Abstract

ABSTRACT: Hoax and hate speech have become phenomena which often spread in cyberspace, especially in social media. Particularly during the period of political contestation in Indonesia, this has developed into something very alarming. Experience has shown that the polarization and the sharp conflicts which result from it in society have eroded our nation's sense of unity and brotherhood. Moreover, this phenomenon can develop into humanity crisis in Indonesia, humanity that is friendly, tolerant, open, just and civilized towards each other. Modern technology clearly has a big role in engendering this problem, especially information technology that develops super fast. Hoax and hate speech, for example, become easily and quickly widespread because they are made possible by social media and its algorithms. A number of philosophical studies of technology show that modern technology is not just a neutral tool. Modern technology shapes and changes people’s perspectives and ways of life in the world. In addition to the legal approach via the uncompromising application of the ITE (Electronic Information & Transaction) Law, a critical approach to modern technology is needed to protect Indonesia's unity and humanity from the negative potential which accompanies modern technology. KEY WORDS: hoax, hate speech, identity politics, globalization, unity, Indonesian humanity, modern technology, enframing, challenging-forth, technology mediation, technology detox, moralising technology.

Abstract

This research was intended to calculate values of tourism and fishery economic loss due to aquatic pollution by applying a dynamic model. Data collected is obtained through direct field and from data base Fisheries department, ecotourism and local government.Data process with Stella versi 9.0.2 High Performance System, Inc., 2007. Results of this research showed a simulation with budget allocation of sewage end processing installation (IPAL) and working effectivity of 30%, it was gained net benefit in fishery and tourism as much as Rp1.469.772/month and total benefit received up to the 10th year was Rp12.538.802.584.706.- Model simulation of compensation of insentive value was Rp1.153 person//month at the initial period to Rp8.397.567,- end of this simulation. If compared between the compensation value and the insentive value received by the community, there was a net surplus that give an economic advantage between values paid by the community to solve the pollution and benefit enjoyed by the community. At theoptimism scenario model, it was found impact of economic increase, whereas, results of the pessimism model gave a decrease by introducing sewage processing installation.

Abstract

Fishing effort enhancement would put pressure on blue swimming crab resources and its ecosystem. The objective of this study was to determine the spatial distribution based on the size of the carapace width (CW), abundance, temperature, salinity, depth, and fishing intensity in Pati waters which was divided into two zones (zones 1=nearshore, zone 2=offshore). The result showed that the average of carapace width in zone 1 to zone 2 was significantly different (p <0.05), as well as between males and females. Average number of individual (abundance) was significantly different according to fishing areas and sex (p <0.05). The average of water temperature in zone 1 was higher than in zone 2, salinity in zone 1 was smaller than in zone 2, and the water depth in zone 1 was shallower than in zone 2. The higher the crab catch intensity leaded to the smaller the abundance and size of carapace width. Alternative management strategies were proposed such as to divert fishing grounds from coastal waters to offshore during low productivity season, to uphold rules on minimum legal size for catching (Lm = 107 mm),  to release of berried females catch, and to reduce accretion rate of gear and fishing fleet mainly in the coastal zone waters. Keywords:  blue swimming crab, carapace widht (CW), abundance, intensity of fishing

Abstract

Mud crab (Scylla serrata) is one of small scale fisheries commodity that have high economic value and typically associated with good mangrove ecosystem. A habitat degradation will cause a serious impact on the existence of mud crab population. The puropse of this study was to assess the ecological quality of mud crab habitat condition on Bintan Bay’s mangrove ecosystem. Ecological data collection was conducted by using plots line transect for mangrove and the mud carb data collection by using fishermen catch (fisher based survey). The results showed the value of habitat quality index (HQI) of mud crab (Scylla serrata) ranged from 52-82 which mean in the “moderate” category (index value 43-66) and "good" (index value 67-90). It showed that Bintan Bay’s mangrove ecosystems was good enough to support the viability of mud crab. Habitat quality had a linier impact on body weight gain (R2 = 99.78%) and carapace width (R2= 99.21%). This showed that higher the index value of habitat quality, the size of the body weight and carapace width will increases. Keywords: Scylla serrata, habitat quality, ecology, mangroves, and Bintan Bay
