Abstract

Virus Covid-19 telah menyebar di Indonesia yang menyebabkan seluruh proses belajar mengajar berubah dari pembelajaran langsung menjadi pembelajaran online. Pembelajaran menggunakan media online menuntut siswa untuk meningkatkan kemandirian belajarnya terutama kebiasaan membaca dan penguasaan kosakata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kebiasaan membaca di media online terhadap penguasaan kosakata selama pembelajaran online. Penelitian ini menggunakan data primer dan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari mahasiswa semester tiga program studi Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei  dengan menggunakan kuesioner sebanyak 20 pertanyaan pilihan ganda yang terdiri dari 10 pertanyaan mengenai variabel kebiasaan membaca dan 10 pertanyaan mengenai variabel penguasaan kosakata. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 responden dengan menggunakan uji asumsi klasik, analisis regresi sederhana, analisis korelasi, koefisien determinasi dan pengujian hipotesis menggunakan uji-t dan uji-F dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kebiasaan membaca di media online berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris selama pembelajaran online, dengan demikian hipotesis diterima. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut membuktikan bahwa kebiasaan membaca di media online berpengaruh terhadap penguasaan kosakata. Hipotesis alternatif diterima dan hipotesis nol ditolak. Koefisien determinasi variabel kebiasaan membaca di media online melalui penguasaan kosakata sebesar 59,4% dan sisanya sebesar 40,6% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the demonstration technique in teaching writing and personal pronouns refer to grammar to Private High School students in Lampung. Writing is a complicated aspect of English skills, particularly for personal pronouns. Personal pronouns are used by people, animals, things, or things. These pronouns depend on the role (subject, object, or possessive), number, third-person, and gender of the replaced noun. The students admitted that the learning method they had received thus far was tedious and only confused them; they needed to learn how to distinguish pronouns in personal pronoun material. The research used a qualitative method and involved 55 students from Private High School students in Lampung, classes IX A and B. Before the demonstration method was applied, almost 50% of students' scores were below 78. The learning method they received was tedious and confusing; they needed to learn how to distinguish pronouns in personal pronouns. However, students’ performance increased or was higher after using the demonstration method. The good and excellent ranges improved to 29%, and 58% of the total was 87%. The results indicate that the demonstration technique is an effective method for teaching writing, particularly for enhancing students' understanding of personal pronouns. Hence, demonstration techniques offer an alternative approach to selecting methods for English language learning. Through the implementation of these techniques, there is an expectation that English learning will become more interactive, thereby engaging students' interest.

Abstract

Abstract: This community service program was carried out by Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) with the aim of strengthening digital skills and English proficiency among high school/vocational school graduates in order to improve their job readiness. The activity took place at Balai RW 08, Kalideres, and West Jakarta. This program was motivated by the condition of high school/vocational graduates in RW 08, most of whom come from lower-middle-income families and are therefore more inclined to enter the workforce directly rather than pursue higher education. Thus, training is needed to enhance practical skills relevant to industry requirements.The training focused on three main aspects, developing a professional curriculum vitae (CV), strategies for facing job interviews in both Indonesian and English, and practicing digital skills through the use of Canva for CV creation. Participants were actively engaged through interactive sessions, simulations, and collaborative exercises. The results of the program indicated increased awareness, confidence, and skills among participants in preparing themselves to enter the workforce. The conclusion of this program is that integrating digital literacy and English proficiency in community-based training can enhance the competitiveness of high school/vocational school graduates and make a tangible contribution to supporting their readiness for the job market. Keywords: english proficiency, job readiness, digital skills, community service, vocational education Abstrak: Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan oleh Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) dengan tujuan memperkuat keterampilan digital dan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris lulusan SMA/SMK untuk meningkatkan kesiapan kerja. Kegiatan ini berlangsung di Balai RW 08, Kalideres, Jakarta Barat. Program ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi lulusan SMA/SMK di RW 08 yang sebagian besar berasal dari keluarga ekonomi menengah ke bawah, sehingga cenderung lebih memilih langsung bekerja daripada melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pelatihan yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan praktis sesuai kebutuhan industri.Pelatihan difokuskan pada tiga aspek utama: penyusunan curriculum vitae (CV) profesional, strategi menghadapi wawancara kerja dalam bahasa Indonesia maupun bahasa Inggris, serta keterampilan digital melalui penggunaan Canva untuk pembuatan CV. Peserta terlibat secara aktif melalui sesi interaktif, simulasi, dan latihan kolaboratif. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran, kepercayaan diri, dan keterampilan peserta dalam mempersiapkan diri menghadapi dunia kerja. Kesimpulannya, integrasi literasi digital dan kemampuan bahasa Inggris dalam pelatihan berbasis masyarakat dapat meningkatkan daya saing lulusan SMA/SMK serta memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam mendukung kesiapan mereka menghadapi pasar kerja. Abstract

