Abstract

Improving the quality of learning in schools is carried out by various strategies, one of which is developing teaching materials. The development of teaching materials in modules is currently a very urgent need. Because the application of the module can make learning activities more well-planned, independent, complete, and precise results so that educators can assist schools in realizing quality learning. However, in reality, many educators have difficulty making teaching modules that suit the needs of students. Due to educators' lack of knowledge and training to make teaching modules. Therefore, this PKM activity aims 1) to introduce and equip educators about teaching modules, 2) to assist educators in making teaching modules. The implementation method used in this activity is lecture, practice, and discussion. The activities were conducted online using the Zoom application and offline at SMA Negeri 2 Tebing Tinggi Empat Lawang. The steps in PKM activities are 1) preparation, 2) implementation, 3) reflection. Data was collected through a questionnaire. The implementation of PKM activities showed that the training activities ran smoothly, and the participants were enthusiastic about participating in the training. From the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that 72.8% of the participants stated that this training activity could increase their knowledge and understanding of the module, and 83.3% stated that this training activity could train the skills of educators in doing modules. This activity can contribute to educators producing practical modules to use in the learning process

Abstract

Distribusi peluang atau disebut juga dengan distribusi peluang peubah acak merupakan bagian materi dari Mata Kuliah Statistika Matematika. Materi ini adalah lanjutan dari materi peluang. Mahasiswa banyak mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami materi distribusi peluang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis mahasiswa pada materi distribusi peluang. Peneltian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 22 orang mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada September 2021 sampai Desember 2021. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis dan wawancara. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan representasi matematis mahasiswa pada materi distribusi peluang masih tergolong rendah. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pembelajaran yang dapat mengembangkan kemampuan representasi matematis, khususnya pada aspek representasi visual dan verbal.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of vector e-modules based on project-based learning for students in class X SMA. This study is a continuation of development research using a 4D model (define, design, development, and dissemination). The feasibility of the e-module is assessed in the development section, which includes three trial stages: one-to-one, small group, and field test. 35 students from SMA Negeri 15 Palembang participated in this study. Questionnaires, interviews, and written tests were used to collect data. The results of the questionnaire and written test were analyzed quantitatively, while the data from interviews were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of the one-to-one stage, it is clear that the e-module has an interesting appearance, is simple to use, and includes videos to help students understand the material. The e-module has a practicality level of 77,4 % in the small-group stage and 79,4 percent in the field test stage. This data is backed up by students' ability to solve vector material problems in the e-module, which is 78.4 percent at the field test stage. Based on the data analysis results, it is possible to conclude that the e-module vector based on project-based learning is practically used in learning with a moderate level of practicality. Keywords: E-Module, Project Based Learning, Vector

