Abstract

Diarrhea is a bowel movement (defecation) characterized by liquid or semi-liquid stools with a higher water content than usual. Microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and protozoa can cause diarrheal disease, depending on the etiology. A decoction of guava leaves is used in traditional medicine to treat diarrhea. The goal of the community service is to teach the LKSA Muawanah Foundation's foster children about diarrhea and how to treat it traditionally with boiled guava leaves. The definition of diarrhea, causes of diarrhea, prevention of diarrhea, treatment of diarrhea, distribution of brochures for prevention and treatment of diarrhea, games, post-test, and how to make anti-diarrhea drinks from guava leaf stew were all part of this program. Participants gain a better understanding of the causes of diarrhea, how to prevent it, and how to make traditional anti-diarrhea medicinal drinks from guava leaf stew, which is both cheaper and easier. The material presented is well understood by the participants, as evidenced by their ability to correctly answer ten questions during the post-test

Abstract

Family medicinal plants (TOGA) offer a safe alternative treatment option since they rarely cause side effects, are easy to process and consume, and are relatively inexpensive. However, the residents of Bode Lor Village in Plumbon District, Cirebon Regency, prefer chemical drugs for their daily treatments. The objective of this community service initiative is to impart knowledge about the benefits of traditional medicinal plants and promote the cultivation of family medicinal plants (TOGA). The methods employed in this program encompass observation, outreach, counseling, and training in the preparation of infused water and instant granules, offering an alternative to traditional medicine that can be sold, marketed, and hold economic value. The program's results demonstrated an increase in residents' knowledge regarding the benefits of traditional medicine and raised awareness about planting medicinal plants around their homes. This also included an improvement in their skills in utilizing TOGA through the creation of infused water and instant granulated ginger, ultimately contributing to increased family income.

Abstract

Health education for school-age children is a crucial step in shaping clean and healthy living habits. One aspect that is often overlooked is the classification of medicines based on the logos displayed on their packaging. This community service activity aims to educate students of MI Assalafiyah Bode Lor on clean and healthy living behaviors, as well as medication logos. The methods used in this activity include health counseling, poster-based education, and evaluation. The results show a 34% increase in knowledge regarding clean and healthy living behaviors and medication logos. With better understanding, students can become more independent in maintaining their personal health and identifying the appropriate type of medicine based on the packaging logo, fostering a healthier and more informed younger generation.
