Abstract

This study aims to investigate the significant positive effects of corporate social responsibility (CSR), the board of directors' size, and the board of commissioners' size on financial performance, as well as to assess whether institutional ownership functions as a moderating variable that strengthens the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The research utilizes secondary data derived from the annual reports and sustainability reports of mining sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2020–2023. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling method, and the data were analyzed using panel data regression with EViews software. The results indicate that CSR has a positive and significant influence on financial performance, while the board of directors' size does not show a significant effect. Conversely, the board of commissioners' size exerts a positive and significant impact on financial performance. Moreover, institutional ownership is found to moderate the relationship between CSR and financial performance, but does not moderate the relationship between the board of directors or board of commissioners and financial performance. Based on these findings, future research is encouraged to broaden the scope of industries and the length of the observation period, incorporate additional relevant variables, categorize institutional ownership, and explore alternative moderating variables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Indonesia's leading natural resources, especially in the mining sector, on the Indonesian economy as reflected in the Indonesia Composite Index (ICI). This study uses a quantitative approach, using monthly time series data for 9 years from 2016 to 2024. The testing was conducted using multiple regression analysis with data analysis tools using Eviews 12 software. Data analysis involved two main steps: 1) testing classical assumptions such as normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroscedasticity; 2) multiple linear regression analysis; and 3) hypothesis testing such as partial or t-tests, simultaneous or F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results of the study indicate that coal and gold prices have a significant positive effect on the Indonesia Composite Index (ICI). Nickel prices have no effect on the ICI. Simultaneously, the three commodity variables have a significant influence on the IHSG with a coefficient of determination of 59.54%. This finding indicates that Indonesia's leading commodities, namely coal, nickel, and gold, play an important role in influencing the capital market.

Abstract

The phenomenon of climate change, increasing high temperatures, and significant global warming encourages many countries, including the ASEAN-5 Region to make an energy transition through the use of renewable energy and become a solution that can reduce the negative impacts of both economic, social, and environmental from the energy system to sustainability. However, in its implementation, renewable energy is still a challenge, especially economic and social factors for every country in the world, especially in ASEAN-5. This study aims to analyze the effect of urbanization levels, per capita income, and carbon emissions on renewable energy consumption in ASEAN-5 countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines) during the period 2015–2023. Using quantitative methods with data sourced from Our World in Data and the World Bank, analyzed using the panel data regression method with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of the study show that the level of urbanization has a positive relationship and has a significant effect on renewable energy consumption, then per capita income has a positive relationship but does not have a significant effect on renewable energy consumption, and carbon emissions have a negative relationship and have a significant effect on renewable energy consumption. Furthermore, independent variables simultaneously influence renewable energy consumption in ASEAN-5 countries from 2015 to 2023. These findings provide policy implications for governments in realizing the Paris Agreement and sustainable development.
