Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the Case Study learning model on the subject of Motorcycle Engine Maintenance (PMSM) for class XI TSM 1 students at SMK Taman Karya Madya Pertambangan Kebumen. This research uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 35 students of class XI TSM 1. Data collection techniques used observation, written tests, and documentation. Data analysis used quantitative analysis based on test results in each cycle. The results showed that the application of the Case Study learning model successfully improved student learning outcomes. The average score increased from 68.57 in the pre-cycle stage to 74.71 in Cycle 1, and further increased to 81.57 in Cycle 2. Meanwhile, the percentage of students achieving the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM ≥ 80) increased from 20% in the pre-cycle to 40% in Cycle 1, and rose significantly to 82% in Cycle 2, exceeding the success indicator of ≥75%. These findings confirm that the Case Study learning model is effective in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of automatic transmission systems (CVT).

Abstract

This study aims to examine: (1) the partial effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on student learning outcomes; (2) the partial effect of students’ analytical ability on learning outcomes; (3) the simultaneous effect of PjBL and analytical ability on learning outcomes; and (4) the relationship between the PjBL model and students’ analytical ability in the conventional automotive body electrical trainer project. This research employed a quantitative method with a non-experimental ex post facto design. Subjects were all 35 Class XI TKRO students at SMK Taman Karya Madya Teknik Kebumen (total sampling). Data were collected via a PjBL implementation questionnaire, an analytical ability observation sheet, and a 25-item multiple-choice achievement test. Pearson Product Moment correlation and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis. Results showed that PjBL and analytical ability simultaneously exerted a very significant effect on learning outcomes (R² = 0.969; F = 492.514; p = 0.000). Analytically, students’ analytical ability significantly predicted learning outcomes (Beta = 0.894; p = 0.000), while the partial effect of PjBL was not significant (p = 0.554) due to severe multicollinearity (VIF = 23.935). A very strong and significant correlation existed between PjBL and analytical ability (r = 0.979; p = 0.000). PjBL implementation was rated positively by 94.3% of students, and the mean learning score was 78.63 (77.1% in good–very good category), exceeding the KKM threshold of 75.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the level of students’ understanding of the PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) system; and (2) the effect of PGM-FI system understanding on tune-up practical outcomes among Class XI TSM students at SMK Pancasila 1 Kutoarjo. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design was employed. The subjects were 30 Class XI TSM students in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected using a 40-item written test on PGM-FI understanding and a 5-component practical performance observation sheet. Instruments were validated using Pearson Product Moment correlation (r-table = 0.361; all items valid) and reliability-tested using Cronbach’s Alpha (α = 0.898) for the written test and Cohen’s Kappa (κ = 1.000) for the practical sheet. Prerequisite tests confirmed normality (K-S sig. = 0.110 > 0.05) and linearity (Deviation from Linearity sig. = 0.117 > 0.05). Results showed that PGM-FI understanding was in the high category (mean = 32.57; 81.43%), as was practical performance (mean = 80.67; high category). Simple linear regression and Pearson correlation confirmed a positive and significant effect of PGM-FI understanding on tune-up practical outcomes (r = 0.493; R² = 0.243; t = 3.002; sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), with PGM-FI understanding contributing 24.3% to the variation in practical outcomes. The remaining 75.7% is attributable to other factors such as practical experience, motivation, facilities, and individual student characteristics.

Abstract

This research aims to produce interactive learning media for the periodic maintenance competency at SMK Ma'arif 6 Ayah, assess the feasibility of interactive multimedia learning media for the periodic maintenance competency, and measure the improvement in student learning outcomes following the use of interactive multimedia learning media for the periodic maintenance competency. The development of the interactive learning media employed a Research and Development (R&D) research method. Small-scale field trials were conducted with 12 students, and large-scale field trials were conducted with 32 Grade XII students of the Light Vehicle Engineering study program at SMK Ma'arif 6 Ayah. The trial results fell within the very feasible category, with the following details: material expert evaluation yielded a score of 88.25% (very feasible); media expert evaluation yielded a score of 87.75% (very feasible); small-scale student trials yielded a score of 89% (very feasible); and large-scale student trials yielded a score of 89.75% (very feasible). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the interactive multimedia-based learning media for the periodic maintenance competency is very feasible for use as a learning medium and is effective in improving student learning outcomes. This medium can therefore serve as an alternative solution in automotive practical learning, particularly at SMK Ma'arif 6 Ayah, and may be adapted for other subjects requiring practice-based procedural understanding.
