This study is chosen to be the main subject in the term of linguistic study due to the popular issue in linguistic area, that is phonology, one of the focused subjects in linguistic aspect in English. Phonology also has several impacts to the people who involve in the language and linguistic subject and matter. Based from the related research, it is about the misspelling phoneme areas in the speech made by a public figure in Indonesia, who is Sandiaga Uno. The main purpose for this research is to find out the areas of misspelling phoneme made by Sandiaga Uno in his speech as the governor candidate for Jakarta, candidate for vice president and also as the public figure in Indonesia. The main result is the phenomenon of misspelling phoneme was existent in the area of dental like the phoneme /ɵ/, area of glottal stop such the sound /ᴅ/, and also the area of stop such the phoneme /ʃ/. This present research will use the phonological approach in linguistic study. Moreover, this present research will use the descriptive qualitative method in analysing and presenting the result of the research. This present research will analyse about the misspelling phoneme areas in phonology study. The data source will be taken from the speech by Sandiaga Uno. The approach that will be used for this present research will be the phonological approach in Linguistics.

This descriptive qualitative research identified briefly the figurative expressions on Donald Trump’s tweeter post. It used Abrams and Harpham’s theory. This research applied observational method and non-participation technique in collecting the data. Then, this research applied semantic identity method and semantic-competence in equalizing to analyze the data. The figure of similarity found mostly in the comments or responses. There were expressions of simile, metaphor, allusion, and personification. The comments or responses mostly compared the one to the other living or non-living things to express how loathe the writers of comments. The figures of speech criticized the one’s works and acts. On the other hand, the expressions attacked the face (FTA). Previously, the figures of speech were used in the literary works to show the expression aesthetically. But now, the freedom to express the ideas makes the figures of speech not only to show the ‘sweet and smooth’ language but also ‘rude’ language.

This research is a development of previous research conducted by researchers such as theconstruction of the formation of slang language, the form of slang greetings and adolescent perspective in its usefound in Batam. In the present study, the researchers again conducted a follow-up study of slang in order to findthe spread of adolescent slang use, the social aspects that influenced the use of slang, and the group of slangtypes in the adolescent community. This research is descriptive qualitative research because researchers use datain the form of words instead of numbers taken from the main source and interpreted by instinct and theresearcher's understanding of this research object. In data collection, the researcher will use the methodcompiled by Sudaryanto [1]. At the stage of providing data of researchers using the metode simak with SimakBebas Libat Cakap Technique. At this stage the researcher performs a silent observation and recording the useof slang in teen community. Recorded data will be transcribed in phonemic form and interpreted by the author.At the stage of data analysis the researchers used the Padan Method with basic techniques of Piliah UnsurPenentu (PUP) with pragmatic form. The results of the analysis aim to find out the rules about extending the useof slang in adolescent communities, social aspects that influence the use of slang, and grouping the types ofslang in teenagers in Batam. From the analysis of data collected, it can be found that the expansion of slang usein adolescent community occurs in all aspects of the use of language either written or oral form. In written formcan be found in social media and writing such as facebook, instagram, WA, Twitter, BBM, Path, paper, andLine. In the oral form it is contained in live conversations in a secretly recorded teenage community and also inthe film.

This study examined the speech act of request appeared in a television show, Little Big Shots UK. It was a descriptive qualitative study, which the data were utterances in the form of sentences, clauses or words in Little Big Shots UK. The data were collected through the observation and non-participatory technique and analyzed by using the pragmatic identity analysis. The objective of this study was to find out the types of request strategies applied by the speakers in the Little Big Shots UK using the theory of Trosborg (1995). From the collected data, researcher found 37 data of requesting speech act, which 13 (35,1%) data categorized as direct request (2 data using necessity/obligation strategy; 2 data using performative strategy; and 9 data using imperative strategy), 12 (32,4%) data categorized as hearer-oriented condition (8 data using ability/willingness strategy; 4 using suggestory formulae strategy), 11 (29,7%) data categorized as speaker-based condition (9 data using wishes/desire strategy; 2 data using needs/demands strategy), and 1 (2,7%) data categorized as indirect (mild hint strategy). Batam sebagai kota metropolitan, memiliki beberapa kampung tua yang masih memegang teguh kearifan lokal Melayu. Kampung tua Nongsa adalah salah satu kampung tua yang masih memegang teguh kearifan lokal Melayu. Komunitas Capung di Nongsa bertujuan mempromosikan kampung tua Nongsa sebagai destinasi pariwisata Pulau Batam kepada wisatawan mancanegara karena letak strategis Pulau Batam yang dekat dengan Singapura, Malaysia, ataupun Brunai Darussalam. Anggota komunitas Capung yang berasal dari masyarakat tempatan memiliki latar belakang pendidikan menengah sehingga tidak memiliki kemampuan yang baik berbahasa Inggris lisan maupun tulisan dan menjadi kendala mempromosikan kearifan lokal Melayu kepada dunia. Pembinaan pelatihan bahasa Inggris untuk mengasah kemampuan lisan dan tulisan anggota komunitas dan pelatihan pemanfaatan media sosial sebagai strategi manajemen promosi wisata kampung tua adalah solusi dalam memecahkan masalah tersebut. Metode pengabdian berupa wawancara, pemberian pretest, pelatihan percakapan dan menulis, dan praktik percakapan langsung (posttest). Hasil dari enam pertemuan adalah peserta mulai mampu mendeskripsikan tempat wisata di Nongsa dan budaya Melayu walaupun masih banyak kesalahan dan peserta dapat memanfaatkan media sosial untuk mempromosikan keindahan dan kearifan budaya Melayu berbahasa Inggris. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat mensukseskan rencana kegiatan komunitas capung ‘Heritage Culture Of Kampung Tua Nongsa 2019 dan mempromosikan kearifan lokal Melayu kampung tua sebagai landmark Pulau Batam.

