Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research had been conducted from December to March 2015 at Horticultural Seed Center, Marpoyan, Pekanbaru. The study aimed to determine the effect of the type of rootstock and the storage period of buds as well as the interaction between both of them towards  its growth. This study was conducted experimentally by using completely randomized factorial design (CRFD) consisting of two factors and seven replications. The first factor was type of rootstock (B1: Japanese Citroen, B2: Rough Lemon) and the second factor was storage period of buds (M0: directly grafted, M1: 1-day storage period, M2: 2-day storage period, M3: 3-day storage period). Parameters measured were growth percentage of buds, bud burst time, length of buds, number of leaves and diameter of buds. The results showed that the Rough Lemon rootstock had a significant effect on the number of leaves, length of buds, bud burst time, diameter of buds and equally effect on the growth percentage of buds. Storage period of the buds did not significantly affect the growth of the grafted Siam Madu citrus seedlings.. The interaction between the type of rootstock and the storage period of buds only occurred in the bud burst time only.

Abstract

Penyebab okulasi jeruk siam madu tidak dapat tumbuh adalah jenis batang bawah yang tidak kompatibel dan lama penyimpanan entres. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan jenis batang bawah yang kompatibel dan lama penyimpanan entres yang memberikan pengaruh paling baik terhadap pertumbuhan bibit okulasi jeruk siam madu. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai dengan September 2017 di Balai Benih Induk Hortikultura Pekanbaru, Provinsi Riau. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dengan 2 faktor dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuannya terdiri dari 4 jenis batang bawah yaitu Japanese citroen, Jeruk Lemon, Jeruk Purut dan Jeruk Nipis dan 4 waktu penyimpanan entres menggunakan gedebog pisang yaitu disimpan 1 hari, 3 hari, 5 hari dan 7 hari. . Hasil percobaan menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh interaksi jenis batang bawah dan lama penyimpanan entres terhadap waktu pecah tunas, persentase mata tunas jadi, panjang tunas, diameter tunas, jumlah daun, indeks luas daun terhadap pertumbuhan okulasi bibit jeruk siam madu. Semua jenis batang bawah yang di kombinasikan dengan lama penyimpanan entres 1 hari menghasikan waktu pecah tunas paling cepat dan panjang tunas yang paling panjang. Jenis batang bawah japanese citroen dan jeruk nipis yang dikombinasikan dengan lama penyimpanan entres 1 hari menghasilkan persentase mata tunas jadi paling tinggi.  Jenis batang bawah japanese citroen menghasilkan persentase mata tunas tumbuh paling tinggi, sedangkan lama penyimpanan entres 1 hari menghasilkan persentase tumbuh okulasi paling tinggi. Jenis batang bawah japanese citroen dan jeruk nipis yang dikombinasikan dengan lama penyimpanan entres menghasilkan panjang tunas paling tinggi. Batas toleransi penyimpanan entres adalah 3 hari dengan menggunakan batang bawah japanese citroen. Kata kunci :.. jeruk siam madu, japanese citroen, jeruk lemon, jeruk purut, jeruk nipis, batang bawah, lama penyimpanan entres

Abstract

Red chilies are one of the horticultural commodities that have high economic value in Indonesia. Red chili production in Indonesia in 2021 will reach 136 million tons, with Riau province experiencing a decline in production which causes a production deficit in the province. To increase production, it is necessary to improve red chili cultivation techniques. The growth of red chili plants is influenced by internal and external factors, including ideal rainfall ranging from 600 mm/year to 1,250 mm/year. Rainfall that is too high can cause air humidity to increase and plants are more susceptible to disease. Red chili plants also require slightly hot daytime temperatures and sufficient water availability. In the rainy season, the risk of red chili crop failure is high because the plants cannot tolerate standing water. Excess water can cause plant root rot and diseases such as bacterial wilt and anthracnose. Therefore, it is necessary to develop red chili cultivation techniques in the rainy season, such as making the right planting schedule, understanding cultivation techniques, and using technical cultural measures such as making higher beds and using appropriate pesticides. With the right cultivation techniques, it is hoped that it can increase farmers' income and welfare. Red chili cultivation can also provide large profits if revenue is high and production costs are low. Therefore, it is important to optimize efforts to increase red chili production by using appropriate cultivation techniques during the rainy season. The aim of this community service activity is to increase public knowledge about cultivating chili plants during the rainy season in Teluk Piyai Pesisir.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang budidaya tanaman cabai merah dan kondisi tanah di Teluk Piyai Pesisir. Pengabdian telah dilakukan pada bulan Agustus 2024. Pengabdian dilakukan dengan metode diskusi dan praktik lapangan. Dari hasil diskusi dan praktik lapangan diperoleh permasalahan yang dominan pada petani adalah adalah kondisi tanah yang mengandung phyrite dan tergenang pasang air laut, pengolahan tanah, serta masalah yang tidak terlalu signifikan adalah hama dan penyakit serta masalah panen hingga penjualan cabai merah. Dari hasil diskusi direkomendasikan untuk kedepannya agar petani untuk dapat melakukan pemupukan yang sesuai dosis anjuran dan pada pengolahan tanah untuk tidak terlalu dalam saat mencangkul atau mengolah tanah menggunakan traktor pada kedalaman lebih dari 40 cm sudah terdapat kandungan phyrite yang dapat mengganggu pertumbuhan tanaman dan kondisi tergenang kandungan phyirite lebih mudah tersebar dan larut di permukaan tanah

