Abstract

Menulis merupakan mata kuliah utama dalam jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris.Banyak hal yang mempengaruhi kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menulis. Diantaranya adalah Emotional Quotient (EQ) dan penguasaan tata bahasa. Penulis melakukan penelitian yang berbentuk penelitian korelasional. Tiga hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh Emotional Quotient (EQ) terhadap kemampuan menulissiswa, penguasaan tata bahasa siswa terhadap kemampuan menulis mereka, dan pengaruh Emotional Quotient (EQ) dan penguasaan tata bahasa siswa terhadap kemampuan menulis mereka. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh Emotional Quotient (EQ) dan penguasaan tata bahasa siswa terhadap kemampuan menulis mereka dari Jurusan Bahasa Inggris STAI Hubbulwathan Duri pada tahun akademik 2015/2016. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh adalah EQ siswa danpenguasaan tata bahasa siswa memiliki kontribusi yang kuat untuk kemampuan menulis mereka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan cluster connection terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa pada siswa kelas 8 MTs Darul Ihsan Duri. Behubungan dengan objek penelitian, peneliti menggunakan metode eksperimen. Model penelitiannya adalah kelompok pretest--post test untuk kelas control dan eksperimen. Penelitian ini diadakan pada MTs Darul Ihsan Duri pada tahun akademik 2015/2016. Populasi penelitian ini adalah kelas 8 MTs Darul Ihsan Duri pada tahun akademik 2015/2016. Total populasi penelitian adalah 62 siswa. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII.A sebagai kelas kontrol, dan VIII.B sebagai kelas eksperimen. Kelas VIII.A terdiri atas 31 siswa. Kelas VIII.B terdiri atas 31 siswa. Dalam menganalisis data peneliti menggunakan Independent Sample T-Test. T-Test digunakan untuk mengetahui apakah teknik cluster connection effektif terhadap penguasaaan kosakata siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penggunaan teknik cluster connection efektif terhadap penguasaaan kosakata siswa. Berdasarkan perhitungan statistic dalam menganalisis data peneliti memberikan tafsiran skor postest pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dari perhitungan, t-test adalah 2.627 dan t-table adalah 2.00. karena nilai t-test (2.627) lebih tinggi dari pada t-table (2.00). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa alternative hipotesis (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis null (Ho) ditolak. Ini berarti pengajaran kosakata dengan teknik cluster connection adalah efektif. This study aimed to know The Effectiveness of Using Cluster Connection Towards The Students’ VocabularyMastery at The Eighth Graders at MTs Darul Ihsan Duri. Related to the object of the research, the researcher used experimental method. The design of the research was control and experiment group; pretest – posttest design. The research was conducted at MTs. Daru lIhsan Duri in the academic year 2015/2016. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of MTs Darul Ihsan Duri. The total population was 62 students. The sample of the research was class VIII.A as control class and class VIII.B as experimental class. Class VIII.A consisted of 31 students. Class VIII.B consisted of 31 students. In analyzing the research data, the researcher used Independent sampleT-Test. T-Test was used to know whether cluster connection technique is effective toward the students’ vocabulary mastery. The result of the research showed that using cluster connection technique was effective toward the students’ vocabulary mastery. Based on statistical calculation in data analysis, the researcher gave interpretation of posttest score in experiment class and the control class. From the calculation, t-test value was 2.627 and t-table was 2.00. Because t-test value (2.627) was higher than t-table (2.00), it could be concluded that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that teaching vocabulary by using cluster connection is effective.

Abstract

This study aimed to know the students’ decoding ability in comprehending reading text. Related to the object of the research, the researcher used the descriptive method by using quantitative approach. The research was conducted at the fourth semester of English Program. The population of this research was the all students of fourth semester of English program at STAI Hubbulwathan Duri in academic year 2017/2018.The sample of the research was 13 students. In analyzing the research data, the researcher used SPSS. The data were taken from the students’ decoding ability in comprehending reading text is test score. Based on statistical calculation in data analysis, the researcher interpreted test score. From the calculation, the result mean values that researcher obtained through analyzing the data that has been collected from sixth components of decoding ability in comprehending reading text, they are previewing, reading for main idea, using context for vocabulary, scanning for detail, making inference and locating reference is around “76.73‖ and from that data, the researcher can conclude that the value is in ―Average‖ category.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to know The Effect of Using Cue Cards on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at Seventh Grade Students of SMP N 16 Mandau. Related to the object of the research, the researcher used Pre - experimental method. The design of the research used pre test/ post test design. The research was conducted at Seventh Grade students of SMP N 16 Mandau. The population of this research was the seventh grade students of SMP N 16 Mandau. The sample of the research was 30 students. In analyzing the research data, the researcher used Paired sample T-Test by using SPSS. The data were taken from students’ English achievement pre test and post test score. Based on statistical calculation in data analysis, the researcher gave interpretation of pre test and post test score. From the calculation, t obtained was 10.343, the level significance of 5% was 2.05, and the level of significance 1% was 2.76. it showed 2.0510.3432.76. It could be concluded that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It means that there was significant effect of using cue cards on students’ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade students of SMP N 16 Mandau.Key words: Cue cards, Vocabulary mastery

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan penggunaan boneka puppet sebagai media untuk meningkatkan kosakata anak. Mengajar anak-anak tidak sama dengan mengajar orang dewasa karena mereka memiliki karakteristik dan motivasi yang berbeda. Mereka juga harus memperhitungkan bahwa mengajar bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak berbeda dari orang dewasa. Para guru harus mengetahui karakteristik peserta didik nya. Tambahannya, mereka perlu mempersiapkan teknik yang baik dan bahan yang cocok untuk mendapatkan target pengajaran bahasa. Boneka puppet dapat memberikan unsur kegembiraan kepada peserta didik. Dengan memasukkan unsur-unsur lucu, boneka  puppet dimaksudkan untuk  menarik perhatian anak-anak. Penggunaan boneka puppet dapat memotivasi anak-anak agar lebih tertarik dalam  pembelajaran kosa kata, dan menyediakan teknik yang lebih baik untuk pengajaran kosa kata. Penggunaan boneka puppet bisa menjadi cara alternatif untuk mengajarkan kosakata, khususnya untuk meningkatkan kosakata anak. Para guru sebaiknya  berkonsentrasi bahwa pengajaran kosakata adalah sesuatu yang baru dan berbeda dari bahasa asli siswa.

Abstract

Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan Big-Book dapat meningkatkan kemampuan tata bahasa menjadi lebih baik dalam menulis; dalam hal konten, organisasi, tata bahasa, kosa kata, dan mekanika. Siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan Big-Book memiliki menulis yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajar tanpa menggunakan Big-Book . Dengan kata lain, Big-Book dapat membantu siswa dalam menulis. Dengan menggunakan Big Book dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menggunakan tata bahasa yang baik dan kemampuan menulis mereka.
