Abstract

Ethnomathematics is the study of mathematics from various cultural forms, allowing communities to discover and explore mathematical concepts within their culture. Cultural values of mathematics can be utilized in mathematics education. This research aims to identify the mathematical concepts found in Pura Kerta Bhuwana Giri Wilis Nganjuk and use them as components in preparing mathematics modules for seventh-grade junior high school students. Pura Kerta Bhuwana Giri Wilis is in the Loceret District of Nganjuk Regency. This temple has a strong traditional Javanese architectural style, featuring tiered roofs, relief decorations, and ornaments that symbolize Hindu beliefs. This research uses qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection through interviews was conducted to understand the history, philosophy, and components of Pura Kerta Bhuwana Giri Wilis Nganjuk. Observation and documentation were carried out to analyze the mathematical elements in the parts of the Pura. The research results show that Pura Kerta Bhuwana Giri Wilis contains mathematical concepts such as flat shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, rhombuses), three-dimensional shapes (rectangular pyramids, rectangular prisms, cylinders), and geometric transformations (reflection and rotation). Using the Self-Directing Learning model, the mathematical concepts are then implemented into the Lesson Plan (RPP). The Self-Directing Learning model consists of three steps: Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluating. Ethnomathematics from Pura Kerta Bhuwana Giri Wilis are expected to enhance students' understanding of mathematics and develop learning media based on local culture.

Abstract

Abstract

To support learning process during Covid-19 pandemic, digital literacy skills which is 21st century skill, is an important skill in learning. This research aimed to describe digital literacy skills of prospective mathematics teacher during the covid-19 pandemic. A qualitative descriptive was designed with 32 prospective mathematics teacher at IAIN Kediri. Student worksheets based on Ethnomathematics assisted by GeoGebra was used as a tool for implementing digital literacy skills in geometry courses during Covid-19 pandemic. Ethnomathematics worksheet was filled by student assessed using analitic rubric then described based on 3 digital competency indicators by Calvani namely technology, cognitive and ethnics. The results show that on technological indicator students can use GeoGebra tools to combine basic geometric and several polygons to produce other meaningful shapes, used GeoGebra tools to form regular polygons, able to make geometric fractals by applying geometric transformations, and created new tools for creating geometric fractals. On cognitive indicators, students can determine the basic patterns and transformations used in fractals and determine the types of fractals and non-fractals by using various sources. On ethical indicators students can present and interact directlywith lecturer and other students through GeoGebra classrooms.

Abstract

This study is based on the literature finding that problem-solving ability and adaptive reasoning ability are interconnected but have not been widely studied empirically, using AKMI model questions at the MTs level. This research aims to describe and determine the relationship between these two abilities in solving AKMI model questions at the HOTS level with a scientific context for MTs students in Kediri City. This research uses a quantitative survey approach with a population of 160 students and a sample of 129 respondents from schools participating in the 2024 AKMI program. The research instrument consists of two AKMI-model questions at the HOTS level with a scientific context, which were developed based on indicators of problem-solving ability and adaptive reasoning using PLSV material. The instrument has undergone expert validation, with Aiken's V indices of 0.8913 and 0.875, and shows high reliability based on a Cronbach's Alpha test result of 0.821. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using the Spearman Correlation Test. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that students' problem-solving abilities were divided into three categories: 22 students were in the low category, 79 students were in the medium category, and 28 students were in the high category. Meanwhile, the results of the Spearman correlation test showed a positive relationship between adaptive reasoning ability and problem-solving ability. This finding indicates the importance of learning strategies that can accommodate both abilities.