Child-Friendly Open Public Space (RPTRA) Kalideres, West Jakarta is an economically/socially non-productive partner. The lack of ability to speak English properly and correctly is one of the main problems faced by high school students around RPTRA Kalideres. One of the difficult English skills for high school students around RPTRA Kalideres is the ability to communicate in English. What is often experienced by high school students around RPTRA Kalideres is wanting to say something in English but don't know what vocabulary to use and are afraid or not used to using English as a medium of communication. This is the background for lecturers in the English Study Program to hold community service activities. This form of community service is carried out in community service which is divided into two, namely the presentation of theory and the practice of communicating in English (speaking and writing). The media used in the English training this time are pictures and videos. After receiving material on how to communicate in English, the participants will immediately practice speaking and writing in English. The participants will be given a theme and must explain the theme in English both orally and in writing. It is hoped that with this training, participants can master English as one of the basic assets to be able to compete in facing the global era and can open various opportunities to achieve success.

Abstract

The most challenging language element for students is pronunciation. Pronunciation or pronunciation is considered to be one of the factors in a person's success in speaking skills. The importance of pronunciation makes students experience difficulty in mastering it. Therefore, the aim of this community service activity is to provide an interactive and fun method for learning pronunciation skills, namely the ELSA Speak application. This community service activity was carried out at Hall RW 008 Kampung Buaran, Kalideres, West Jakarta. Participants in this activity are junior high school students who live in RW 008 Kampung Buaran, Kalideres, West Jakarta. A total of 25 students participated in this activity. The author used a pre-test and post-test to determine the effectiveness of using the ELSA Speak application. Data is collected through tests, questionnaires and interviews to assess students' abilities and perceptions. The results show that the ELSA Speak application is effective in improving pronunciation, as shown by the scoring of the application which is higher in the post-test compared to the pre-test. In addition, questionnaire responses strongly indicate that students consider the ELSA Speak app to be an effective method for learning pronunciation. The ELSA Speak application can help students when practicing pronunciation compared to their previous abilities. Elemen bahasa yang paling menantang bagi siswa adalah pengucapan. Pengucapan atau pronunciation dinilai  menjadi salah satu faktor kesuksesan seseorang dalam keterampilan berbicara. Pentingnya pengucapan membuat siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menguasainya. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk menyuguhkan metode yang interaktif dan menyenangkan dalam mempelajari keterampilan pengucapan yaitu aplikasi ELSA Speak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Balai RW 008 Kampung Buaran, Kalideres, Jakarta Barat. Peserta kegiatan ini adalah siswa SMP yang tinggal di lingkungan RW 008 Kampung Buaran, Kalideres, Jakarta Barat. Sebanyak 25 siswa berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan ini. Penulis menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengetahui keefektifan penggunaan aplikasi ELSA Speak. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes, kuesioner, dan wawancara untuk menilai kemampuan dan persepsi siswa. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi ELSA Speak efektif dalam meningkatkan pengucapan, seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh score assessment pada aplikasi yang lebih tinggi pada post-test dibandingkan dengan pre-test. Selain itu, tanggapan kuesioner dengan kuat menunjukkan bahwa siswa menganggap aplikasi ELSA Speak sebagai metode yang efektif untuk belajar pengucapan. Aplikasi ELSA Speak dapat membantu siswa ketika berlatih pengucapan dibandingkan dengan kemampuan mereka sebelumnya.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the coffee shop industry creates intense competition, forcing business players to understand the factors influencing consumer purchasing decisions. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of Price (X1) and Product Quality (X2) on Purchasing Decisions (Y) among consumers of Serab Coffee Brewery. Data collection was conducted by distributing structured questionnaires to 97 respondents determined using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method. The collected primary data underwent instrument testing (validity and reliability), classical assumption testing, and were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis via SPSS version 25. The test results indicate that both Price and Product Quality variables partially and simultaneously have a significant effect on Purchasing Decisions. Partially, the Price variable contributes an effect of 29.4%, while Product Quality contributes 27.4%. The Coefficient of Determination (R Square) value shows a figure of 0.568, indicating that the combined stimulus of price and product quality variables is able to explain 56.8% of the variation in the consumer Purchasing Decision variable, while the remaining 43.2% is influenced by other factors outside this study.
