Abstract

Recently the use of plastic packaging is become avoided because their waste will create environmental problem. As an alternative choice the use of biodegradable plastic packaging has been developed Research on biodegradable plastic has been carried out to study the effect of water content and kind of plasticizer on mechanical properties of the biodegradable plastic made from corn starch and polyvinyl alcohol. The result shows that water can increase the elongation of the plastic, but on the other hand it can decrease the tensile strength and barrier properties by increasing the water vapour transsmision rate. Therefore the use of water as a plasticizer must be mixed with other plasticizer such as glycerol, sorbitol, polyethylene glycol and glycerol monostearate. In this study the best result is by using mixture of water and sorbitol with ratio = 5: I and the ratio of solid material (starch + PVOH +nucleating agent) and plasticizer = 1 : I.

Hal ini mendorong para produsen bersaing ketat merebut pasar dengan jalan memproduksi bahan yang bermutu tinggi dan memenuhi standar yang ditetapkan. Kemajuan tekno­ logi berperan untuk menciptakan produk ­produk olahan baru dengan berbagai je­nisnya.

Abstract

Polystyren is linear polymer which thermoplastic made with syntesa from one or more monomer eg : styren, aerylonitril and butadien. The ·bases of making polystyren is polymeritation reaction. Polymeritation have 5 bypes, each type has characteristicand used difficult. Polymerita­tion process have variaty technique where it is goodness and likensess.

Abstract

Percobaan dilakukan untuk mencari tebal optimum dari jerigen HDPE kapasitas 30 liter yang digunakan untuk mengemas produk bahan berbahaya. Dimensi dari jerigen HDPE yang digunakan adalah 343 x 273 x 445 mm . Jerigen plastik dibuat dengan proses ekstrusi blow moulding dengan temperatur 190 - 205 °C dan tekanan 7 bar. Melt.flow index resin HDPE yang digunakan adalah 0.8931 g/10 menit and density 0. 952 g/cm'. Hasil percobaan yang diperoleh yaitu tebal optimum 3, 16 mm.

Abstract

Dangerous goods should be packaged in good quality of packaging which should be constructed and closed to prevent any leakage which might be caused under normal conditions during transportation. Corrugated .fibreboard boxes which used as secondary packaging, should be adequately strong and water - resistant. The packaging should conform with design type and completely tested in accordance with the requirements of the standard.

Abstract

Corrugated boxes as a transport packaging can decrease the damage of the contains during transportation. The transport packaging for fresh fruit has to be provided by ventilation. However the percentage of the ventilation candecrease the physical properties/the strength of the corrugated boxes it self. Experiment has been carried out to determine the percentage of the ventilation of the corrugated boxes needed for fruit of manggistan. The type of corrugated boxes is Regular Slotted Container (RSC) with inner dimension 300 x 180 x 110 mm and 2, 5 kg by weight. The transport simulation test showed that the optimum percentage of the ventilation is 5 % with the self live of 8 days.

Abstract

Corrugated boxes as a transport packaging can reduce the damage of the contents during transportation. The packaging should conform with the design type and should be completely tested in accordance with the requirements of the UN Standard. Experiment has been carried out to determine the specification of fibreboard sheet which is used for corrugated boxes for group II dangerous goods. The type of corrugated boxes is Regular Slotted Container (RSC) with inner dimension 457 x 314 x 290 mm and 20 kg by weight.The transport: simulation test of corrugated boxes showed that the optimum physical properties of fibreboard were double wall, flute CIB , total gramage 850 g!nl , burshting strenght 12, 12 kg[/ cm2 and compression strength 4,39 kN/m.
