In linguistics, semantics studies how meaning is expressed through language, including sentences, phrases, and words. Connotative meaning, which gives words emotional depth and resonance, is significant in song lyrics. This study, titled “A Semantic Analysis of Connotative Meaning in Ben Howard’s Song Lyrics,” aims to explore the connotative meanings in Ben Howard's lyrics. The researcher chose five of his most popular songs on Spotify for this analysis. Using a qualitative descriptive analysis approach, the study looks into the sense of values and types of connotative meanings in the lyrics. The analysis shows that the songs’ themes affect the types of connotations found. Songs about love, vulnerability, and youth memories tend to have positive connotations, while themes of self-doubt, separation, and searching for life’s meaning have more negative and neutral connotations. Moreover, associative meaning is the most common connotative form, followed by affective, reflective, and allusive meanings. The findings indicate that song themes greatly influence the types of connotations used, with positive connotations more frequent in hopeful songs and negative ones in introspective songs. This research adds to language studies by offering insights into the complex and rich meanings in Ben Howard’s song lyrics.

The purpose of PPK Ormawa is to optimize the creativity of children and adolescents as an effort to build character which is realized by IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro as one of the education-based universities in Bojonegoro Regency. This activity is realized through art and literacy. The arts include music, visual arts, theater arts, and vocal arts, while literacy focuses on language in the form of musical poetry for children and village youth. In addition, this program aims to increase the capacity of student organizations (Ormawa) which are the existence of higher education institutions. This method of PPK Ormawa activities is carried out in the form of practice. This activity begins with a survey, looking for existing problems, and mitigation efforts. The results of this dedication are the PPK Ormawa team of Soul and Feel Music UKM IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro has succeeded in forming an Art Community in Kawengan Village, Kedewan District which was inaugurated in October 2022. Tujuan PPK Ormawa ini untuk mengoptimalisasikan kreativitas anak-anak dan remaja sebagai upaya pembentukan karakter yang direalisasikan oleh IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro sebagai salah satu perguruan tinggi berbasis pendidikan di Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Kegiatan ini diwujudkan melalui kesenian dan literasi. Kesenian tersebut mencakup seni musik, seni rupa, seni teater, dan olah vokal. Sedangkan literasi terfokus pada bahasa dalam bentuk musikalisasi puisi bagi anak-anak dan remaja. Program ini juga bertujuan untuk membangun kapasitas organisasi mahasiswa yang menjadi eksistensi bagi perguruan tinggi. Metode Kegiatan PPK Ormawa ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk praktik. Kegiatan ini diawali dengan survei, mencari permasalahan yang ada, dan upaya mitigasinya. Hasil pengabdian ini yaitu Tim PPK Ormawa Musik Soul and Feel IKIP PGRI Bojonegoro telah berhasil membentuk sebuah komunitas seni di Desa Kawengan, Kecamatan Kedewan yang diresmikan pada Oktober 2022.

The diverse literacy activities are one of the attractions for visitors to a community reading park. The lack of variety of activities at the Smart Friends Community Reading Park (CRP) is one of the reasons why this CRP is no longer visited by children in the surrounding area. Therefore, this community service activity aims to build multiliteracy of children around the CRP by holding flip read-aloud and bookish play activities. The method used in this activity is the direct learning method. This program has succeeded in reviving the reading park which can actually provide many benefits for children in building multiliteracy. In it, children learn to listen, retell, make decisions, train creativity and imagination.

