Abstract

Serntinel 2A provide Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to be used as an estimate of soil fertility, plant varieties and productivity. The weakness of satellite data is that the data obtained is often inaccurate due to cloud cover, especially in tropical countries with high rainfall such as Indonesia. The use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as an alternative data have limitation as it captured Red Green Blue (RGB) imagery. The research was conducted from July to September 2020 at Pasir Kaliki Village, District of Rawamerta, Karawang Regency, West Java province. The study has discovered that NDVI showed higher number in result of vegetation index compared to Normalized Green-Red Difference Index (NGRDI) with correlation coefficient is 0.94. The regression model resulted as y=4.78x+0.38 and MAPE value expresses as 26.74%, where the regression model with Pearson’s correlation coefficient value is 0.88. A qualitative assessment using statistical data and a spatial assessment using sampled data from the rice vegetation map reveal a high mapping accuracy with the corresponding R2 being as high as 0.74; however, the mapped rice vegetation accuracy might influenced by other physical factors such as water reflectant, sunlight and the RGB camera limitation itself. Nonetheless, the highest values of NGRDI only reach 0.2 while NDVI can attain at 0.9 at the peak of vegetative phase of rice growth stage. This means that Green Band have limitation in detecting vegetation index. In relation to the different approaches performed, it is noted that the average trend line on both NDVI and NGRDI shown the similarity tendency in all growth stage.

Abstract

Abstract Morning Market in Pangkal Pinang is one of the trading centers in Pangkal Pinang which is an area prone to the transmission of the Covid-19 virus. So far, the number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has touched 15,211 positive, 1,002 recovered, and 689 people died. The data was taken on April 25, 2020. In Bangka Belitung, there has been a significant increase every year, with data on May 14, 2020 showing the number 29 positive, 5 recovered, and 5 people died. Along with the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Bangka Belitug, the Department of Mechanical Engineering of UBB is to make Covid-19 medical PPE in the form of a Faceshield that can be used for traders at the Pagi Pangkal Pinang market. This is done, because it is difficult to get PPE at this time and the price sold in the market is quite expensive. By combining medical science with the engineering world, the Mechanical Engineering department of UBB uses the Autodesk Inventor application to carry out the design process so that the results made later are tested, measurable, and safe to use.

Abstract

In the implementation of this Community Service Program (KKN), the main activities are focused on making egg hatching machines and utilizing these machines for chicken cultivation.Hatching chicken eggs using a hatching machine can be a quick way for the eggs to hatch. Without the help of a hatching machine, the process of eggs becoming chicks will take a long time and the risk of death is greater. For farmers, time is very valuable for the smooth running of the farm business, besides the success of hatching eggs is much greater than the manual method. The implementation of KKN is divided into 4 stages, the first stage is the manufacture of machines carried out before the implementation of KKN as well as the search for egg seeds. The second stage held a socialization on the use of egg hatching machines and how to breed chickens, the socialization was carried out by the East Belitung Regency Livestock Service Office. The third stage is making cages. Cages are made in the homes of lalang villagers who are selected based on an agreement from the village where the selected residents will then use the egg hatching machine to become chicken farmers. The fourth stage is chicken breeding, including feeding and vitamins. The last stage is monitoring, this stage is done to see how the chickens are developing before the KKN is completed.

