Abstract

Terumbu karang merupakan salah satu ekosistem khas tropik yang secara ekologi paling produktif, serta memiliki peranan penting terhadap perubahan lingkungannya sendiri maupun global. Sebagai ekosistem perairan yang memiliki produktifitas tinggi bersama ekosistem hutan bakau dan padang lamun, terumbu karang merupakan penyedia nutrien, serta merupakan habitat dari berbagai jenis organisme laut.Disamping memiliki fungsi fisik untuk melindungi pantai dari kikisan ombak dan gelombang, terumbu karang juga memiliki struktur fisik komunitas yang bervariasi, banyaknya celah dan lubang, wilayah alga dan adanya zonasi terumbu karang memberikan relung/ruang, tempat hidup, mencari makan dan bereproduksi bagi berbagai jenis ikan dan biota lain yang berasosiasi dengannya, sehingga kompleksitas ekosistem ini memiliki panorama alam yang sangat indah.Dari fungsi ekonomi terumbu karang juga merupakan penghasil devisa dari sektor pariwisata dan perikanan. Hasil perikanan dari peraiaran terumbu karang berkisar antara 2,5 – 5 ton/km/tahun, dengan potensi perikanan karang seluruhnya mencapai 2,7 juta metrik ton/tahun (White, 1983), atau memiliki nilai manfaat dari sektor perikanan  sebesar US$ 4.464,44/ha/tahun (Kusumastanto, et.al., 1998), ini belum termasuk nilai pariwisata, Ilmu pengetahuan, biodiversiti dan sebagainya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui antagonism bakteri Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp terhadap Vibrio Parahaemolyticus secara in vitro. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen. Uji antagonism dilakukan dengan dua metode yaitu uji gores silang (streaking method) dan uji dalam mikrokosom.Bakteri Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp diisolasi dari produk Super NB (produksi Marindo Lab, Surabaya) sedangkan Vibrio Parahaemolyticus diperoleh dalam bentuk isolate murni yang didatangkan dari Balai Budidaya Air Payau (BBAP) Jepara yang diisolasi dari udang windu yang terserang penyakit vibriosis. Perlakuan yang diberikan dalam mikrokosom adalah Bacillus  sp (kontrol), sedangkan konsentrasi awal V. Parahaemolyticus pada masing-masing perlakuan adalah 104 sel/ml. hal yang sama juga dilakukan pada Pseudomonas  sp.Hasil uji antagonis Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp pada gores silang tidak memberikan hambatan yang berarti terhadap pertumbuhan V. Parahaemolyticus (tidak terlihat zona hambat yang jelas). Pada antagonism dalam mikrokosom Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp mampu menghambat V. Parahaemolyticus secara nyata. Dari hasil uji signifikan (uji-t) semua perlakuan pada antagonism Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp terhadap V. Parahaemolyticus menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda nyata dengan control. Pada penelitian ini perlakuan Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp 106 sel/ml memberikan daya hambat paling besar terhadap V.parahaemolyticus (berbeda sangat nyata dengan Bacillus  sp dan Pseudomonas  sp 102 dan 104 sel/ml) pada tingkat kepercayaan 99% (α = 0,01).

Abstract

Konsumsi sayuran setiap hari harus dilakukan karena sayuran sangat penting bagi tubuh manusia. Oleh karenanya diperlukan usaha-usaha dalam mendapatkan sayuran yang sehat dengan harga murah. Salah satu usaha yang sangat mungkin dilakukan masyarakat adalah dengan menanam sendiri di pekarangan rumah. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini untuk menumbuhkembangkan minat dan  motivasi masyarakat untuk dapat menanam sayuran secara mandiri di rumah sehingga dapat mengurangi pengeluaran belanja dan dapat mewujudkan kemandirian pangan keluarga, khususnya dalam pemenuhan nutrisi sayuran. Pekarangan rumah dapat dimanfaatkan untuk bertanam sayuran yang bisa dikonsumsi sehari-hari. Disamping itu, sampah rumah tangga juga bisa diolah menjadi pupuk yang dapat menunjang pertumbuhan sayuran. Dengan demikian, masyarakat dapat menghemat pengeluaran belanja karena sayuran yang dikonsumsi merupakan tanaman pekarangan sendiri. Dari kegiatan tersebut dapat disarankan supaya warga lebih antusias dalam memanfaatkan pekarangan rumahnya menjadi lahan yang menghasilkan, baik untuk konsumsi sendiri atau bahkan dapat dipasarkan.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah melakukan pendampingan dan penataan pearsipan informasi kartu tanda penduduk (KTP) dan  Kartu Keluarga (KK) di kantor Kelurahan Pulau Abang agar terwujud budaya tertib arsip sesuai dengan yang tercantum dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 43 Pasal 1 dan Ayat 2 Tahun 2009 Tentang Kearsipan. Lokasi kegiatan ini adalah kelurahan Pulau Abang yang berpenduduk 478 kartu keluarga yang meliputi 3 wilayah kampung yang berpenduduk yaitu Pulau Abang Kecil yang memiliki sekitar 260 kartu keluarga, Air Saga yang memiliki 120 kartu keluarga dan Pulau Petong dengan 98 kartu keluarga. Adapun metode yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan ini adalah dengan menggunakan metode observasi, interview dan studi pustaka melalui penerapan pendekatan pengarsipan secara abjad. Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama tiga hari yakni mulai tanggal 5 sampai dengan 7 Agustus 2019. Adapun hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah; tersususunnya arsip KTP dan KK di kantor Kelurahan Pulau Abang berdasarkan abjad nama kepala keluarga pada setiap RT di wilayah kampung di kelurahan Pulau Abang. Adapun masing-masing KTP disatukan atau difilekan pada KK masing-masing. Kondisi seperti sangat membantu pemerintahan kelurahan Pulau Abang dalam melaksanakan tugas pokoknya khususnya dalam pencatatatan kependudukan secara efisien dan efektif.

