Abstract

The understanding of mentoring skills among lecturers and teachers is very low if it is only conveyed in the form of material in a training session without any real-world application. The quality of lecturers and teachers in mentoring affects the success of PPG students in obtaining teaching certificates. The purpose of this community service is to improve the mentoring skills of lecturers and teachers through online role playing. Role-playing presents realistic scenarios according to each participant's role. Therefore, this community service is expected to enable lecturers and mentor teachers to become quality mentors, which is one of the determinants of the quality of PPG student graduates. The implementation of the community service activity consists of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. This community service was carried out on September 9-11, 2025, with 39 participants. Participants were randomly divided into 8 groups. The main result of this PKM activity was 8 videos of role-playing mentoring skills for PPG. The benefit of this activity is that role-playing is intended to make lecturers and mentor teachers consciously feel that they are in various positions. The positions referred to are Field Supervisor Lecturer, Mentor Teacher, Peer, or PPG student being tested. Additionally, lecturers and examiners can understand the 9 roles of a mentor and the stages of mentoring. This community service has a positive impact on improving the mentoring skills of lecturers and teachers in guiding PPG students. The evaluation of this community service is that the lack of time allocation resulted in the PPL mentoring stages not being able to be completed.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan di desa Madukoro Baru Kecamatan Kotabumi Utara Kabupaten Lampung Utara Provinsi Lampung  pada tanggal 1–28 Februari 2023 kegiatan membuat dompet mengunakan tali kur dilaksanakan sebagai bentuk kreatifitas masyarakat di dusun Sukadamai dengan tujuan meningkatkan ekonomi kreatif dan pembangunan bisnis, tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi melihat bahwa di desa Madukoro Baru perlu adanya suatu arahan agar banyak orang tertarik untuk datang ke desa Madukoro Baru karena di desa tersebut tidak ada pariwisata sehingga dengan adanya kegiatan ini tim berharap agar desa Madukoro Baru mampu menarik minat masyarakat di luar desa Madukoro Baru dan meramaikan desa dengan belajar membuat dompet bersama, Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan tim PkM mendemonstrasikan cara membuat dompet tali kur serta warga khususnya ibu-ibu yang ikut terlibat dalam kegiatan ini. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini semoga dapat memajukan ekonomi kreatif dalam sektor kerajinan tangan sebagai usaha untuk membangun perekonomian keluarga secara khusus dan perekonomian desa secara umum.

Abstract

Program Kampus Mengajar merupakan program yang dapat dijadikan pilihan untuk dapat memperbanyak pengalaman. Kegiatan Kampus Mengajar dilaksanakan dengan memberikan bantuan pendampingan kepada guru dalam proses berlangsungnya kegiatan belajar mengajar khususnya meningkatkan kompetensi siswa dalam pembelajaran literasi dan numerasi. Adapun kegiatan Asistensi ini dilaksanakan mulai 26 Februrari 2024  sampai  13  Juni  2024,  dan  kegiatan  asistensi  mengajar dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 5 Sungkai Utara yang berada di Kecamatan Sungkai Utara, Kabupaten Lampung Utara. Adapun kegiatan asistensi tersebut antara lain: mading kelas, jendela perpus, membaca 15 menit, belajar kreatif literasi dan numerasi, matematika ceria, skill praktis, pembentukan karakter religius, berkreasi dengan alam, dan penjagaan dan perawatan perpustakaan. Program pelaksanaan asistensi ini dilakukan dalam beberapa metode kegiatan dan seluruh kegiatan berjalan dengan lancar. Dengan adanya program kampus mengajar ini dapat memberikan dampak yang sangat baik pada Mahasiswa dan pihak sekolah terutama bagi SMPN 05 Sungkai Utara.

Abstract

English language education is often hindered by conventional methods that lack interactivity, leading to student burnout when trying to improve their reading skills. This study investigates students’ perceptions of using TikTok as a medium for learning English reading based on cognitive, affective, and conative dimensions. Specifically, this study aims to evaluate the extent to which the short-form video platform contributes to optimizing literacy comprehension, identify the psychological and technical barriers faced by learners, and formulate pedagogical implications for teaching innovation at the university level. This qualitative study involved 8 English Language Education students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using a thematic approach. The findings indicate that, in the cognitive dimension, students rely on audiovisual elements and short texts as digital reading strategies that are more practical than conventional textbooks. In the affective dimension, the use of these platforms proved effective in minimizing anxiety and enhancing psychological comfort through content relevant to personal interests. Meanwhile, on the conative dimension, students’ motivation is evident in their ability to self-regulate by filtering out distractions from entertainment content, as well as in their initiative to use TikTok as a means of continuously developing their independent language skills. Based on the research findings, the combined use of text, images, and sound in short videos has been shown to help students understand the material more easily without experiencing mental fatigue, foster independent learning habits through strategies for retaining educational content, and consistently stimulate the enrichment of contextual vocabulary outside of formal class hours. In conclusion, TikTok has transformed into an effective informal educational ecosystem. These findings suggest that educators should begin integrating digital media innovations as a complement to pedagogical strategies to enhance students’ active engagement in English literacy in the modern era.
