Abstract

Indonesia’s export sector is a key driver of economic growth, contributing significantly to foreign exchange, employment, and industrial development. Accurate forecasting of export trends is crucial for policymakers, economists, and businesses in shaping strategies and reducing risks. This study applies the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model to forecast Indonesia’s monthly export values from January 2014 to August 2024. Dataset has been divided into training (75%) and testing (25%) subsets, and the Box-Jenkins methodology was employed, including stationarity testing, identification via ACF and PACF plots, parameter estimation, and residual diagnostics. The optimal ARIMA(1,1,1) model achieved strong predictive performance in RMSE, MSE, and MAPE. To benchmark classical methods against modern approaches, ARIMA was compared with the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). Results indicated that ARIMA delivered higher accuracy for this dataset, reaffirming the robustness of traditional models when data characteristics align with their assumptions. It has conducted prior research evaluation via 75%:25% holdout and rolling-actual back test. This research demonstrates that classical time-series models remain highly relevant in the era of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the importance of appropriate model selection in economic forecasting.

Abstract

Toxic workplace environments, excessive role demands, and financial anxiety are growing challenges in higher education, undermining lecturers’ well-being and increasing turnover intention. These issues are particularly evident in private institutions, where limited resources and job insecurity often intensify stressors. This study examines the influence of toxic workplace environment and work-role overload on turnover intention among lecturers in private higher education institutions in Lampung, with financial anxiety tested as a moderating variable. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed through online and offline approaches, and after data cleaning, 102 valid responses were analysed. Data were processed using SPSS 26, with descriptive statistics, reliability testing, and correlation analysis conducted as preliminary steps. All constructs demonstrated strong internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha values above 0.70. Results from Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) revealed that toxic workplace environment (β = 0.34, p < 0.01) and work-role overload (β = 0.41, p < 0.001) had significant positive effects on turnover intention. Moreover, financial anxiety significantly moderated the relationship between toxic workplace environment and turnover intention (β = 0.28, p < 0.05). These findings underscore the importance of addressing workplace stressors and financial concerns to reduce turnover intention and support healthier, more sustainable academic environments

Abstract

Accurate forecasting of agricultural exports is crucial for supporting trade policy and ensuring economic stability in Indonesia. This study investigates the impact of training–testing proportions on the forecasting accuracy of six models: linear regression, decision tree, optimized decision tree, neural network, Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), and exponential smoothing. Using Indonesia’s agricultural export data, model performance was evaluated under two data-splitting schemes (80%:20% and 75%:25%) with error metrics including MAE, MSE, RMSE, and MAPE. The results consistently show that statistical time series models outperform regression-based and machine learning approaches. In particular, SES achieved the lowest forecasting errors across all evaluation criteria, with MAPE values as low as 0.93%, followed by ARIMA as the second-best performer. Machine learning models, on the other hand, produced relatively higher error values, suggesting their limited ability to capture temporal dependencies in the data. Importantly, the choice of training–testing proportion did not significantly alter the ranking of model performance, indicating that model selection plays a more critical role than data partitioning. Overall, this study highlights the robustness of exponential smoothing methods as reliable forecasting tools for Indonesia’s agricultural exports and provides evidence-based insights for policymakers in designing effective trade strategies.
