Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze students' learning difficulties in independent learning. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. An example of this research is SMA Class VIII-A. Dharma Kartini Simahi has 28 students. Purposive sampling method. The data collected is in the form of a 3-point assessment tool with specific questions about students' ability to follow the Polya heuristic steps. Methods of data analysis include data management through objective definitions and qualitative analysis of student achievement test results. The learning barriers found in this study are ontogenic barriers (conceptual errors), epistemological barriers (practical problems) and educational barriers (teaching problems). The results showed that 43% of students were able to explain the problem and the lowest score in solving the problem was 14% of the total.

Abstract

The aim of the investigation is to create practical and efficient mathematics learning media for classroom use using animaker-animated videos. The ADDIE model, comprising five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, was employed to carry out the Research and Development (R&D) method. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Margaasih, with ten ninth-grade students involved in a small-scale trial and 36 ninth-grade students in a large-scale trial. The validators were media experts, material experts, and math teachers. Microsoft Excel was utilized to assess the average response of students based on a feedback questionnaire. The outcomes revealed that the product was in line with the ADDIE research method, with a product feasibility of 84% for media experts, 65% for material experts, and 77% for teachers in the small-scale trial, and 96% for media experts, 87% for material experts, and 94% for teachers in the large-scale trial, indicating that it is highly feasible. The validated products were then tested on students through small and large-scale trials, with 87% showing very practical criteria. Therefore, animaker-animated video learning media on statistics material is both feasible and practical for use as a tool for learning mathematics.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the mathematical communication abilities of junior high school students in grade VIII.. In this study, a descriptive qualitative research type was used. The subject are 25 students in class VIII at SMP Negeri 36 Bandung, 13 of whom are female and 12 of whom are male.. The data collection technique is 3 questions in the form of descriptions, each of which represents an indicator of mathematical communication ability. The data processing technique is to analyze the mathematical communication ability of straight line equations in terms of gender in each indicator. Based on the results of the analysis, it was obtained that the average score of male students was 40.0% and that of female students was 60.0% in straight line equation material. So with that difference, it can be said that the mathematical communication ability of female students is higher than that of male students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui serta menganalisis kesulitan matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika terutama pada materi segitiga dan segiempat. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII SMP di Bandung. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes tulis berupa esai yang berjumlah 5 soal. Penelitian ini menerapkan metode analisis deskriptif, agar dapat mengetahui kesalahan dan kekeliruan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal. Pengolahan data dihitung kedalam bentuk rata-rata skor siswa yang diperoleh dengan analisis berdasarkan tahapan Van Hiele. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa ketercapaian siswa dalam memecahkan soal materi segiempat dan segitiga berdasarkan tahapan berpikir Van Hiele terbanyak berada pada tahap 1 (analisis) sebesar 87,87%. Ketercapaian berpikir pada tahapan Van Hiele yang baik baru mencapai tahapan visualisasi (tahap 0) sebesar 12,12%. Pada tahap 2 (deduksi informal) dan tahap 3 (deduksi) siswa belum mampu mencapai tahapan tersebut. Dengan demikian dapat dilihat bahwa tingkat pemahaman siswa terhadap materi segiempat dan segitiga masih tergolong rendah sehingga terdapat kesulitan dan kendala bagi siswa dalam mengerjakan soal pada materi segiempat dan segitiga berdasarkan tahapan Van Hiele. Kata kunci: kesulitan siswa, segiempat dan segitiga, tahap berpikir Van Hiele. ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to analyze student’s mathematical difficulties in solving mathematics problems, especially in quadrilateral and triangular material. The subject of this study were students of class VIII of Junior high school in Bandung. The instrument used were written tests in the form of essays consists of 5 questions. This research method uses descriptive analysis of students mistakes in solving problems. The data is analysis based on Van Hiele theory. The results of this study stated that the students' achievement in solving rectangular and triangle material problems based on Van Hiele's thinking stage was mostly in stage 1 (analysis) of 87.87%. The achievement of Van Hiele's good thinking stages has only reached the visualization stage (stage 0) of 12.12%. For stage 2 (informal deduction) and stage 3 (deduction) no student has been able to reach that stage. Thus it can be seen that the level of student understanding of rectangular and triangular material is still relatively low so that there is difficulty in solving students' problems on rectangular and triangular material based on Van Hiele's thinking stages. Abstract

