is 64 people suffering from diabetes mellitus in Gunung Talang District, Solok Regency for more than 3 months, namely 27 May - 30 September 2022. The stages of data processing are editing, coding, transfer and tabulation. Data were analyzed bivariately using paired t-test with a confidence level of 95% (α=0.05). Data is presented in the form of tables and narratives. This research found that the average pre-test self-management score was = 45.6 while the post-test score = 50.89. The average pre-test blood sugar value = 226.09mg/dl and post-test value = 220.90 mg/dl. The conclusion is that mentoring activities are effective in changing the quality of self-management, but not blood sugar levels. It is recommended that this assistance activity be continued by the community health center so that the results can be maintained in the long term so that they can improve the quality of life of DM sufferers and have an impact on reducing their blood sugar.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the ability of students at Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang to publish their research findings in nationally accredited journals. The main problem identified was the students’ limited understanding of article writing structure, publication ethics, and journal selection strategies. The implementation method applied the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach through five stages—discovery, dream, design, define, and destiny—which involved observation, training design, socialization, and hands-on practice. The program was conducted through lectures, simulations, interactive discussions, and evaluation using pre- and post-tests involving 50 seventh-semester students. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ knowledge, with the average score increasing from 12.14 to 17.66 (p=0.000), and an increase of 25–45% in their understanding of scientific article writing. The outputs included published articles, an ISBN-registered guidebook, intellectual property rights (HKI), and video documentation. In conclusion, this training and socialization program effectively improved students’ literacy in scientific publication and contributed to strengthening the academic culture and publication reputation of Poltekkes Kemenkes Padang.

Abstract

The presence of water reservoirs as mosquito breeding sites is a major factor in the transmission of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). This study developed an engineering-based tool to manage larval density and prevent mosquito proliferation. Experiments were conducted using 18 water reservoirs made of fiber, concrete, metal, and plastic, both with and without larval traps, with 900 Aedes aegypti larvae as samples. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods (T-test) at a 95% confidence level. Results showed no significant difference among container materials in supporting mosquito breeding, allowing flexibility in designing water containers for vector control. A light sensor was later integrated to detect larval presence, and a model for community-based application was introduced. The findings confirm that all types of water storage, regardless of material or size, can support mosquito breeding. Incorporating technologies such as light or motion sensors can enhance larval control efforts. This model also serves as a tool for public education on environmental health, emphasizing the importance of household conditions in preventing mosquito proliferation. Further research will refine and implement the model in real-world settings.

Abstract

The study aims to develop and validate an online thesis management system designed to address the limitations of manual systems in the thesis supervision process, such as a lack of transparency, delays in communication, and difficulties in monitoring student progress. In response to these challenges, this study proposes an integrated system framework that facilitates real-time academic interaction between students and their thesis advisors. The method employs a system development research approach using the waterfall model, which was selected for its suitability in developing structured and systematically documented systems. The research phases include requirements analysis, system design based on Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and use case diagrams, implementation, and system testing. The system was evaluated using a usability testing approach, involving the distribution of a questionnaire to 55 respondents to measure usability, ease of use, and user satisfaction. The results indicate that the developed system model is capable of improving the efficiency of thesis supervision management, enhancing the transparency of academic processes, and supporting data driven decision making. The main contribution of this study lies in the development of an adaptive, user-oriented academic information system model, which not only has practical implications for the management of final projects but also provides a conceptual foundation for the development of similar systems in higher education institutions. The implications of this study underscore the importance of ongoing system integration with other academic platforms, as well as the need for periodic system evaluations to enhance the user experience and ensure the sustainability of the implementation.
