Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of key tourism sector indicators on Regional Original Revenue (PAD) in Central Java Province. The indicators examined include the number of domestic tourist trips, the number of tourist visits and events, the number of hotels and accommodations, as well as the number of restaurants or eateries. A quantitative approach was employed using panel data methods, covering 35 regencies/cities in Central Java Province over a five-year period, resulting in a total of 175 observations. The Fixed Effects Model (FEM) was selected as the most suitable model based on the results of the Hausman test. The model estimation shows that the number of domestic tourist trips, the number of tourist visits and events, and the number of hotels and accommodations have a positive and significant effect on increasing PAD. In contrast, the number of restaurants or eateries does not show a statistically significant effect on PAD. These findings underscore the importance of the tourism sector in enhancing regional fiscal revenue. Optimizing investment and development planning in the tourism sector is expected to strengthen the structure of regional income and support sustainable development agendas at the local level. This study provides empirical contributions by integrating various tourism indicators through a panel data approach to identify the main determinants of PAD at the regency/city level. The findings enrich the body of literature on regional development economics, particularly in data-driven tourism potential management.

Abstract

era of rapid advancements in science, technology, and cultural dynamics, significant shifts have occurred in various aspects of human life, such as ideology, society, economy, arts, and morals. These changes have influenced the values within society, with materialism and hedonism becoming more prevalent. While such value changes can bring positive outcomes, they also lead to negative behaviors, including criminal actions. The increasing criminal activity in Indonesia has become a serious concern, with high crime rates that demand attention from both the government and law enforcement agencies. This study aims to analyze the relationship between crime and economic conditions across 34 provinces in Indonesia, focusing on the impact of economic components such as consumption patterns, unemployment, the quality of human resources (measured through education), and population density on crime rates in Indonesia from 2018 to 2022. The findings of the study indicate that unemployment, low human resource quality reflected in education levels, and population density are significant factors influencing crime rates in Indonesia. Economically, unemployment and poor educational quality are the primary drivers of criminal behavior. Additionally, high population density exacerbates the situation, as densely populated areas tend to experience social tension and conflicts that can trigger criminal acts. Therefore, to reduce crime rates, coordinated efforts are required, including improving educational quality, providing more job opportunities, managing population density, and enhancing the economic well-being of society. This study highlights the importance of government and related institutions in creating policies to address the economic factors contributing to crime, in order to build a safer and more prosperous society.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the influence of socio-economic factors on white-collar crime in Indonesia, data taken from 34 provinces during 2017–2023. Using quantitative data taken from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia. This study uses quantitative analysis through panel data regression, where the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was selected as the best method after testing with the Chow and Hausman tests. The study findings indicate three main results: first, there is a significant negative relationship between the unemployment rate and white-collar crime; second, a significant positive relationship was found between GRDP per capita and the white-collar crime rate; third, the average length of schooling and the Gini ratio were found to be insignificant with white-collar crime. The findings illustrate that increased economic activity can increase the chances of white-collar crime, while high unemployment actually reduces access to strategic positions that allow for such crimes. The implications of these results emphasize the importance of good supervision and governance in preventing misuse of economic resources along with economic growth.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of women's empowerment on female labor force participation in ASEAN countries. Women's empowerment is measured through variables such as education, health, wages, parliamentary representation, fertility rates, and maternal mortality rates.Method: This research employs a panel data approach by applying the Random Effects Model (REM) across 10 ASEAN member countries. Socio-economic and demographic indicators are integrated to assess the extent to which these variables influence female labor force participation.Result: Research findings indicate that education, access to healthcare services, and low maternal mortality rates positively contribute to increasing women's labor force participation. Conversely, factors such as low wage levels, limited female representation in parliament, and high fertility rates serve as barriers.Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development: This study identifies key factors influencing female labor force participation and provides strategic recommendations for policymakers in the ASEAN region. Improving women's access to education and healthcare services is expected to foster inclusive development, reduce gender disparities, and strengthen the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of gender equality and decent work.Originality/Value: This study makes a novel contribution by incorporating rarely discussed variables such as maternal mortality rates and fertility levels in a region characterized by diverse socio-economic conditions. It offers deeper insights into the driving forces behind female labor force participation in ASEAN countries.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of early marriage among women, female fertility rates, women’s health, women’s education, and women’s representation in parliament on the female labor force participation rate in Indonesia. A quantitative approach is employed using panel data covering 34 provinces over the 2018–2024 period. The analysis is conducted using a Fixed Effects (FE) model, selected based on the results of the Chow test and the Hausman test. The findings indicate that the female fertility rate has a negative effect on the female labor force participation rate, while women’s health has a positive effect. Early marriage among women, women’s education level, and women’s representation in parliament do not show statistically significant effects. These results suggest that biological and health-related factors play a more substantial role than social and political factors in influencing women’s economic participation. The implications of this study underscore the importance of public policies focused on improving access to reproductive health services and enhancing the overall quality of women’s health in order to promote sustained and inclusive increases in female labor force participation.