Abstract

This study evaluates the use of Paper Mill Sludge (PMS) waste as a partial replacement for fine aggregate in paving block production, focusing on compressive strength and economic feasibility. PMS was incorporated at 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the total fine aggregate weight. Compressive strength tests followed the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 03-0691-1996), accompanied by production cost analysis. The results showed that 5% PMS achieved the highest compressive strength of 264.23 kg/cm², about 7.7% higher than the control 258.71 kg/cm², meeting the SNI quality class B (K200) standard. Meanwhile, 10% PMS reduced production costs by 6–8% while still satisfying the minimum requirement for K200 paving blocks (category B). This demonstrates a clear trade-off between mechanical performance and cost efficiency, where 5% PMS ensures maximum strength, while 10% PMS provides adequate strength with economic benefits. At lower levels, PMS fibers improved cement–aggregate bonding and reduced voids, whereas higher dosages (>10%) disrupted hydration and lowered strength. Practically, PMS utilization offers the paving block industry a sustainable and cost-effective alternative that reduces reliance on natural aggregates, supports waste valorization, and aligns with SNI standards for applications such as parking lots.

Abstract

BUMDes Harapan Makmur was established with the aim of developing the village's economic potential through business units based on local resources, including the management of agricultural tools, trade in agricultural products, and equipment and transportation rental services. The businesses run by BUMDes have not yet been operating optimally. This is due to a lack of competent human resources, a lack of external support, and limited access to training and outreach at BUMDes Harapan Makmur. This community service program aims to identify strategic steps to increase the capacity of BUMDes management for suntainability. The methods used in the preparation stage included surveys and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), while the implementation and evaluation stages followed. The training results indicated that BUMDes Harapan Makmur has several potential business units that can be developed, namely the Rice Milling Unit (RMU), a 5-hectare oil palm plantation, agriculture and livestock businesses, oil palm plantations (5 ha) and rice fields (70 ha), provision of agricultural production facilities (saprodi), agricultural services (RMU, rice field plowing), and travel services. Implications in increasing the capacity of administrators through capacity building training for administrators, optimization of agricultural tools and agricultural inputs, socialization and community empowerment

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui respons fisiologi dan hasil pada tanaman padi terhadap aplikasi pupuk organik dan pupuk NPK dengan penambahan mikrob pada media gambut. Dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 7 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan, penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimen. Perlakuan penelitian adalah (P0) Tanpa Perlakuan, (P1) 50% Pupuk NPK, (P2) 100% Pupuk NPK, (P3) Kompos jerami padi 80 gram, (P4) Serasah jerami padi 160 gram + mikrob 160 ml, (P5) kompos jerami padi 80 gram + 50% Pupuk NPK, dan (P6) serasah jerami padi 160 gram + mikrob   160 ml + 50% Pupuk NPK. Data dianalisis statistik sidik ragam dan uji lanjut DMRT taraf 5%. Hasil  menunjukkan bahwa permberian 50% Pupuk NPK mampu meningkatkan laju fotosintesis pada fase vegetatif tanaman padi 15,19 - 22,74 μmol CO2 m-2 s-1 (meningkat 37%) dibandingkan tanpa perlakuan. Pemberian kombinasi pupuk organik dan pupuk NPK dengan penambahan mikrob pada perlakuan serasah jerami padi 160 gram + mikrob 160 ml + 50% Pupuk NPK mampu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman padi, jumlah anakan produktif, jumlah gabah bernas per malai, yang signifikan berpengaruh terhadap hasil berat kering tanaman dan indeks panen.

