Abstract

ABSTRACT Chili high yield is the target of plant breeding. High yielding chili selection can be done through direct selection of yield characters and indirectly through other characters. Indirect selection is more efficient than the selection of one character. This research aims to study the relationship between quantitative characters with yield as well as obtaining the selection criteria. Correlation analysis results showed that the fruit weight, fruit diameter, pericarp thickness, leaf width, and leaf length were positively correlated and were very significant on yield. Based on the path analysis, characters that have a positive direct effect on yield are fruit weight, fruit diameter, leaf width, and leaf length, while pericarp thickness had a negative direct effect but had a large indirect effect on yield.

Abstract

Selection is very important activity in plant breeding program. The purpose of this study was to obtain genetic information, heritability and expected genetic advance, and to compare the genetic advance expectations with the selection advance. The research was conducted from September 2013 to November 2015 at Research Station of Leuwikopo, Dramaga, Bogor. Distribution of F2 population data in this study was broader than that of F3 populations. Broad sense heritability estimated by F3 populations showed in agreement to that estimated by F2 population. Character of fruit weight, fruit length, pedicel length and yield had positive value of selection advance appropriate to the genetic advance expectations in F2 populations. The value of heritability estimate and genetic advance were high indicating that the phenotypic variances were controlled by action of additive genes.Keywords: genetic advance, heritability, selection advance

Abstract

Pengembangan varietas cabai toleran lahan gambut merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan produksi cabai di lahan gambut yang cukup luas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan kriteria seleksi cabai toleran lahan gambut. Penelitian dilaksanakan di KP Rimbo Panjang, Fakultas Pertanian UNRI pada bulan November 2020 hingga Maret 2021. Penelitian menggunakan 20 genotipe cabai meliputi sembilan cabai besar, enam cabai keriting, dan lima cabai rawit. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan genotipe berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua karakter kuantitatif yang diamati kecuali umur panen dan diameter batang. Tinggi tanaman, lebar tajuk, tinggi dikotomus, diameter buah, panjang buah, bobot buah, tebal daging buah, umur berbunga, jumlah buah, dan bobot buah per tanaman memiliki nilai heritabilitas tinggi. Hasil analisis lintas menunjukkan bahwa ketebalan daging buah, bobot buah, panjang buah, dan diameter buah berpengaruh langsung terhadap bobot buah per tanaman. Karakteristik diameter buah, panjang buah dan bobot buah secara tidak langsung mempengaruhi bobot buah per tanaman melalui karakteristik daging buah. Karakter yang dapat digunakan sebagai kriteria seleksi cabai toleran lahan gambut adalah ketebalan daging buah (0.71), bobot buah (0.80) dan panjang buah (0.74). Abstract

The way to get superior varieties is by selection, namely through genetic parameters including diversity, heritability and genetic progress. This study aims to obtain information on the inheritance pattern of quantitative characters in several genotypes planted on peatlands. This study used a randomized block design consisting of 20 treatments and 3 replications so that 60 experimental units were obtained. Each experimental unit consisted of 20 plants and 10 plants were taken as samples. The results showed that the characters of red chili plant height, dichotomous height, crown width, fruit length, fruit diameter and weight per fruit can be used as selection criteria because they have wide diversity values, high heritability and high genetic progress which can be used as indicators of success. selection. Then, in cayenne pepper, all characters have a narrow genetic diversity value. Characteristics of flowering age, plant height, dichotomous height, crown width, fruit length, fruit diameter, weight per fruit and fruit weight per plant can be used as selection criteria because they have heritability values. and high genetic progress which can be used as indicators of successful selection.

Abstract

Ranah Singkuang is one of 10 villages classified as stunting villages in the Kampar regency area with a percentage of 24%. The Kampar District Government has done prevention programs on stunting condition from 2018 to 2019. If not treated immediately, the condition of stunting will affect the quality of human resources in the future. The condition of stunting causes children not to grow normally, low IQ, susceptible to infectious diseases as a result of low productivity, and difficulty competing in the world of work. The purpose of this community service activity is the transfer of knowledge to the community in Ranah Singkuang village, increasing the knowledge and ability of village community in terms of processing various kinds of fish-based products that have high nutritional values that are salable in the market in order to boost the community’s economy, provide knowledge about children's health by providing education to the community and training children's healthy menus so that their appetite increases. The result achieved from this community service activity are that the community understands more about the importance of nutrition for toddlers especially before the age of 1000 days and the community can process fish-based food, so that stunting problems in the village can be prevented.

Abstract

Desa Kuok merupakan salah satu nama daerah di Kampar, Pekanbaru. Desa ini termasuk dengan mayoritas penduduk adalah petani ladang dan perkebunan. Infrastruktur di Desa ini banyak lahan hijau yang digunakan sebagai tempat berladang dan berkebun serta memberikan pembelajaran tersendiri bagi petani-petani yang ada. Hal lain yang muncul dan tidak dapat dikesampingkan dengan banyaknya lahan hijau memberikan suatu masalah sampah terutama sampah daun. Selama ini sampah daun yang hanya dikumpulkan dan dibuang ditempat pembuangan sampah akhir belum ada yang memanfaatkan. Tujuan dari program ini adalah untuk membuat kompos daun sebagai solusi kreatif bagi petani ladang dan perkebunan serta memberikan ilmu kepada penduduk kegunaan limbah tidak terpakai.

