Abstract

The statue is an archaeological remains which was built by people to fulfill certain needs in purpose. The archaeological remains in Bali are still in use and purified by its society by storing inside a temple, one of them is in Pura Puseh Desa Bale Agung Bukian, Payangan, Gianyar. This research has been done before by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Office, however it is just for conservation purpose and yet into deeper analysis. This research has an approach to acknowledge form, timeline, and function of an art statue remains in Pura Puseh Desa Bale Agung Bukian, Payangan, Gianyar. In this research, I used some theories such as form and functionality theory. I used some methods to solve these issues such as in first phase to collect data are observation, interview, and reviewing literature. The second phase are processing a data by analyzing data such as qualitative, iconographic, and comparative analysis. Based on the the analysis result, it can be concluded that the form of the statue remains in Pura Puseh Desa Bale Agung Bukian are 4 pieces of bhatara manifestation statues, 24 pieces of bhatari statues, and 10 pieces of fragments. The remains in Pura Puseh Desa Bale Agung Bukian can be put into Bali Madya style, because they had the same characteristic features with the Bali Madya’s statues group in Pucak Penulisan Temple, bhatari statue in Penataran Sasih Temple, bhatara statue in Sibi Agung Kesian Temple, and a couple of statues in Subak Taulan Kerobokan Temple. Until now, the remains in Pura Puseh Desa Bale Agung Bukian in Payangan, Gianyar are still being utilized by temple’s penyungsung as a place to worship. People and temple’s penyungsung considered that the remains had a magical religious power which the praying ceremony and piodalan was held in certain days. The remain which was stored in pelinggih believed by the people of Bukian village as a place to pray protection, safety, and fertility for agriculture and livestock of Bukian society.

Abstract

This study is concentrated on a group of inscriptions currently stored in Bale Agung Kintamani Temple. Therefore the problemsis consists of two questions, those are: how the linguistic aspects of the inscription and aspects of social institutions enclosed to the inscription. The are two phasesresearch method. Data collection is done through libraryresearch and observation to documentation result. The collected dataare analyzed through morphological analysis and qualitative analysis.The research results showed that the Kintamani E inscription contains several aspects of language such as the using of affixation are Perfix: (di-, sa-, a- or ma-, pa-, ka-, pari-, Infix: -um- , -in-, suffixes: -nya-, -aken, - ?n, konfiks: (pa - an), (ma - an), (ka - an), (ma - ak?n), (pa - nya), (saka-nya).The social orders involved the political aspect, economic aspect, religious aspect and social aspects contained in the inscription very possibly reflectedthe society at that time

Abstract

Megalithic culture is culture which produces big buildings made of big stone. The megalithic cultural relics are exist in Bedulu Village, Blahbatuh District, Gianyar Regency in form of stone mortar, millstone, menhir, flat stone, natural stone, and sarkofagus. This research was intended to know the function changes of the megalithic cultural relics or heritage in several temples in Bedulu Village, such as: Santrian Temple, Dukuh Santrian Temple, Samuan Tiga Temple, Tegal Penangsaran Temple, Gunung Sari Temple, and the house yard of Gusti Putu Darmi, and also to find out the factors that influence those changes. This research used several data collection methods, data analysis, and theories to support in answering the research problem. The research method used includes data collection by conducting observation, interview, and literature study. The next step was data processing in which the researcher used qualitative analysis, morphological analysis, comparative analysis, and contextual analysis. The theories used to answer the research problem were social changes theory and structural functional theory. The results of the function changes analysis of the megalithic tradition’s relics in Bedulu Village especially in several temples indicate that there was a function change in terms of naming and usability. In terms of naming the changes could be seen from the way how to name the Gods and how to name the celestial bodies. In terms of usability could be seen from the function in which the relics used to be fuctioned as a worshiping pleace for ancestors while nowdays the relics are functioned as mediums to worship to the God (Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa). Those changes were caused by some factors such as, religion factor in which people have already known the God, less information factor from relevant instance, and also ideological factor that is people’s mindset or point of view about archeological heritage or relics especially megalithic relics in the Bedulu Village, Blahbatuh Distric, Gianyar Regency.

Abstract

Title the study is Function and Roles of the archaeological heritage in Yeh Gangga Temple Tabanan Regency has the aim knowing the function of archaeological heritage and roles of archaeological heritage for the society Perean Village. Data in this study were obtained by using observation, interview, and literature techniques and then the data were analyzed using qualitative analysis, contextual analysis, and comparing analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that the function archaelogical heritage in Yeh Gangga Temple has a manifestation God to keep safety, prosperity, pacify, healty and fertility, while roles of the archaeological heritage in Yeh Gangga Temple in social aspect has media to unite society of Perean Village, in the cultural aspect field it would be one tengible evidence of mixing process between the culture of Java and Bali, and then pride for society Perean Village, in religious field the archaeological heritages functions as the media of maintaining a good relationship between the local community with the ancestors and Gods.