Abstract

Pemulihan ekosistem terumbu karang dipandang perlu dilakukan pada kawasan yang telah mengalami degradasi. Kegiatan rehabilitasi ekosistem terumbu karangdapat dilakukan dengan mengembangkan kemampuan masyarakat dan rehabilitasi habitat dengan sentuhan manajemen dan teknologi. Salah satu kegiatan untuk memulihkan habitat alami adalah dengan melakukan transplantasi karang. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melakukan trasnplantasi karang dan pembuatan meja semai blok beton untuk perbaikan ekosistem terumbu karang serta mendorong pemanfaatan ramah lingkungan dan pelestarian sumberdaya terumbu karang serta menumbuh kembangkan ekonomi masyarakat pesisir di lokasi yang diusulkan, sekaligus dapat digunakan sebagai daya tarik wisatawan. Telah dilakukan pelatihan transplantasi karang kepada masyarakat Pulau Sarang, mahasiswa dan pelajar.  Telah dipasang 40 maja blok beton untuk penyemaian/penanaman karang trasplantasi. Sudah tertanam stek karang sebanyak 25-30 stek karang pada setiap unit meja semai dengan ukuran meja 1x1 meter. Adanya kegiatan transplantasi akan dapat mempercepat tingkat pemulihan ekosistem terumbu karang yang rusak. Dengan membaiknya kondisi terumbu karang dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat yang mengelolanya, dari segi wisata bahari maupun meningkatan hasil tangkapan nelayan seiring membaiknya habitat alami sebagai penopang keberlangsungan sumberdaya perikanan.

Abstract

A series of counseling and discussion activities with the community in Kampung Baru Sentajo, Sentajo Raya District, Kuantan Singingi Regency were carried out with the purpose to increase knowledge, understanding of environmental sustainability and community empowerment towards efforts to prevent river pollution by community activities themselves. This counseling activity was attended by 30 participants with occupational backgrounds such as teachers, civil servants, farmers, journalists, housewives, and fishermen. Meanwhile, their education level starts from elementary school level to bachelor degree. Analysis of measuring activity achievement used descriptive analysis and descriptive statistical calculations. The descriptive statistical calculation uses the ratio of participants to items taken with the total extension participants who attend as a community in Kampung Baru Sentajo, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The analysis results are presented in the form of a pie graph. The results of the evaluation of the activities showed that 89.9% of the people represented by the counseling participants who attended stated that the existence of rivers is very important for life. Meanwhile, another 11.1%, the existence of the river is important for themselves and for the livelihood of many people. As many as 66.7% of them realized that the river in their environment had changed greatly and 33.3% the condition of the river had changed. As much as 55.6% of all participants who attended this counseling activity, the material presented were useful. While 38.9% is very useful. The interesting thing was that there were 5.6% who stated that extension activities were useless. Even though there were 5.6% of participants who took part in the counseling activities provided were useless, all participants of the event had interesting (50%) and very interesting (50%) content. The hope of the participants is that this counseling can be carried out in every village in Kuantan Singingi Regency, especially in villages that are central to unlicensed gold mining (PETI) by involving all village officials. In addition, the participants also expect to get material on practical ways to reduce pollution by liquid waste.