Abstract

Sawi pakcoy adalah salah satu sayuran yang banyak disukai masyarakat Indonesia karena rasanya enak, bergizi dan kaya akan vitamin A dan vitamin C. Praktik budidaya sawi pakcoy secara konvensional yang menggunakan agrokimia seperti pupuk kimia dan pestisida sintetis dapat meninggalkan residu pada tanah dan pada hasil panen yang berpotensi mencemari lingkungan dan membahayakan kesehatan konsumen. Pemanfaatan pupuk kascing dalam praktik budidaya sawi pakcoy dapat menjadi solusi pengurangan penggunaan pupuk kimia yang berlebihan dan sejalan dengan program pemerintah dalam rangka menjaga kelestarian lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh berbagai dosis pupuk kascing terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil sawi pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). Penelitian yang dilaksanakan di UPT Kebun Percobaan Faklutas Pertanian Universitas Riau, menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan enam perlakuan dosis pupuk kascing (K), yaitu: K0: (kontrol) tanpa pupuk kascing K1: 4 ton.ha-1 pupuk kascing g, K2: 8 ton.ha-1 pupuk kascing, K3: 12 ton.ha-1 pupuk kascing, K4: 16 ton.ha-1 pupuk kascing, K5: pupuk kascing 20 ton.ha-1 pupuk kascing. Setiap perlakuan dibuat ulangan sebanyak empat ulangan. Semua data yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisa varian (ANOVA) uji F dan menggunakan uji lanjut dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk kascing berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, panjang daun, berat segar tanaman, berat segar layak konsumsi, dan rasio tajuk dan akar sawi pakcoy. Aplikasi pupuk kascing dengan dosis sebanyak 20 ton.ha-1 memberikan pertumbuhan dan hasil yang lebih baik dibanding dosis lainnya.

Abstract

Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is a strategic plantation crop in Indonesia, playing important roles in society, the economy, and industry. Indragiri Hilir Regency is the largest producer of coconut in Riau Province; however, productivity has declined as plantations have aged. This study aimed to analyze the quality of coconut fruit based on plant age. A non-experimental comparative observational design was employed with three plant age treatments (15, 20, and 25 years). Each treatment was replicated six times, yielding 18 experimental units. Each unit consisted of two sample plants, totaling 36 plants. The measured parameters included endosperm thickness (mm), oil yield (%), and oil moisture content (%). For oil yield and moisture analysis, two mature coconuts were collected from each plant and analyzed in the laboratory, resulting in 36 samples. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, and significant results were further tested using Tukey's HSD at the 5% level. The results showed that plant age had a considerable effect on endosperm thickness, oil yield, and moisture content. These findings suggest that plant age affects coconut fruit quality, with 25-year-old trees producing the highest-quality fruits in the Tembilahan Hulu District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. This study offers recommendations for coconut farmers to optimize cultivation strategies, thereby enhancing production and fruit quality.

Abstract

Soursop (Annona muricata L.) is a tropical fruit plant with high economic value; however, its cultivation is limited by seed dormancy, which delays germination. This study aimed to determine the most effective sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) concentration for breaking seed dormancy and improving seed viability of soursop. The experiment was conducted at the Greenhouse and Plant Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Riau, and implemented using a completely randomized design with four treatments: 0% (control), 70%, 75%, and 80% H2SO4 concentration. Each treatment was repeated five times. A total of 20 experimental units were obtained, each consisting of 25 seeds, for a total of 500 seeds used in the experiment. The results indicated that sulfuric acid treatment significantly affected most germination parameters. Seeds soaked in a 75% sulfuric acid solution exhibited the fastest germination time (28.40 Day After Planting), the highest germination percentage (88.80 %), and the strongest seed vigor (5.55%). These findings suggest that chemical scarification with 75% H₂SO₄ for 30 minutes can serve as a practical and efficient pre-sowing treatment to improve seedling establishment in soursop propagation.
