Abstract

This study aims to describe the improvement of cognitive learning outcomes and students' responses to the application of the monopoly media-assisted TGT cooperative model on solar system materials. The research method used is pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest design. This research was conducted at Pamekasan City Junior High School, with 30 research subjects. The data collection technique uses the test method and response questionnaire, with the instruments used being test question sheets and student response questionnaires. The analysis techniques used are N-Gain analysis for improving students' cognitive learning outcomes and quantitative descriptive analysis for student responses. The results of the study show that the TGT cooperative model assisted by monopoly media can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes, as evidenced by the overall average N-Gain score of 0.73 in the high category, and get an average very positive response from students with a percentage of 83%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas penggunaan media kartu kuartet untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian pre-experimental design menggunakan rancangan one group pretest posttest design. Subjek penelitian yang terlibat sebanyak 31 siswa di salah satu kelas SMP di Surabaya. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes tulis hasil belajar. Data yang sudah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan N-Gain dengan rumus gain score. Hasil analisis N-Gain siswa memperoleh skor tinggi, skor sedang, dan skor rendah. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media kartu efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Environmental literacy in Indonesia, cumulatively, still needs improvement. Efforts to enhance literacy can be made using engaging and educational media, such as animation. This research aims to describe the improvement of students' environmental literacy after the use of animated media. This type of research is pre-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques used environmental literacy instruments and student responses. Data analysis techniques employed n-gain analysis and paired t-tests. The research findings are: (1) there was an increase in students' environmental literacy as evidenced by a low-criterion gain score; (2) there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Based on the research, it is concluded that the use of animation is capable of improving environmental literacy. This research has implications for students and teachers. Students develop curiosity about the material to be delivered by the teacher. Teachers can also creatively incorporate animation into the material or other learning stages. Based on the research findings, suggestions are offered to teachers to utilize animation as a learning medium, to future researchers to increase the intensity of learning to obtain more robust data, and to students to be aware of the importance of protecting the environment.

Abstract

Argumentation is a core component of critical thinking, one of the essential 21st-century skills. However, exploring this skill remains a challenge, often due to limitations in the available assessment methods. This study aims to offer a solution by utilizing the think-aloud protocol to explore and better understand the argumentation skills of Pre-Service Science Teachers (PSTs). A total of 30 PSTs from a state university in Indonesia participated in the research. Data collection and analysis through the think-aloud protocol were conducted in several stages: procedural briefing, implementation, coding and video analysis, and data interpretation. The findings revealed that the think-aloud protocol was effective in providing deeper insights into argumentation skills and yielded more detailed and accurate data across five key components: claims, evidence, reasoning, counterarguments, and rebuttals. On average, the PSTs demonstrated beginner-level argumentation skills, with the strongest performance in the claim component and weaker results in supporting aspects. Specifically, 5 participants were categorized as proficient, 9 as advanced, 6 as intermediate, and 10 as beginners. These results highlight the need for more effective learning strategies that provide PSTs with greater opportunities to practice constructing and critiquing arguments.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the impact of applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach to improve the collaboration skills and learning outcomes of grade VII-A students at Labschool Junior High School 2 of the State University of Surabaya on the topic of human reproductive systems. The method used is qualitative descriptive, where the researcher describes the students’ collaboration skills and learning outcomes. Students’ collaboration skills increased by 4%, from an average of 83% in cycle I to 87% in cycle II. Peer assessment of collaboration increased by 10%, from 73% in cycle I to 83% in cycle II. Student learning outcomes showed an increase, with the completion criteria rising from 58% in cycle I to 77% in cycle II. These findings demonstrate that the PBL learning model and the TaRL approach are effective in enhancing collaboration skills and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Hasil belajar merupakan sesuatu yang penting sebagai tolok ukur perubahan siswa setelah pembelajaran yang mencakup pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan. Namun, hasil belajar siswa masih tergolong rendah karena kurangnya kemampuan membangun pengetahuan sendiri dan rendahnya semangat belajar akibat metode pembelajaran yang masih konvensional. Penggunaan model pembelajaran yang tepat, seperti discovery learning, dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dengan mendorong keaktifan siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil belajar kognitif siswa terhadap penerapan model discovery learning pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest pada siswa kelas VII-A SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar yang dibuktikan dengan hasil perhitungan N-Gain sebesar 0,45 dengan kategori “Sedang” dan juga perbedaan yang signifikan antara pretest dan posttest dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000, di mana nilai 0,000 < 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model discovery learning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup.
