Abstract

Now days, the integration of technology in the concept of learning is the trend in global education. The conceptual framework model is a general reference, and the only concept is Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge (TPACK). However, vocational education has knowledge of specific content, so adjusting conceptual models in professional learning is important to learn and offer. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the concept of TPACK into the concept of vocational education to improve the professionalism of vocational teachers in content knowledge. The author discusses the knowledge structure of vocational fields that are built based on work, content, technology, and the suitability of the learning approach. Based on the results of the article found a new construction in building knowledge in the field of vocational education with special expertise characteristics and shifting pedagogical concepts towards andragogy in learning concept. The results of the analysis recommend the TPACK concept transformed into the Technology, Andragogy, Work, and Content Knowledge (TAWOCK) concept in vocational learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the maturity level of teachers and vocational students. It also measured differences in the maturity level of teachers and vocational students in mastering the digital technology competence (DTC) in vocational education. Quantitative research used a design developed by Hoy and Adams. A total of 233 respondents came from public and private schools in vocational schools in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Data was collected using a Likert scale questionnaire (1-4). The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results on the maturity level of vocational teachers obtained a score of 13.16-23.68 in the "Low" category and for vocational students obtained a score of 12.98-22.12 in the "Low" category, and there was no significant difference. Teachers and students in vocational schools must have awareness in improving digital technology capabilities at the criticism technology level.

Abstract

The main competence of 21st century technical and vocational education and training (TVET) teachers is the ability to integrate technology into the learning process effectively. However, the concept of learning is now shifting to technological involvement, learning approaches, and needs in accordance with the curriculum of the world of work must be integrated to produce learning outcomes that are able to compete in obtaining work opportunities. The technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) model used in general learning needs to be assessed according to the context of innovation in the TVET learning field. The purpose of this study is to analyze the teaching and learning of TVET teachers who are professionals with the approach of Technology, Andragogy and Work towards Content Knowledge (CK). Study of qualitative methods in the form of document analysis is identified by the philosophy of the learning approach at TVET and the current TVET learning model. The analysis results recommend that the technology andragogy work content knowledge (TAWOCK) model is considered important to be developed in TVET learning. Characteristics of these findings include the involvement of learning using technology, increasing the level of learning for andragogy, adjusting work competence, and curriculum content developed on the concept of knowledge. Finally TPACK has been modified to TAWOCK to study in the TVET field.

Abstract

The challenge of learning media in the world within the next 1 to 2 years is Bring Your Own Device. It forces the learning paradigm to think quickly to follow the development of technology that can optimally use it. In the Control Systems II course, there are some stereotypes that some of the material is mainly an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was limited to theory and simulations and is difficult to be applied. Teaching aids are interpreted as teaching material that is used to help teachers in carrying out the teaching and learning activities in the classroom. The purposes of this study are: (1) to create teaching aid for ANN material to diagnose motorcycle damage in the Control System II Course (2) to define the accuracy of the application of the teaching aid for the material of ANN in the Control System II Course. The prototyping approach model is used to generally define the teaching aid product that will be developed. In detail, the development methods include (1) listen to the customer, (2) build or revise a mock-up, and (3) customer test drives mockup. Teaching aids products are built in the form of application for the diagnosis of motorcycle damages using the Back-Propagation ANN. This application can detect four types of motorcycle damages based on the sample sounds of motorcycles included. The application can recognize the type of damage from 100 new sound data outside its knowledge-base with a 60% accuracy level.

Abstract

According to the Ministry of Environment (KLH), Indonesia's average population produces 189 thousand tons of garbage per day. Of this amount, 15% is plastic waste or 28.4 thousand tons of plastic waste per day. The famous handling of plastic waste is 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Reduce is reducing the purchase or use of goods made from plastic, especially disposable items. Reuse is the repeated use of plastic-based items.  Recycle is recycling goods made of plastic.  The method used in this design study is to use SolidWorks software by combining the literature study VDI221 to obtain a variant of the design results that will be used. The study results do a plastic bench machine that is integrated to produce plastic seeds, which are PET-shaped, which are extruded in a device that has been brewed. From the results of the design in the data processing and design specifications of the PET plastic waste-processing machine with the extruder method, the construction consists of several units, namely, Shredder unit, Extruder unit, Cutter unit, and Machine frame. The shredder unit serves to destroy plastic waste that is still intact in pieces before being processed in the extruder unit. The extruder unit functions to melt PET waste to be extruded using a screw. The cutter unit operates to cut processed extrusion waste into pellet granules. The engine frame is used to support the entire engine unit. The results of the Plastic Waste Extruder Machine design process with an Autodesk inventor are summarized in the following specifications: machine dimensions are 1625 mm long, 300mm wide, and 1325mm high; screw extruder uses a metering screw type with a diameter of 50.8mm (2 inches) with a length: diameter ratio of 20: 1, so the screw length is 1016mm, estimated throughput rate = 84 lb/h (42kg / h), the motor used is 5.5 PK (4 KW) with a rotation speed of 1450.

Abstract

Current learning is needed to emphasize student activities to be more constructive. However, learning emphasizes more on the target material and focuses on the final result. This study aims to improve student learning activities and outcomes in Automotive Engineering Basic Work subjects by implementing the ARCS learning model. This type of research is classroom action research, each cycle consisting of stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 40 students of tenth grade State Vocational High School in Purworejo, Indonesia. Data were collected through observation to determine the description of student activities during the learning process. Then the evaluation test was used to determine the final results of student learning after being given the ARCS learning model in the classroom. The study results indicate that the implementation of ARCS learning in the process provides progress on student learning activities and outcomes during the learning process. The results showed that the implementation of the ARCS model increased student learning activities by 74% and increased learning outcomes by 82%. Thus, it can be concluded that the ARCS learning model, in general, can have a potential effect because students are more constructive in learning so that it can be used as a learning reference in vocational high school.
