Abstract

In the academic world, proper and efficient reference management is essential to ensure the quality and credibility of scientific writing. However, many lecturers and education practitioners, particularly early childhood education teachers, still encounter difficulties in managing references according to established academic standards such as APA and MLA citation styles. This challenge often hinders the process of academic writing and decreases the quality of scholarly outputs. To address this issue, a structured training program was conducted focusing on the use of Mendeley, a digital reference management tool designed to simplify citation and bibliography management automatically. The objective of this training was to enhance participants’ technical competence, digital literacy, and their ability to integrate Mendeley into the process of preparing scientific papers. The training activities were carried out using a series of steps, including needs assessment of participants, collaborative planning, hybrid training implementation (both online and offline), and continuous assistance through follow-up forums. Throughout the program, participants were guided step-by-step on how to install, use, and integrate Mendeley into word processing applications for academic writing. The results of the evaluation showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and practical skills, with an N-Gain score of 0.70, which falls into the high effectiveness category. The training not only improved the quality of reference management in scientific papers but also promoted greater professionalism and academic accountability. Moreover, it supported the broader goal of integrating technology into educational development. Overall, this initiative is expected to encourage more systematic, efficient, and digitally literate practices in academic writing among educators, ultimately contributing to improved educational quality in higher education settings.

Abstract

This study employed a quasi-experimental design aimed at examining the effect of using picture word card media on children’s early reading skills at Teratai Kindergarten, State University of Makassar. The research specifically focused on comparing children’s reading abilities before and after the treatment, as well as evaluating the significant impact of the media on Group B students. The independent variable in this study was the use of picture word cards, while the dependent variable was children’s early reading ability. The study involved a total population of 49 children, with 10 selected as samples through purposive sampling—5 in the experimental group and 5 in the control group. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests. The findings revealed that the use of picture word card media had a significant effect on improving early reading ability among young children at Teratai Kindergarten, UNM.

Abstract

The core component of gross motor skills is the ability to use the large muscles in the body to perform physical movements that involve coordination and strength. This research aims to determine the effect of audio-visual based learning media on gross motor skills in children in kindergarten. This research uses a quantitative experimental approach with a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The sample was taken using a saturated sampling technique, consisting of 20 children: 10 in the control class and 10 in the experimental class. Data was collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the experimental class that used audio-visual learning media had a higher increase in gross motor skills than the control class. Based on the Wilcoxon test, there is a significant influence of audio-visual based learning media on gross motor skills in kindergarten children aged 5-6 years in group B2 at Al-Biruni Mandiri Jipang Kindergarten.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the competence, understanding, and creativity of PAUD (Early Childhood Education) teachers in designing and developing learning media using simple, low-cost, and environmentally friendly materials. The training was held at TK Annisa, Pattallassang District, Gowa Regency, and involved four teachers from two local PAUD institutions along with students from the Early Childhood Education Department of Universitas Negeri Makassar. This program was conducted as part of the course output for the subject “Media Pembelajaran AUD” and implemented through three main stages: preparation, delivery of conceptual material and hands-on practice, and evaluation using structured questionnaires. The development of learning media was based on thematic learning concepts aligned with the national curriculum for early childhood education. Participants were guided to utilize recycled and reusable materials such as used cardboard, plastic bottle caps, fabric remnants, and other household waste. The findings revealed that the teachers experienced a significant increase in their knowledge and skills, as well as their ability to apply creative ideas into meaningful learning tools. Furthermore, the collaborative process between lecturers, students, and teachers encouraged reflective practice and sustainable innovation. Overall, the program ran effectively and achieved its objectives in supporting professional development for PAUD educators.

Abstract

Untuk mendeskripsikan anak usia dini di TK Mapan sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan, serta untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan media wordwall memberikan dampak terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan pada anak usia dini di TK Mapan, maka penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen. Kemampuan membaca permulaan merupakan variabel terikat dalam penelitian ini, sedangkan media wordwall merupakan variabel bebas. Purposive sampling digunakan untuk memilih populasi penelitian. Sejumlah 14 anak menjadi sampel penelitian. Kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 7 anak dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 7 anak. Analisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan analisis nonparametrik dilakukan untuk pengumpulan data. Peningkatan rata-rata pada kelompok eksperimen 18,00, sedangkan peningkatan rata-rata pada kelompok kontrol 8,43 yang mendukung kesimpulan bahwa anak-anak di kelompok eksperimen memiliki kemampuan membaca awal lebih baik daripada anak-anak di kelompok kontrol. Nilai sig.ditampilkan dalam hasil tes. (2-tailed) = 0.017 0.05 menunjukkan bahwa ditolak dan diterima yang menunjukkan bahwa Media Wordwall memiliki dampak yang besar terhadap kemampuan membaca awal anak usia dini.
