Abstract

This study aimed to examine effect of giving a mixture of Lactobacillus casei and garlic powder (LGP) on broiler performance, immune response and blood profile. One hundred and forty-day old broilers with an average body weight of 43.70 ± 0.88 g were placed randomly in 20 experimental units. Completely randomized design was used in this study, with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment was conducted when the chickens were 22-35 days old (finisher phase). The chickens were given a mixture of Lactobacillus casei and garlic powder (LGP) at concentration levels of: 0, 1, 2, and  3%. Parameters measured were blood profile, weight of lymphoid organs (bursa of Fabricius, spleen, and thymus), and carcass production. Data were analyzed for variance and if there was a significant effect, then Duncan’s multiple range test was followed at the 5% level. Results showed that the administration of LGP improved the immune response, carcass weight and final body weight of broiler chickens. The administration of 3% LGP improved immune response and achieved the best broiler performance.

Abstract

RINGKASAN Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran serat kasar (SK) ransum terhadap pertumbuhan, produksi dan penyerapan (VFA) pada itik Tegal jantan. Materi yang digunakan adalah itik Tegal umur sehari. Penelitian disusun memakai pola rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah kadar SK dalam ransum, yaitu 5, 10, dan 15%. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis ragam dan uji lanjut dengan uji wilayah ganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kadar serat kasar yang berbeda dalam ransum tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap konsumsi ransum, PBBH, produksi VFA sekum – kolon, dan kadar VFA darah. Rata-rata konsumsi ransum untuk P1 = 71,53; P2 = 69,54; dan P3 = 66,19 g/ekor/hari. Selanjutnya, PBBH itik pada masing-masing perlakuan adalah P1 = 19,75; P2 = 19,07; dan P3 = 18,83 g/ekor/hari . Rata-rata kadar VFA cairan sekum dan kolon adalah P1 = 1019,98; P2 = 1053,21; dan P3 = 1103,18 ?mol/l. Lebih lanjut, rata-rata kadar VFA darah adalah P1 = 230,15; P2 = 251,97; dan P3 = 266,17 ?mol/l. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah kadar serat kasar ransum sampai 15% masih dapat ditolerir oleh itik, dilihat dari konsumsi ransum dan PBBH. SK sampai 15% tidak meningkatkan produksi dan penyerapan VFA. EFFECT OF CRUDE FIBER ON GROWTH PERFORMANCE, VFA PRODUCTION AND VFA ABSORBTION OF TEGAL DUCK ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of crude fiber on growth performance, production and absorption of VFA on Tegal duck. Material in this research was day old duck. This research was designed following completely randomized design of one-way pattern. Treatments were level of crude fiber at 5, 10 and 15% of ration dry matter. Data were analyzed with analysis of variance and when there was an effect of treatments, then it was continued by Duncan multiple range test. Result of this research showed that the treatments did not significantly effect diet consumption (P1 = 71,53, P2 = 69,54 and P3 = 66,19 g/day) and growth performance (P1 = 19,75, P2 = 19,07 and P3 = 18,83 g/day). Levels of crude fiber in duck rations did not significantly influence the VFA production (P1 = 1019,98, P2 = 1053,21 dan P3 = 1103,18 ?mol/l) and VFA absorption (P1 = 230,15 , P2 = 251,97 and P3 = 266,17 ?mol/l.). It can be concluded that the level of crude fiber up to 15% can be tolerated by Tegal duck without influencing the diet consumption and growth performance. Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penambahan acidifier dengan inulin dan enzim papain pada ransum terhadap kecernaan lemak kasar, massa lemak daging, bobot relatif lemak abdominal dan bobot karkas kalkun jantan fase grower. Ternak percobaan yang digunakan adalah kalkun jantan fase grower umur 13 minggu sebanyak 80 ekor dengan bobot badan ratarata 1.605,05±85,16 g. Bahan perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu acidifier (asam laktat, asam propionat dan asam formiat), inulin bersumber dari ekstrak akar sawi pahit dan enzim papain sintetik. Perlakuan yang diterapkan adalah T0 = ransum kontrol/RK ; T1 = RK + acidifier 1% ; T2 = RK + acidifier 1% + inulin 1,2% ; T3 = RK + acidifier 1% + enzim papain 0,15% ; T4 = RK + acidifier 1% + inulin 1,2% + enzim papain 0,15%. Parameter yang diukur yaitu kecernaan lemak kasar, massa lemak daging, bobot relatif lemak abdominal dan bobot karkas. Data dianalisis menggunakan analysis of variance pada taraf 5%, jika berpengaruh nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji ganda Duncan pada taraf 5% untuk mengetahui perbedaan antar perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan acidifier dengan inulin dan enzim papain pada ransum berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kecernaan lemak kasar, massa lemak daging, bobot relatif lemak abdominal dan bobot karkas kalkun jantan fase grower. Simpulan penelitian adalah penambahan acidifier 1% dengan inulin 1,2% dan enzim papain 0,15% pada ransum mampu menurunkan kecernaan lemak kasar, massa lemak daging dan bobot relatif lemak abdominal serta meningkatkan bobot karkas kalkun jantan fase grower.