ABSTRACT The village of Sukoharjo in Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency, has natural potential, including rice fields, fertile lands along the Bengawan Solo River, and an abundance of fruit crops such as crystal guava, water guava, avocado, longan, starfruit, and honey jackfruit. The village also has natural resources like oil wells and cultural heritage in the stories of Joko Popok and Mbok Rondo Mori. This potential, however, has not been fully utilized for developing a tourist village that could serve as an income generator for the local community. This community service program aims to implement the Sukoharjo-Bojonegoro Tourist Village Upskilling-Upgrading Program through the 3ED Program (Edu-Etno-Eco-Digital Tourism). “Upskilling” involves enhancing the skills of stakeholders and villagers in managing tourism potential, while “upgrading” focuses on improving the systems, procedures, and operations of the tourist village to be more efficient and effective. Upskilling and upgrading village tourism will create opportunities to stimulate the local economy, increase village income and welfare, expand employment opportunities, and contribute to poverty reduction. This program has produced five tourism packages, tested with kindergarten/RA and elementary/MI students: Edutourism 1, Edutourism 2, Ed-tourism 3, Ecotourism, and Ethnotourism. To strengthen the online marketing of these tourism packages, the community service team organized digital marketing training for village officials, women's tourism groups, and youth organizations. Desa ini juga memiliki kekayaan alam sumur minyak serta budaya cerita kisah Joko Popok dan Mbok Rondo Mori. Potensi ini belum digunakan sepenuhnya untuk pengembangan desa wisata yang dapat menjadi income generator bagi masyarakat setempat. Kegiatan PkM ini bertujuan mengadakan Program Upskilling-Upgrading Desa Wisata Sukoharjo-Bojonegoro melalui Program 3ED (Edu-Etno-Eco-Digital Tourism). Upskilling terkait dengan peningkatan kemampuan stake holder dan masyarakat desa dalam mengelola potensi wisata, sementara upgrading memiliki makna peningkatan sistem, prosedur, dan cara kerja desa wisata agar menjadi lebih efisien dan efektif. Upskillling dan upgrading wisata desa akan membuka peluang untuk menggerakan ekonomi di tingkat lokal, meningkatkan pendapatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa, memberikan kesempatan kerja yang semakin luas, dan berkontribusi mengurangi kemiskinan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menghasilkan 5 paket wisata yang telah diuji cobakan kepada siswa TK/RA dan SD/MI, yaitu Edutourism 1, Edutourism 2, Edutourism 3, Ecotourism, dan Ethnotourism. Untuk memperkuat pemasaran online paket-paket wisata tersebut, tim PkM mengadakan pelatihan digital marketing bagi perangkat desa, ibu-ibu pokdarwis, dan pemuda Karang Taruna.

This research includes a slang analysis of the lyrics of selected songs from Blink-182's "Enema of The State" album. The purpose of this study is to classify the types of slang that appear in the lyrics of Blink-182's album ``enema of the state'' and clarify the meaning of the slang. In this research, the author uses descriptive and qualitative methods. The data source for this research is a selection of Blink-182 song lyrics from the album "Enema of The State." Five types of slang are used in this song: Colloquial slang, pejorative slang, expressive slang, self-deprecatory slang, and vulgar slang. Colloquial slang is the type of slang that appears most often in selected blink-182 songs.

This study presents the author's experiment on the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model. The purpose of this study is to improve children's memory skills in vocabulary learning in grade 4 elementary school children. The researchers used experimental quantitative methods. In this study, researchers used crossword puzzles as learning media in conjunction with the Team Games Tournament learning model. In this study, the researchers made a comparison between the pre-test and post-test scores, namely the lowest score was 36 and the lowest score of the post-test was 40. And the maximum value of the pre-test was at 84 with the maximum value during the post-test was 88, so it was said that the study was quite effective in improving children's memory in 4th grade English vocabulary lessons.

This study examines code-mixing and code-switching in PUELLA ID YouTube podcast videos. The main goals of this research are to describe the types of code-mixing and code-switching found in the PUELLA ID podcast, compare the English and Indonesian code-mixing and code-switching used by the guest stars, and identify the factors that cause code-mixing and code-switching in the podcast. The writer utilizes descriptive and qualitative research methods. The data sources consist of two selected podcast videos on YouTube PUELLA ID. In the first podcast video, two types of code mixing, insertion and alternation, are used. Only one kind of code-switching, intra-sentential, is present. The second podcast video also utilizes insertion and alternation code mixing, along with different types of code-switching: Tag, Inter-sentential, and Intra-Sentential. Insertion code-mixing and Intra-sentential code-switching dominate the types of code mixing and code-switching used in both podcast videos.

Community Reading Park or Taman Bacaan Masyarakat (TBM) is a non-formal educational facility that provides literacy and cultural services to the community. Although TBMs are established based on four legal foundations, in practice, several TBMs face both external and internal challenges. TBM Karya Muda, located in Klepek Village, Sukosewu District, Bojonegoro Regency, also faces both types of challenges. They include a low number of visitors, a limited book collection, lack of variety in TBM programs, limited availability of the management team, minimal funding, lack of collaboration, and unmotivated children visitors who prefer gadgets over reading. Considering the environmental potential of TBM, with 17 schools in its surrounding area, this condition became the basis for the PkM Team to conduct a Spelling Bee Competition at TBM Karya Muda, involving 30 elementary school children from grades 2 to 6. The activity aims to foster a culture of literacy—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—in English from an early age. Spelling ability is a foundational skill for reading and writing literacies. The Spelling Bee Competition was carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and closing. The results of the PkM activity show that the Spelling Bee Competition helped increase children's English vocabulary, improve memory, boost self-confidence, motivate healthy competition, and strengthen literacy in reading and writing.
