Abstract

PT Respati Kemasindah is a company engaged in the conversion of flexible packaging using rotogravure printing technology, including the production of instant tea packaging. The defect rate of instant tea packaging in the production process reaches 8.48%, which exceeds the company’s tolerance limit of 3%, indicating deficiencies in quality control. This study aims to analyze potential failures occurring in the instant tea packaging production process and to determine improvement priorities to reduce the defect rate. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is employed by calculating the Risk Priority Number (RPN) based on severity, occurrence, and detection parameters. The results indicate that dry lamination defects have the highest RPN value of 155, followed by misprint defects and uneven printing. Based on these findings, improvement strategies are proposed with a focus on enhancing machine maintenance effectiveness, ensuring consistent implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), and improving operator competence and working conditions. This study is expected to serve as a fundamental reference for decision-making in improving quality control effectiveness and reducing the defect rate of instant tea packaging.   ABSTRAK (Bahasa Indonesia) PT Respati Kemasindah merupakan perusahaan di bidang converting kemasan fleksibel berbasis cetak rotogravure, salah satunya yaitu kemasan teh instan. Persentase kecacatan kemasan teh instan sebesar 8,48% dalam proses produksi kemasan yang melampaui batas toleransi perusahaan sebesar 3%, mengindikasikan adanya permasalahan dalam pengendalian kualitas.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis potensi kegagalan yang terjadi dalam proses produksi kemasan teh instan serta menentukan prioritas perbaikan guna menurunkan tingkat kecacatan produk. Metode yang digunakan adalah Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) dengan menghitung nilai Risk Priority Number (RPN) berdasarkan parameter severity, occurrence, dan detection. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cacat dry laminasi memiliki nilai RPN tertinggi sebesar 155, diikuti oleh cacat misprint, dan unsmooth printing. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, usulan perbaikan difokuskan pada peningkatan efektivitas pemeliharaan mesin, penegakan konsistensi penerapan SOP, serta peningkatan kompetensi dan kondisi kerja operator. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan dasar pengambilan keputusan dalam meningkatkan efektivitas pengendalian kualitas dan menurunkan tingkat kecacatan kemasan teh instan.

Abstract

Kemasan berperan penting dalam meningkatkan nilai jual, daya tarik, serta identitas produk, terutama bagi pelaku Usaha Kecil dan Menengah (UKM). Selain berfungsi melindungi produk, kemasan juga berperan sebagai media promosi dan informasi, termasuk pencantuman label halal sesuai ketentuan Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH) dan Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM). Namun, banyak UKM binaan Komunitas Sadar Halal (USAHA) di wilayah Jabodetabek dan Jawa Barat masih menghadapi kendala dalam desain, pelabelan, dan produksi kemasan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mitra UKM dalam desain dan produksi label kemasan yang memenuhi persyaratan sertifikasi halal. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan kepada mitra UKM dalam pembuatan label kemasan sesuai regulasi, serta penggunaan teknologi cutting sticker untuk kegiatan produksi label yang efisien dan fleksibel. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman terhadap pentingnya label dan kemasan sesuai regulasi meningkat sebesar 80%, serta semua peserta (100%) menyatakan kegiatan ini membantu memecahkan permasalahan kemasan dan pelabelan. Kegiatan pelatihan dan pendamping ini dapat berkontribusi pada peningkatan kualitas dan daya saing produk UKM.

Abstract

Folded carton packaging is commonly used in various industries due to its lightweight, flexible, and environmentally friendly properties. Roll die cutting machines are the primary technology used in mass production because they can achieve cutting Accuracy of up to 99% with only 1,2% material waste at optimal parameters (pressure of 5 bar, speed of 20 m/min, blade sharpness of 0.1 µm). Therefore, this study uses an experimental method to optimize cutting parameters by varying pressure (3-7 bar), speed (10-30 m/min), and blade sharpness (0.1-0.5 µm). The research results show that the use of a blunt blade (0.5 µm) at high pressure (7 bar) can reduce Accuracy by up to 85% and increase Waste by up to 10%. Comparison with flatbed cutting machines reveals the superiority of roll die cutting in terms of production speed (three times faster) and precision (four % higher), despite requiring 50% higher maintenance expenses. The implementation of these optimal parameters in industry is projected to increase productivity by up to 30% while reducing material waste by up to 40%, provided that routine blade maintenance is performed every 5,000 cutting cycles. These findings offer significant technical recommendations for improving the efficiency of folding carton packaging production.
