Abstract

The objective of researchis to analyze affixation in The Script song lyric. The main purpose of this research is to know how affixation process happens in The Script song lyric “Hall of Fame”. The method used in this research isdescriptive qualitative method. The data used the text script oflyric. It will be an object to know how affixation process happens and what the influencescauses by affixation itself. The result of this analysis shows that affixation process dividedintwo types depends on affixes itself.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know the function of  the usage of slang, especially slang used by the characters of Step Up 2 The Streets movie. The method of this research used descriptive qualitative method, the data were collected through observation of the movie, analysis of slang in the dialogue, and analysis sociological properties of slang based on the dialogues. Defining the sociological properties of slang and analyzing the most frequent of properties used are taken from the theory of Mattiello. Analyzing the purposes of using slang in a community is taken from the theory of  Victor and Dalzel. The result of this research are: (1) From 31 sociological properties are known, only 14 properties used in the movie, following: ‘Color’, ‘Efficiency’, ‘Group-Restriction’, ‘Informality’, ‘Subject-Restriction’, ‘Orality’,  ‘Musicality’,  ‘Aggressiveness’, ‘Unconventionality’, ‘Offenciveness’  ‘Desire to Impress’, ’Hybridism’, ‘Localism’, ‘Secrecy’, (2) The most frequent of sociological properties is ‘colour’, (3) The purposes of using slang are: to enrich the language, to induce friendliness or intimacy, to prove that someone did not belong to a certain society, and to be secret.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know the social relationships through Sorokin's theory. This research was done through a film titled Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them which was released in 2016. The data were taken from the utterances of the characters’ dialogue through documentation, the process of watching, and post watching the film. The method of research used a qualitative descriptive method. The results of the study indicated that: (1.) the types of social relationships are social interaction phenomena and non-social interaction phenomena, (2.) From the seven data about a social relationship, three data are about social interaction phenomena:  by human in friendship, by human in ethnicity, and social interaction phenomenon in helping the economy, (3.) using Tsapeli's theory, the sub-chapters of the causes and effects are also successfully identified.