Abstract

In Bali, the archaeological remains is still functioned and sanctified by the public by placing them in a temple, one of them is Penataran Kacang Bubuan Mas Temple, Ubud, Gianyar regency. The methodin this study is a qualitative committee method which will produce desktiptif data in the form of written words. Data analyis being applied in this research is the qualitative analysis,iconography analysis and contextual analysis. Some theories being applied in this research is the functional theory and semiotics theory. Based on the analysis, the conclusions are drawn in the form of archaeological heritage of 1 piece Ganesha statue,1 piece simpel statue (primitive statue), 6 pieces embodiment statues of bhatari, 2 pieces embodiment statues of bhatara, 1 piece lingga (tribhaga), 2 pieces animal statues, 1 piece priest statue, 1 pieces clownman statue, 4 pieces fragments of statues, 1 piece fragment waterless building fragment, 1 piece natural stone. Archaelogical remains in Penataran Kacang Bubuan Mas Temple, Ubud, Gianyar regency when viewed from its function in the past has experienced a shift function. The local community is still sanctify archaeological remains as a workship tool to ask for safety and protection from harm and fertility. The meaning of the archaeological remains found in the temple is sacred objects for the means of worship by the penyungsung pura community. The means of worshiping the requested statues is symbolism or symbolic that connects worshipers with gods, ancestral holy spirits or for Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa (God).

Abstract

Tradition is an activity carried for generations. The remains of the megalithic tradition in Kawangu village, District Pandawai, East Sumba in the form of stone tomb (reti) with a decorative menhirs (penji). This research was conducted to determine the type of form by classification based on size. Burial systems in reti in Kawangu village are unique because burial placed on the stone above the ground level. Reti has significance for society of Kawangu.This research uses multiple methods of data collection, data analysis, and theory to answer the problem of research The method used in this study includes data collection phase and data processing. The data collection phase in the form of observation, interview, and literature study, while the data processing stage performance by using the typology analysis and ethnography. The theory is used to help answer the problem of this research is the theory of structural functionalism and semiotics.Results of the analysis of the data obtained in the form of reti in Kawangu Village form consists of 2 larges size which can be classified according ornament of menhirs (penji), 18 mediums size that can be classified based on the material are limestone and cement, and 19 smalls size. Burial system made on the ground symbolizing the great king and meaning of power and serve as a place of worship, and a tribute to the ancestor. Kawangu megalithic tradition in the village can be called as a living megalithic tradition because it still continues to this day.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The improvement of comprehension about cultural heritage and conservation to the young generations can be done by education and training. The methods applied are presentation with discussion and training of conservation. The advantage of comprehension signification about cultural heritage is indicated by the improving percentage from 30 students (81.08%) became 37 students (100%), about rescuing of cultural heritage from 36 students (97.89%) became 37 students (100%), about conservation from 15 students (40.54%) became 34 students (91.89%). And for conservation technique become 34 students (91.89%) from 5 students (13.52%). The result shows that technics of education and training is efective for advance students in comprehending the cultural hetitage and conservation techniques.

Abstract

The provisioning of comprehension about cultural heritage and conservation to the young generations can work out with education and training. Application of methods are presentation with discussion and training of conservation. The advance of comprehension signification about cultural heritage is indicated by the advance percentage from 23 respondents (76,6%) became 30 respondents (100%), about rescuing of cultural heritage from 30 respondents (100%) became 30 respondents (100%), about inventory from 27 respondents (90%) became 30 respondents (100%). And for conservation become 30 respondents (100%) from 27 respondents (90%). The result shows that technique of education and training is efective for advanced respondents’ comprehension about cultural hetitage and concervation.

Abstract

Iconography is the study of the art of sculpture. The statue is a symbol of God or the embodiment of a deceased public figure. In Indonesia in general and Bali in particular, the tradition of making statues has a long history, from the time of farming to the days of the influence of Hindu and Buddhist civilization. During the Hindu and Buddhist era, the development of statues with Hindu and Buddhist motifs was developed. This research is focused on Hindu-style statues found in Gianyar, Bangli, and Buleleng Regencies. Hindu iconographic research aims to obtain the historical pictures of the arts of the statues, their forms, functions, and meanings in people's lives. The results show that Hindu iconography in Bali has various forms, with different functions from the original functions. Likewise, the meanings depend on the community that makes meanings in the present context.

Abstract

Konservasi adalah tindakan untuk mencegah dan menghambat proses kerusakan atau pelapukan, tindakan menangani kerusakan, serta menjaga agar suatu benda tetap berada pada kondisi yang baik sesuai dengan aslinya. Bertolak dari pengertian tersebut, masyarakat Desa Sukawana, Kecamatan Kintamani, Kabupaten Bangli, Bali merupakan salah satu masyarakat desa yang melakukan konservasi tradisional terhadap peninggalan arkeologi berupa prasasti Sukawana D yang telah diwarisi secara turun temurun. Usaha yang dilakukan adalah perawatan dengan menggunakan jeruk nipis secara rutin. Penggunaan jeruk nipis sebagai bahan perawatan prasasti Sukawana D terbukti sangat bermanfaat menghindari proses korosi. Perawatan ini dimaksudkan untuk memperlambat kerusakan prasasti. Upaya sederhana dan tradisional yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Desa Sukawana memperoleh hasil nyata berupa lestarinya prasasti Sukawana D.