Abstract

ABSTRACTHigh Order Thinking Skill or abbreviated with HOTS is an ability that is applied in the revised 2013 curriculum. The community service activities aim to (1) help teachers improve their understanding of learning outcomes evaluation, (2) improve teacher understanding of HOTS questions, and (3) improve teachers' ability to make HOTS questions, so that later HOTS questions are in accordance with the standards 2013 revision curriculum. This community service activity was carried out in the form of short training for three meetings. This activity was held in SMA Negeri 3 Tebing Tinggi, Empat Lawang Regency, South Sumatera Province, which was attended by high school teachers in Empat Lawang District. The method used in the implementation of this activity is the method of lecture, discussion, simulation and demonstration. The results of this activity were the increase in teachers' understanding of the HOTS problem and the teacher's ability to make HOTS questions. ABSTRAKKemampuan berpikir tinggi atau yang disingkat dengan HOTS merupakan kemampuan yang diterapkan dalam Kurikulum 2013 revisi. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk  (1) membantu guru dalam meningkatkan pemahaman tentang evaluasi hasil belajar, (2) meningkatkan pemahaman guru tentang soal HOTS, dan (3) meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam membuat soal HOTS, sehingga nantinya diperoleh soal HOTS yang sesuai dengan standar Kurikulum 2013 revisi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan singkat selama tiga kali pertemuan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 3 Tebing Tinggi Kabupaten Empat Lawang Propinsi Sumatera Selatan yang diikuti oleh guru-guru SMA dalam Kabupaten Empat Lawang. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah metode ceramah, diskusi, simulasi dan demonstrasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pemahaman guru tentang soal HOTS dan kemampuan guru dalam membuat soal HOTS.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih terbatasnya jumlah publikasi artikel ilmiah guru SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Gelam Kecamatan Teluk Gelam Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Provinsi Sumatera Selatan. Data observasi awal menunjukkan bahwa guru yang pernah melakukan penulisan dan publikasi artikel pada jurnal ilmiah hanya sekitar 26,5%. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk (1) memberikan pemahaman tentang cara menyusun artikel ilmiah dan (2) mengenalkan kepada guru SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Gelam tentang tata cara publikasi artikel pada jurnal ilmiah. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah presentasi, demonstrasi dan praktik. Data pada kegiatan ini dikumpulkan melalui angket dan lembar wawancara. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta pelatihan mengikuti secara antusias kegiatan ini karena kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat untuk guru dalam mengembangkan kompetensi profesionalisnya. Peserta mendapatkan pemahaman tentang cara penyusunan artikel ilmiah yang baik, dan peserta telah dapat melakukan praktik cara untuk publikasi artikel pada jurnal ilmiah dengan baik pula. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan, pelatihan ini juga sebaiknya dilakukan di sekolah lain yang berada pada daerah luar kota Kabupaten.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the students’ mathematical representation ability through the implementation of Maple in learning definite integral and those with ordinary learning. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was students of 2nd semester of Mathematics Education Program at PGRI Palembang University Academic year 2017/2018. The sample in this study were students of class II.A and II.B, class II.A as a control group and class II.B as experiment group. Data were collected through a test of mathematical representation ability. Data in this study were analyzed through descriptive quantitative. The result of this study showed that students’ mathematical representation ability through implementation Maple in learning definite integral better than those who get the ordinary learning.

Abstract

Set theory has a wide role in mathematical concepts. Students have to understand the set theory before learning other concepts such as algebra and probability. This study aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on the students’ mathematical representation in set theory topics. The method used in this study is a quasi-experiment design. The populations in this study were 289 students of 7th grade at Secondary School in Palembang. The sample of this study were students of class 7.8 (control group) and 7.10 (experimental group). Data were collected through tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on data analysis, known that PBL affects the students’ mathematical representation. Students who had the PBL model get the better score of mathematical representation. They could use the symbol of set correctly, represent the set into Venn diagram correctly and they also could explain their answer. Furthermore, the implementation of the PBL model is offered.

Abstract

Kemampuan untuk melakukan operasi mental dalam bentuk tindakan, prosedur, objek, dan skema ketika membangun konsep didefinisikan sebagai pemahaman konsep matematika. Hal ini juga mencakup kemampuan untuk mengingat dan menarik kesimpulan dari aturan-aturan khusus ke dalam hubungan matematis, yang dalam hal ini pada materi operasi hitung bilangan desimal, yang meliputi penambahan dan pengurangan nilai desimal. Rendahnya pemahaman operasi bilangan desimal di sekolah dasar merupakan masalah utama penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini guna mengetahui bagaimana peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung bilangan desimal di SD melalui model problem based learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Pre-Eksperimental Design dengan tipe One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari tes tertulis (pretest dan posttest), angket respon siswa, observasi aktivitas siswa dan dokumentasi. Sebanyak 18 siswa di kelas IV A SD Negeri 12 Tanjung Batu menjadi subjek penelitian. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis gain ternormalisasi (N-Gain), teknik analisis data angket respon siswa, teknik analisis ketuntasan hasil belajar, dan teknik analisis data observasi aktivitas belajar siswa. Berdasarkan dari hasil analisis data diperoleh kesimpulan yaitu penerapan model problem based learning dinyatakan berhasil dan terjadi peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep operasi hitung bilangan desimal di SD. Hal ini dilihat dari hasil N-gain yang didapat yaitu 56,15% dengan kriteria keefektifan “Cukup Efektif”.