Abstract

Rantau Baru Village is one village in the Pengkalan Kerinci sub-district, Pelalawan Regency. The village of Rantau Baru is on the coast of the Kampar River, surrounded by swamp and peat forest areas, so the majority of the population work as traditional fishermen. The income level of traditional fishing communities fluctuates greatly depending on the fishing season. Conditions The difference in the fishing season will affect the level of welfare. One effort that can be done provides other knowledge supplies to the community to use it as a side livelihood. One form of skill that may be given is the cultivation of natural eels because it is in line with the profession of the people of Rantau Baru Village as traditional fishermen. This training was attended by people from various occupational backgrounds, such as fishermen, laborers, entrepreneurs, temporary employees, and farmers. However, the participants who participated in the training were dominated by work as fishermen. The material provided in this training is the biology and behavior of eels by 28%, cultivation techniques by 27%, feeding techniques to eels by 27%, and post-harvest and marketing by 18%. After the training activities were given, there was an increase in participants' knowledge, excellent (69%) and sufficient (16%). The results indicate the success of participants in absorbing the material provided by the resource persons. The success in this training was also indicated by the evaluation results of 69.23% of participants stating that they understood well and 30.77% of participants stated that they understood. The success of delivering the material cannot be separated from the presentation of exciting material from the resource persons. The questionnaire filled out by the participants stated that 69.23% of participants stated that the delivery of the material was engaging, and 30.77% of the total participants stated that the delivery of the material was exciting. This eel cultivation training was also very beneficial for the participants, namely 84.62% of the total participants stated this training was beneficial. While 15.38% said, this training was valuable.

Abstract

The Research have done in mangrove area Telaga Punggur N :1 ° 2'39.33, E ;104 ° 7'8.83, had located near from the domestic waste dumpsite and processing (TPA) of Batam City and Sungai Bongkok Tanjung Piayu distric of  Batam City, Indonesia,  N; 1° 1'48.71, E; 104° 5'4.86 that used as comparison habitat. This research started from September to November 2015, have purpose to compare the population density and the difference of morphometrics of T. telescopium at two different observation sites. The sampling point determined by method of random sampling. The sample has taken by plot measurement 10x10 m and the sub plot measurement 1x1 m placed in 5 pieces plot measurement 10x10 m.The research show that there are differences significant in population density of  T. telescopium between the rich nutrition that show on station 1 Telaga Punggur to the low nutrition in the station 2 Sungai Bongkok. Nutrition organic material that contained in the leachate originating from runoff domestic waste dumpsite and processed allegedly giving effect to the high population of T. Telescopium. Differences heavy metal content was significantly correlated with morphometric (length and diameter) of T. Telescopium. This research shows the higher heavy metal content in Telaga Punggur station than into the Sungai Bongkok station, described T. telescopium size or morphometric (diameter and length) are relatively small.

Abstract

Background: Vibriosis is currently still a major problem in marine aquaculture and is highly dependent on availability of antibacterial agents in its handling. Investigation of antibacterial potential of the coastal plants of Bidara Laut (Ximenia americana) has been carried out. Methods: Parts of the X. americana plant taken are Old Fruit, Young Fruit, Old Leaf, and Young Leaf. A total of ± 200 grams of each part of X. americana plant was taken to be extracted using maceration method. The antibacterial activity test was performed using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method on Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) media. Observations were made in time units, namely every 6 hours of incubation for 24 hours. Results: The tested extract of plant parts of X. americana showed an inhibition zone against the growth of V. alginolyticus and V. parahaemolyticus bacteria in each replication in all-time units of observation. Of the four types of extracts tested, old leaves showed strong category resistance to V. alginolyticus with the highest clear zone diameter of 16 mm (average 14.67 mm) at 6 hours incubation. Young leaves gave the highest of 18 mm (average 16.33 mm) against V. parahaemolyticus at 6 hours incubation. Conclusions: X. americana plants have potential for antibacterial against Vibriosis disease in aquaculture. The ability of power to be seen tended to decrease for all tests until the end of observation, but until the end of observation, the ability of extract inhibition of all parts of the plant was still in the moderate to strong category.

Abstract

Environmental pollution that occurs in Tanjungpinang City, cannot be separated from the pollution of the aquatic ecosystem. Water pollution is caused by the presence of waste from residential activities, shops, industry, and other activities that produce waste. Likewise, what happens in the waters of the Sungai Jang, the activities of settlements, shops, industry can cause water pollution in this area, so a study is needed to see the extent of environmental pollution. The indicator used to determine the level of water pollution is by looking at the saprobity index through the phytoplankton community. This research was conducted by dividing the research stations based on differences in activity, namely; station 1 (settlements), station 2 (mangroves), station 3 (shops, industry), station 4 (reclamation). The results showed that the composition of the phytoplankton species found in the waters of the Sungai Jang, Tanjungpinang consisted of 17 species which were classified into 5 divisions. Diatomae types have the most number of species among other divisions, and the most dominating. The dominance of phytoplankton from the class Bacillariophyceae (Diatomae) cannot be separated from the role of nutrients in the water. The average saprobic index value of -0.39 is classified as Moderately Polluted (Meso Saprobik). Pollution that occurs is a result of organic waste from existing activities, causing an increase in nutrients. From the results of measurements in the field, the nutrient content (nitrate and phosphate) in the waters of the Sungai Jang had exceeded the quality standard.
