Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to improve students' numeracy skills by using fun methods. This activity starts from situation analysis, activity design, socialization, implementation, and evaluation of activities. The result of this activity is that it can improve students' numeracy skills. Students are faster in solving the problems given. The team hopes that tutoring activities like this can be carried out sustainably in the future. Students gave a positive impression and requested that this teaching and learning activity be sustainable because it really helped them in understanding basic concepts

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan belajar siswa SMPN 8 kota Kupang kelas VIIA pada mata pelajaran penyajian data yang dilihat dari letak, jenis dan faktor penyebab kesulitan belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian adalah SMPN 8 kota Kupang kelas VIIA yang pelajaran matematika mata pelajaran penyajian data yang berjumlah 32 orang. Instrumen penelitian yang dikembangkan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini adalah berupa tes dan wawancara. kesulitan yang di alami siswa yaitu: Siswa kesulitan untuk menentukan perpotongan sumbuh horisontal dan vertikal siswa kurang teliti dalam mengerjakan soal yang diberikan. Hasil dalam penelitian ini dapat diharapkan menjadi suatu sumbangan dan bahan pertimbangan bagi dunia pendidikan dan pembelajaran matematika. Berikut ini beberapa saran yang dapat diberikan peneliti adalah sebagai berikut: 1.) Bagi siswa agar terus mencoba untuk memahami dimana letak dan jenis kesulitan yang dialaminya dalam belajar matematika pada materi mata pelajaran penyajian data. 2.) Bagi guru agar memperhatikan letak dan jenis kesulitan belajar matematika siswa. Dengan mengetahui letak dan jenis kesulitan belajar matematika, guru dapat mengusahakan pembelajaran yang sesuai agar dapat meminimalisir maupun mengatasi kesulitan yang dialami oleh siswa.

Abstract

OSN is an activity that comprehensively develops a culture of learning, creativity, and motivation to achieve. However, the lack of knowledge among teachers and students about mathematics Olympiad questions has resulted in poor performance. The purpose of this community service activity is to equip teachers with basic skills and techniques in understanding Olympiad material so that they can guide students to acquire the skills to solve Olympiad questions. The methods used were lectures, discussions, and simulations. The results obtained from this activity were very effective, as demonstrated by an increase in the average score from 32.33 on the pretest to 85.67 on the posttest, indicating significant progress in mastery of concepts and basic skills in solving Olympiad questions. In addition to improving academic abilities, the results of the evaluation through questionnaires showed that participants were satisfied with the implementation of the activity, both in terms of material and delivery methods. Participants gained new insights and strategies in solving Olympic questions, which had an impact on increasing their confidence and motivation. Similar community service activities in the future need to be designed with a stronger focus on the basic understanding stage so that the results achieved can be more optimal and evenly distributed.