Abstract

Background: Mathematics learning is frequently perceived as abstract and disconnected from students’ daily experiences. Ethnomathematics offers a culturally responsive approach by embedding mathematical concepts within community traditions. However, teachers often face challenges in analyzing classroom data due to limited familiarity with accessible statistical software. This community service program addressed the need to strengthen ethnomathematics-based instruction supported by digital data analysis tools, particularly Jamovi. Purpose of the Study: This study aimed to enhance teachers’ understanding of ethnomathematics and improve their competence in applying the Jamovi application for statistical data analysis in mathematics learning. Methods: The program employed a participatory training model consisting of preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. Activities included socialization sessions, seven online workshops, and one offline session involving 50 mathematics teachers from the MGMP forum. Pre-tests, post-tests, product presentations, and satisfaction questionnaires were used to evaluate outcomes. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Normalized Gain (N-Gain). Results: The findings indicate high participant satisfaction, with an average of 70.6% selecting “Strongly Agree.” Teachers’ mean scores improved from 66.56 (pre-test) to 85.76 (post-test), with an average N-Gain of 0.59 (medium-to-high category). The results demonstrate that integrating ethnomathematics with Jamovi effectively enhances teachers’ statistical literacy, technological competence, and ability to design contextual mathematics learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Practical learning in the automotive field requires students not only to understand the operating principles of vehicle components but also to apply them accurately in workshop activities. In the cooling system topic, limited practical learning media often hinder the learning process, resulting in learning experiences that do not fully reflect real workplace conditions. This situation encourages the use of a cooling system trainer as a learning medium designed to strengthen the connection between conceptual understanding and practical skills. This study involved 30 students of Class XI TKR 2 at SMK Negeri 8 Palembang, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Changes in students’ practical abilities were observed through pre- and post-learning practical tests and analyzed using normality testing, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and N-Gain analysis. The results revealed an increase in the average practical score from 49.53 to 84.80 after the implementation of the trainer-based learning activities. A significance value of 0.000 (<0.05) indicated a statistically significant improvement in students’ practical performance. Furthermore, the average N-Gain score of 0.68 was categorized as moderate, with an effectiveness level of 68.04%. These findings suggest that the cooling system trainer can provide a more engaging learning experience, enhance procedural understanding, and support the development of vocational competencies aligned with industry demands. Therefore, the media has considerable potential as an innovative alternative for practical learning in automotive vocational education. ABSTRAK Pembelajaran praktik pada bidang otomotif menuntut peserta didik tidak hanya memahami konsep kerja komponen kendaraan, tetapi juga mampu menerapkannya secara tepat dalam kegiatan bengkel. Pada materi sistem pendingin, keterbatasan media praktik sering kali menyebabkan proses pembelajaran kurang optimal sehingga pengalaman belajar yang diperoleh siswa belum sepenuhnya mencerminkan kondisi kerja nyata. Kondisi tersebut mendorong pemanfaatan media trainer sistem pendingin sebagai sarana pembelajaran yang dirancang untuk memperkuat keterkaitan antara pemahaman konseptual dan keterampilan praktik. Kajian ini melibatkan 30 siswa kelas XI TKR 2 SMK Negeri 8 Palembang yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Perubahan kemampuan praktik diamati melalui pemberian tes sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan media, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, dan perhitungan N-Gain. Hasil pengolahan data memperlihatkan peningkatan rata-rata skor dari 49,53 menjadi 84,80 setelah siswa mengikuti pembelajaran dengan media trainer. Nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (<0,05) menunjukkan adanya perubahan yang bermakna pada capaian praktik siswa. Selain itu, rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,68 berada pada kategori sedang dengan tingkat efektivitas mencapai 68,04%. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bahwa penggunaan media trainer sistem pendingin mampu menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih aktif, memperkuat penguasaan prosedur kerja, dan mendukung pembentukan kompetensi vokasional yang selaras dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja. Dengan demikian, media tersebut berpotensi menjadi alternatif inovasi pembelajaran praktik pada pendidikan kejuruan otomotif.