This study aims to further examine learning obstacles: MTs.class VIII students in solving arithmetic sequence and series material problems based on the cognitive level of HOTS (High-Order Thinking Skills) with the aim of analyzing and describing the location of errors experienced by students in completing material problems in the Rows and Arithmetic Series material. In this study, the method used was descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were MTs. class VIII students in Cikembang, Bandung Regency for the 2021-2022 academic year. The data collection technique was carried out by providing 5 questions of the description test with the criteria of the HOTS cognitive level. Based on the results of the analysis, it is stated that there are some difficulties for students when solving arithmetic rows and series questions on the indicator of question number 2 is relatively high, namely the indicator Making patterns and nth tribes of an arithmetic series with an error percentage of 85%. Furthermore, question number 4 shows the indicator Solving contextual problems related to the nth term of the arithmetic sequence with an error percentage of 75%.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of quadrilateral material in mathematics lessons, especially for students as an educational subject in everyday life, while the aim is to analyze students’ mathematical creative thinking abilities in solving quadrilateral problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The population in this study were all seventh-grade junior high school students in the city of Bandung whose sample was randomly selected at Paulus Middle School as many as 32 people. Students can be classified based on their creative thinking abilities based on (1) the Ability creative thinking of students with the high category is fulfilling 3 indicators of creative thinking namely fluency, flexibility, and novelty, so students with the high category is said to be creative. (2) Students' ability to think creatively with the medium category is fulfilling 2 indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency and flexibility, so students in the medium category are said to be not creative. (3) The creative thinking ability of students in the low category is fulfilling 1 indicators of creative thinking are fluency and students in the moderate category said students who are not creative. Data is obtained by testing creative thinking test questions as many as 4 questions that contain indicators. The results showed that there were 2 people with high ability, 4 people with moderate ability, and 26 people with low ability with various errors including conceptual errors, principal errors, and data operation errors. Based on this, it can be concluded that the creative thinking skills of junior high school students are still relatively low.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menelaah bagaimana hubungan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan self-esteem siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran yang menggunakan pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning (CTL). Adapun metode dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen, dimana diambil dua kelas dengan pembelajaran berbeda yakni kelas pertama menggunakan pembelajaran biasa dan kelas kedua menggunakan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan CTL. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa salah satu SMP di Kota Cimahi dengan sampel 2 kelas. Adapun materi yang diteliti adalah materi segiempat. Ke dua kelas diberikan pretes dan angket untuk mengetahui pengetahuan  awal siswa. Kemudian pada kelas eksperimen diberikan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan CTL sedangkan pada kelas kontrol diberikan pembelajaran biasa. Selanjutnya kedua kelas diberikan postes dan angket akhir, dimana data tersebut yang akan diolah dan dianalis korelasinya menggunakan Product Moment Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan self-esteem siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran matematika, semakin tinggi kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa maka semakin tinggi pula self-esteem yang dimiliki oleh siswa SMP.Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Matematis, Self-Esteem, Pendekatan Contextual Teaching And Learning, Segiempat Abstract. The purpose of this study is to examine how the correlation between students' mathematical communication ability with self-esteem of junior high school students in learning using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. The method in this research is quasi experimental, which is taken two classes with different learning that the first class is using usual  learning and second ones  is  learning with CTL approach. The population of this study is all the students of seventh grade of junior high school in Cimahi with a sample of 2 classes. Both classes are given pretest and questionnaire to know the students' prior knowledge. Then in the experimental class is given learning by using CTL approach while in the control class is given usual learning. Furthermore, both classes are given posttest and final questionnaire, where the data will be processed and analyzed by using the Product Moment Pearson correlation. The results showed a significant relationship between the ability of mathematical communication and self-esteem of the students of  junior high school  in learning mathematics.Keywords: Mathematical Communication, Self-Esteem, Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach, Rectangular.