The article raised the implied meaning contained in the film entitled "suspicious couple" by Chiko Chiata. The goals or aims of this research are to uncover the use of implicature in a film using Grice's cooperative principle framework and to entangle the implied meanings in the conversations in terms of their maxim arrangement. The theory used is conversational implicature based on theory (Grice, 1989). Every implied meaning or conversational implicature in it is what is explained. To explain the various implied meanings, it is necessary to use methods and methods that are in accordance with the lines. the methodology used is the type of research, the method of collecting and analyzing data such as qualitative descriptive taken from theory (Sudaryanto, 2015) is this research method because words, phrases are forms to explain data. For data analysis, pragmatic identity is used in this study. Observational and non-participatory methods were applied in data collection. This study finds many implied meanings in both pronunciation and movement in the film "Suspicious Partner" which is a crime and life genre. but in this study took 16 examples of implied meaning to be understood properly. whose discussion is related to the type of conversational implicature in its implicature branch.

The research identifies the type of expressive acts uttered by the characters in a special episode entitled Euphoria Part 1: Rue – Trouble Don’t Last Always and the research implements Norrick theory to analyze the data. Then, the research designs the activity in qualitative method which shapes how the report of the analysis would be descriptively. In collecting the data, the research appropriates Observational method and non-participation technique by Sudaryanto. On the other hand, in analyzing the data, the research appropriates Pragmatic Identity Method and Matching technique by Sudaryanto. The research found 26 utterances identified completely of the types of expressive acts; (2) apologizing, (1) thanking, (1) congratulating, (4) condoling, (5) deploring, (8) lamenting, (2) welcoming, (2) forgiving, and (1) boasting. Lamenting is the most frequent expressive act as the central story of the episode where the main character shared their sorrow and regret to their friend.

This descriptive qualitative research discovered to investigate the types of refusal in Aladdin movie. This movie was modified by the folklore Aladdin in the Walt Disney Pictures, the folklore was made by Terry Rossio. Then, there were the types of refusal, namely indirect refusal, direct refusal, and adjunct refusal. This study was applied the theory by Felix brasdefer, (2008) and Houck, (1999). The most common reason for using indirect refusal than direct and adjunct refusal because it can minimize the negative effect (FTA) of the hearer. This research was using an observational method and a non-participatory method by Sudaryanto's theory. Then, the data was analyzed using the pragmatics identity method. Meanwhile, the finding results of frequently of this research were found 21 data of indirect refusal, 13 data of direct refusal, and 9 data of adjunct refusal. Based on data source, the character of Aladdin mostly used indirect refusal statement.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impoliteness strategies employed in Easy A. This research is proposed by Culpeper’s (2011) theory. In this study, the researchers analyzed impoliteness strategies using descriptive qualitative analysis. The subject of the research is “Easy A” movie. In this study, data was gathered by using an observational methodology and a non-participatory technique. After processing the data, pragmatic identification methods were used to analyze it. During this study, the researchers identified 16 utterances. The researchers discovered five kinds of impoliteness as a result of their research, including (4) bald on record impoliteness, (5) positive impoliteness, (4) negative impoliteness, (2) mock politeness, and (1) withhold politeness. Positive impoliteness and negative impoliteness were most frequently used by Easy A.

The focus of this research is the flouting of maxim purposed by Grice (1975) theory of cooperative principle. This focus concerned on the types of flouting maxim with pragmatic as the approach. In doing the flouting the participants conciously or unconciously tend to break the principles and unfulfill the rules in cooperative principle. The purpose of this research was to find out about the types of flouting maxim in the movie. This research used the movie directed by Taika Waititi named “Thor Ragnarok”. This study used qualitative research by Creswell (2013) in collecting the data. The observational method and the non-participatory technique by (Sudaryanto, 2015) was used to collect the data. The pragmatic identity method was used to analyze the data, and the pragmatic competence-in-equalizing technique was used as the research technique. The result of this study revealed that there were 17 data related to the flouting maxims. The frequent type found was the flouting of maxim quantity. As the character tend to give information or contribution as required. The second type found was the flouting of maxim quality with 4 times occurances, where the characters in the movie tend to say something opposite from the factual event. The flouting maxim of relation with 2 times appeareance. And lastly, the flout of maxim manner appeared 3 times in the movie
