Abstract

Lima S (5S) merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan kebersihan, keteraturan, dan kedisiplinan di lingkungan kerja. Terdapat kerja sama antara UPT Logam Dinas Perindustrian Koperasi Usaha Kecil dan Menengah Kota Yogyakarta, BKSTI Korwil 5 DIY, dan Prodi-Prodi Teknik Industri di DIY untuk meningkatkan kinerja IKM-IKM logam di Kota Yogyakarta. Salah satu IKM logam tersebut bernama IKM Wintolo yang terletak di Umbulharjo, DIY. Penataan alat-alat produksi di IKM Wintolo tersebut masih belum baik oleh karena itu IKM tersebut membutuhkan pelatihan dan penerapan 5S. Hal tersebut bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecepatan produksi dari IKM tersebut. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September-November 2022. Kegiatan ini dimulai dengan survai kondisi lingkungan kerja di IKM tersebut, pemberian materi tentang 5S, pemasangan rak dan labelnya di area kerja, serta penempatan barang-barang tersebut pada rak yang telah disediakan. Materi pelatihan dan rak penyimpanan barang dapat diterima dengan baik oleh IKM tersebut. IKM tersebut dapat melakukan aktivitas produksi dengan lebih cepat karena posisi alat-alat produksi sudah mudah ditemukan karena sudah memiliki tempat penyimpanan sendiri-sendiri. Kegiatan pelatihan dan penerapan 5S ini sangat bermanfaat bagi IKM tersebut karena dapat meningkatkan kecepatan proses produksi produk logam. Kolaborasi antara UPT Logam, BKSTI Korwil 5 DIY, dan prodi Teknik Industri dalam meningkatkan link and match di antara pelaku industri dan pelaku akademik sangat bermanfaat dalam memajukan IKM tersebut. Kegiatan kolaborasi seperti diharapkan dapat terus terjaga dan berlanjut demi kemajuan bersama antara pelaku industri dan pelaku akademik.

Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. YYY, a manufacturing company engaged in fabrication with a focus on the plate cutting process, which plays an important role in determining the accuracy, precision, and quality of production results. However, various problems were still found such as cutting defects, inappropriate dimensions, and deformation due to heat that caused rework and wasted time and costs. To overcome this, this study applied the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) methods to identify the root causes of defects and non-value added activities (Non-Value Added). The results of the analysis showed a total of Non-Value Added (NVA) of 80 minutes and a waiting time of 130 minutes, with the main causes coming from the Man, Method, Machine, Environment, and System aspects. Through the implementation of improvements such as work standardization, measuring instrument calibration, area layout arrangement, and digitalization of the material monitoring system, increased efficiency, reduced waste, and improved overall production quality and timeliness were achieved.

Abstract

Erpat Leather is a manufacturer of leather bags, pouches, wallets, and belts, located in Tirto RT 05, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Some production materials are not arranged neatly, which can disrupt the smoothness of the production process. The business needs to improve the efficiency and smoothness of the production process. Then, community service activities were carried out by lecturers, educational staff, and students of the Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Study Programs of the University of AKPRIND Indonesia to increase the knowledge of Erpat Leather owners and workers about 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke). Erpat Leather needed training to improve the smoothness of the production process, work efficiency, and work safety. This training began with a discussion between the service team and the business owner, followed by field observations by the service team, and continued with suggestions for improvement to the owner and workers, and ended with the delivery of conclusions and a group photo. The implementation of 5S at Erpat Leather is carried out through five stages, namely, first, sorting goods that are still in use and those that are no longer used; second, arranging goods in the production area in an orderly manner; third, cleaning the work environment regularly; fourth, maintaining the work area to keep it clean; fifth, disciplining good work habits, and providing slogans that cultivate 5S. This activity is expected to increase Erpat Leather's competitiveness in the leather product market by improving the smoothness of the production process.