Abstract

Pemuliaan tanaman merupakan salah satu upaya peningkatan produksi cabai. Hasil akhir dari program ini adalah didapatkan varietas yang toleran terhadap lingkungan ketika di tanam pada lahan gambut. Hubungan karakter kuantitatif beberapa genotipe tanaman cabai perlu dipelajari untuk membantu penentuan karakter yang memiliki pengaruh terhadap produksi. Informasi ini membantu dalam proses seleksi untuk mendapatkan calon varietas unggul baru toleran lahan gambut. Rancangan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari delapan genotipe dengan tiga ulangan. Data hasil pengamatan selanjutnya dilakukan analisis ragam, kemudian mengatahui kaitan antara satu peubah dengan peubah lainnya dapat memanfaatkan analisis korelasi yakni korelasi Pearson. Setelah mendapatkan informasi korelasi, dilanjutkan dengan sidik lintas. Peubah tidak bebas ditetapkan guna menduga koefisien lintas. Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa peubah bobot per buah sebesar 0,771, panjang buah sebesar 0,585, dan diameter buah sebesar 0,525 berkorelasi positif dengan produksi per tanaman. Hasil sidik lintas menunjukkan perubah bobot per buah memperlihatkan pengaruh direct kepada produksi per tanaman, namun peubah panjang dan diameter buah memperlihatkan pengaruh indirect melalui bobot per buah sehingga meningkatkan produksi per tanaman.

Abstract

Produksi tomat dapat ditingkatkan melalui teknik pemuliaan tanaman dengan merancang vaeritas tomat adaptif pada dataran rendah dan melakukan seleksi pada genotipe-genotipe unggul menggunakan parameter genetik heritabilitas. Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi produksi dan heritabilitas karakter komponen hasil pada beberapa genotipe tomat. Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau menjadi lokasi percobaan ini mulai September 2022 hingga Februari 2023. Rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) adalah metodologi penelitian yang digunakan. Sebanyak 30 unit percobaan diperoleh dengan mengulang setiap genotipe hingga tiga ulangan. Berdasarkan penelitian, diperoleh hasil bahwa genotipe F7 003008-1-12-10-10-6(1) (SG3), F7 078097D-9-7-2-21-13(1) (SG5), dan F7 097D078-2-2-2-10(19R)-4(3) (SG6) merupakan genotipe-genotipe yang memiliki berat buah per tanaman dan jumlah buah lebih baik dari varietas Ratna dan Intan. Karakter waktu panen pertama, diameter buah, panjang buah, berat buah, jumlah buah, dan berat buah per tanaman adalah karakter dengan heritabilitas tinggi, sedangkan karakter umur muncul bunga adalah karakter dengan heritabilitas sedang.

Abstract

Cow dung waste often poses a significant problem, leading to environmental pollution in places like Mekar Jaya Village, Kampar Kiri Tengah District, Kampar Regency. This service aims to address this issue by utilizing cow dung waste, not only to prevent environmental pollution but also to provide an additional source of income for livestock farmers in Mekar Jaya Village. The method of implementing these activities involves both socialization and hands-on field practice in managing cow dung waste. The results of these community service activities through socialization have led to an increase in the community's awareness of the importance of processing cow dung waste into fertilizer, thereby mitigating environmental pollution. This initiative is followed by practical demonstrations on how to produce cow dung compost. The process of manufacturing organic fertilizer has yielded positive results, meeting the expectations of the project.

Abstract

The community of Sialang Sakti predominantly works as oil palm farmers. Oil palm cultivation produces biomass, one of which is palm fronds. If palm fronds are not managed properly, they can lead to detrimental effects. Piles of palm fronds can become breeding grounds for pests and diseases that may disrupt surrounding palm plants. The biomass from palm fronds can be processed into vermicompost, but this is not widely known among oil palm farmers. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct socialization regarding the processing of palm fronds into vermicompost. The socialization with the community and Gapoktan Manunggal Sakti took place at the Gapoktan Manunggal Sakti warehouse in Sialang Sakti Village, Siak Regency, Riau Province. By utilizing palm frond biomass, the community was taught how to make vermicompost, supporting sustainable farming practices and biomass utilization. This activity involved community members and Gapoktan Manunggal Sakti, using materials such as palm frond biomass, Lumbricus rubellus worms, cow manure, and sawdust. The outcome of this activity is that participants can identify potential resources, such as palm fronds and other organic waste, to process into vermicompost, which can enhance soil quality and crop productivity. It is hoped that with this training, the people of Sialang Sakti Village can adopt the use of more environmentally friendly organic fertilizers for sustainable agriculture.
