Abstract

This study aims to test the written mathematical communication skills of students who st udy mathematics material about cubes and blocks at SMP 238 Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative descriptive methodology. Data collection using tests and interview. As a test of the v alidity of the data usin the triangulation technique was carried out by comparing the results of the subject’s mathematical communication ability test with the results of the interview. The subject of this study were students of class VIII SMP 238 Jakarta, totaling 6 students who were divide into 3 groups based on high, medium, and low level of mathematicl ability. This study uses 3 indicators, namely explaining mathematical ideas, situations and relationships/in writing, explaining mathematical ideas in the form of visual images/tables/diagrams, explaining ideas of problem situations picture or real objects into the language of symbols of mathematical models/mathematical expressions. This study revealed that students with high level of mathematical ability were able to answer questions on indicators 1, 2, and 3. Subjects with low level of mathematical ability were able to answer questions on indicators 1, 2, and 3 but still did not understand and were still in complete the method used in answering.

Abstract

Background: Based on observations and interviews with teachers and grade XII students, it was found that students still have difficulty understanding mathematics. This is due to the lack of creativity of teachers in creating technology-based learning media. Method: This community service activity aims to provide solutions through simulations and focus group discussions (FGD) on the use of Android-based learning media. FGD participants consisted of 11 teachers and 3 prospective teachers from high schools and Islamic high schools in Indramayu. The activity was carried out through direct simulations and discussions, with data collection using questionnaires that were analyzed through the validity test of the Aiken and Atlas-ti indexes. Results: The results showed that Android media met the aspects of content quality, learning, and technical aspects with the category of "feasible" (average score of 3.454).  Conclusion: The application was declared feasible for use in learning, although it still needs further development according to participant input.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of integrating Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) into e-comic media for junior high school students in Jakarta in order to foster mathematical creativity and improve students’ ability to connect mathematical concepts with real-life situations. Methodology: This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the ADDIE instructional model to develop RME-based e-comic media. The product was implemented with junior high school students in Jakarta, and data on mathematical creativity and learning responses were collected using creativity tests, questionnaires, classroom observations, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Main Findings: The results indicate that RME-based e-comic media significantly improved students’ mathematical creativity across all indicators, including fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, and insight. Students showed higher learning motivation, more active engagement in discussions, and an increased ability to relate mathematical concepts to daily life, while teachers reported more dynamic classroom interactions, participation, and collaboration. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study introduces an innovative integration of Realistic Mathematics Education with interactive e-comic media to foster mathematical creativity in junior high school students. It advances mathematics education by demonstrating how context-rich, visually engaging digital narratives can transform conventional instruction into student-centered, creativity-oriented learning experiences and provides a scalable model for technology-enhanced, creativity-focused mathematics instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the increase of students' mathematical understanding ability in learning the two-variable linear equation system (SPLDV) and the two-variable linear inequality system (SPTLDV) with Android GeoGebra media reviewed by gender. This experimental quasi research is one group pretest postest design. The sample in this study was a class XI of 32 students with Purposive Random Sampling techniques. Data collection in this study uses an instrument for a mathematical understanding ability test in the form of a description. The results of the study can be concluded in the learning of Android GeoGebra, the mathematical understanding of male students is significantly different from the mathematical understanding of female students. It means that in learning the Android GeoGebra Improvement of the Mathematical Understanding Ability of Male Students is greater than female students. Thus it can be concluded that in the learning of Android GeoGebra, an increase in the mathematical understanding of male students is better than female students.

Abstract

Curriculum changes are one kind of change in education. Currently, primary and secondary education units use an independent curriculum to replace the 2013 curriculum. The Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP, UHAMKA, held a workshop on designing teaching modules for the independent curriculum at SMP Negeri 79 in Jakarta as part of its community service activities. This training activity involved a total of 33 people. As a result of this activity, participants have a better understanding of how to prepare teaching modules. Based on the evaluation findings for the speaker's method of delivering material, 32% of participants said they were highly satisfied, 59% said they were satisfied, and the rest were less satisfied. Furthermore, in terms of activity usefulness and participant satisfaction with its implementation, 64% were highly satisfied, 27% were satisfied, and the remaining 9% were less satisfied.