Abstract

Canopy density is one of the important parameters in measuring the forest conditions. Canopy density can be estimated by using a remote sensing technology system. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is an active remote sensing system which uses a laser that is emitted by a sensor to the objects on the earth surface. For a wide area, image utilization which solely relies on LiDAR is still relatively expensive, so it is necessary to develop a method that combine LiDAR data with other medium resolution images such as Landsat 8 OLI imagery. Therefore, this research was conducted to obtain the canopy density estimation model from LiDAR and Landsat 8 OLI data. The results showed that the best estimation model at the study site, PT Global Alam Lestari's peat swamp forest was FRCI = - 0.0171 + 8.691 GRVI. The equation model had coefficient of determination (R²) of 50.2%, standard deviation value (s) of 0.101, aggregate deviation (SA) value of 0.459, and correlation coefficient (r) between the actual FRCI and the estimation FRCI (best model) of 0.503.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to find out: (1) to find out the background of the emergence of the Kebo-keboan tradition in Alasmalang Village, Singojuruh, Banyuwangi. (2) to find out the character values that exist in the Kebo-keboan tradition of Alasmalang Village, Singojuruh, Banyuwangi. (3) to find out the potential of the Kebo-keboan tradition that can be used as a source of learning history in high school. The research methods used are historical research methods with Steps, Heuristics, Observation Techniques, Interview Techniques, Document Study Techniques, Source Criticism, Interpretation and Historiography. The results showed that: Kebo-keboan tradsisi is a tradition born from a water civilization. Water in a civilization plays an important role for life. Many civilizations were born from the flow of water such as civilizations born in the Tigris river valley. The traditional kebo-keboan ceremony is carried out by the osing community in Alasmalang Village, Singojuruh, Banyuwangi, East Java as a repelling ritual and a form of gratitude for a bountiful harvest. This tradition arose as a result of a Tirakat or prayer request made by Great-Grandfather Karti who lived around the 18th century over the plague that hit the village at that time, and an attempt to find a solution due to prolonged crop failure. The people of Alasmalang village believe that for generations if they carry out the traditional Kebo-keboan ceremony will prevent them from all diseases that have plagued their village in the past. This Kebo-keboan tradition takes place in the month of Suro or the month of Muharam in the Islamic calendar. The aspects that can be used as a source of learning history based on curriculum and syllabus analysis are Religious, Social and Cultural aspects which are then compiled in modules as learning supports to be used as a source of learning history in high school. Abstract

Karawang Regency is one of the national rice barns and a major supplier of rice to Jakarta and surrounding areas. However, the productivity of this rice is threatened by the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) which causes crop failure. The reliance on chemical pesticides to control this pest results in negative impacts on the environment and endangers human health. This caused a decrease in land productivity resulting in the conversion of land use to non-agriculture. This research aims to analyze the conditions and problems of agricultural areas in Karawang Regency and design a strategy for regulating landscape structures in reducing the intensity of pest attacks in Karawang Regency. Optimizing the structure and pattern of agricultural landscapes using the AgriForScape (Agriculture-Forest-Landscape) model can be one of the effective strategies in pest control to increase land productivity by integrating agriculture and forest land covers. Land cover mapping for 2023 and 2000 was conducted using cloud computing, revealing a conversion of 14,000 hectares of rice paddy land over 23 years, leaving 99,713 hectares. AgriForScape focuses on the integration of agriculture and forest conservation to improve ecosystem balance, increase land productivity, and lower the risk of natural disasters. AgriForScape landscape management can be done with several strategies, including the addition of corridors and forest patches as habitat for natural predators of rat pests, and the addition of refugia areas as food sources and natural habitat for insect pest predators. By applying an ecological approach through optimized agricultural landscape design, this strategy aims to reduce pest attack intensity, boost rice productivity, and contribute to food security and climate change mitigation. The findings are expected to advance sustainable agriculture and offer valuable insights for local governments, farmers, and stakeholders seeking environmentally friendly land management solutions.

Abstract

Peatlands formed from long-term accumulation of partially decomposed organic matter in wetland areas. This particular ecosystem is not only capable of sequestering significant quantities of carbon but also vulnerable to forest and land fires (karhutla). Peatland produces considerable CO₂ emissions during fire occurrences, which consequently requires spatiotemporal monitoring to sustain its ecological roles and functions. This study aims to map the severity of fires in peatland ecosystems, estimate the success of post-fire restoration, and develop an Earth Engine Apps-based monitoring platform for peatland fire monitoring. Fire severity assessment and post-fire restoration success estimation were conducted in Jambi's Peat Hydrological Unit (PHU) in 2019 using the Normalized Burn Ratio (NBR) index derived from Sentinel-2 MSI satellite imagery. Most of Jambi PHU's fire severity and restoration levels are high. The area of PHU Jambi with high fire severity was 7,822.91 hectares, while the area with high restoration success was 23,744.69 hectares. NBR monitoring in PHU Jambi can be used to detect fire severity and restore success. The visualization of forest and land fire severity was successfully displayed on the Data Indo InaFire webGIS platform, an Earth Engine Apps-based monitoring platform.
