Abstract

This research aims to describe the main character and the value of character education in the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. This type of research is qualitative. The instrument used in this research is human instrument or the researcher himself. The data collection technique in this research uses note-taking and documentation methods. Data analysis techniques in this research are data reduction, data categorisation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that in the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy there are two main characters, namely Ridho and Syifa. Ridho's character is obedient to worship, loving, disciplined, responsible, and generous. Syifa's character is hardworking, generous, disciplined, devout, and forgiving. Furthermore, in the novel Suluh Rindu by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, there are five aspects of character education, namely religion, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity.

Abstract

This study is a quantitative research that aims to describe the variation of language use on Instagram social media and to describe the causes of the variation. This research uses qualitative research method with descriptive method. The data collection techniques are documentation and note-taking techniques. The results of this study show that there are six types of language variation on Instagram social media, namely language variation in terms of speakers, language variation in terms of usage, language variation in terms of formality, language variation in terms of means, slang variation, and mixed Indonesian-English language variation. In addition, in this study there are factors that cause the use of language variation on Instagram social media. The new finding in this research is the form of data analysis made in the form of a formula as part of data grouping. Slang and mixed language variations in Instagram social media become a renewable form in this research, showing the diversity of language forms that have different meanings or meanings in each word found.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative research that aims to (1) Describe the form of directive speech acts in Mata Najwa's Dialogue Show “Why Do I Need to Study ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. (2) To describe the function of directive speech acts in Mata Najwa's Dialogue Show “Why Do I Need to Go to College ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. The data in this study are transcripts of speech or fragments of conversations in the video of Mata Najwa Show “Why Do I Need to Go to College ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. The source of the data is the dialog conversation contained in Mata Najwa Show “Why Do I Need to Go to College ala Maudy, Andhika, and Amanda”. Data collection is done by listening technique, data transcription and note taking technique. Data analysis is done by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. From the analysis, it is found that there are six forms of directive speech acts, namely: requests, questions, orders, prohibitions, giving permission, and advice.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the form and function of expressive speech acts in Watch videos on Facebook social media. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection in this research uses listening and note-taking techniques. The results revealed that the form of speech acts on Watch videos on Facebook are literal direct speech acts, literal indirect speech acts, non-literal direct speech acts and non-literal indirect speech acts. The functions of expressive speech acts used in Watch videos on Facebook social media are criticising, blaming, praising, thanking, apologising, congratulating, and condoling. The use of various expressive speech act functions in Watch videos on Facebook is used to express the speaker's feelings. The function of criticising, blaming is intended as a form of dislike for something. The function of praising, thanking, congratulating and expressing condolences is intended as a form of good response from the speaker to what is seen, heard or felt. While the function of apologising is intended as a sense of regret of the speaker for what he did, the function of apologising speech is mostly spoken by women and men as a form of regret for the mistakes made.
